Watch Me Clean a Dryer Vent with Steel Brush Power

Pro-X uses a steel brush when cleaning your dryer vent. Most dryer duct cleaners use nylon brushes, but steel is more effective at scraping lint off the walls and breaking apart clogs. This means that your duct will stay clean longer. For dryer vent cleaning service in OKC, check out proxokc.com

Pro-Tip: How to Easily Connect Dryer Vent Duct to Wall and Dryer
มุมมอง 171K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
This method works on all types of dryer ducts. I use a flexible duct in the video, but you can apply it to semi rigid and rigid ducts as well. If your rigid duct won’t slip over the wall side, cut 4 one inch notches at the 10, 2, 4, and 8 o’clock positions. This should open the mouth and help you slip it on. Wow man, great simple tips. I need the correct tape to do correctly. Thanks!
This was great! Worked like a charm. Thanks!
Worked on this for an hour, watched the video, then did it in 10 minutes. Thank you!!
Thanks!!!!!!
Thank you times 10. It was frustrating until I saw your video and all I could say is you got to be kidding me 😂 it was so easy.
How do i do it if hole in wall too big for hose?
Would using tape on semi Ridgid pipe work for making connections better? Thanks, nice video. Nm
Yes, I use the tape whether it's the flexible, semi-rigid, or rigid. If you're using a worm gear clamp, it'll help prevent tearing a hole into the ends of the duct. For semi-rigid or rigid, if you're having problems getting onto the wall side, put the tape on the end first, then make four snips into the duct opening. If the perspective if you looking at the opening like it's a circle, imagine a clock and put a 1" snip into the 2, 4, 8, and 10 o'clock posiitons. It'll fan out that opening and may help slip on easier. Then tighten hard with a worm gear clamp to hold.
Would cleaning out one of these things possibly cause your dryer to heat again if it wasn't cooling?
If it wasn't getting hot when drying I meant?
If it's an electric dryer, probably not. If your electric dryer isn't heating, either a thermal fuse has blown from overheating OR the heating element split. Both will require a dryer repair to restore the heat, and the entire dryer duct likely needs to be cleaned (not just the connecting duct). If it's a gas dryer, the heat may be restored after cleaning the duct.
OMG...what a great idea - Thanks so much! I came here after struggling for an hour trying to get the duct to fit. I also figured out that I need a 5" duct for a 4" opening.
This is me - an oval 4 and 3/4" inch hole and a 4 inch tube.
honestly they should make the flexible ducts 4-1/2'' as standard. It just took me an hour to get mine to fit and then i stumbled upon this video lol
The painters tore the hose, this is an easy fix. Yeah, I should done the painting myself as well 😐
Here's an idea of the vent maker companies, why don't you make the entire length of the tube like that.? 🧐
That was the trick!! Easy peasy
Previous dryer install, the clowns couldn't get the hose on at the wall,so they bent the duct inwards to make it fit..then taped it up..now after cleaning out the duct, I'm replacing it with a new diameter hose and it's a bear to get it on... The hard part is getting the hose on the wall vent..it's bigger than the 4" diameter of the hose ! I'm trying again by snipping the hose a few places and getting it in,then taping it with foil...the ring would be extra work. Getting it on the dryer is simple 😊 **** why would they install the wall vent pointing downward!! Why not install it pointing outward towards the dryer for easier install.**** Btw...just ordered a new washer and dryer, due September 9,2024....how much you wanna bet they do the same thing as the previous ones from 7 yrs ago!! 😂😂😂😂😂 unprofessional
That’s probably how Jesus told them to install it… can’t hate on the legend himself 🤷🏽 WWJD
I literally want to cry because I cant get this fucking tension ring on the fucking hole of my dryer and its in an impossible position to do it easily. I am losing my mind so i will try this 😭
If it's still not working, you can get a "worm gear clamp" at a hardware store. That may be easier because it won't fight you when trying to slip it on the dryer. Those tension rings can be annoying in some cases.
Lmfao
Oh my gosh this is literally me right now that stupid ring is hurting my feelings I just wanna dry my clothes!!
Prayer and this video helped me save money . ❤I did it I’m so proud of myself 😊
Did anyone else think this video came off oddly sexual? Had me bustin a gut fr. 🤣
Dude. No.
New homeowner here. This is one of the most infuriating experiences I’ve ever had lol. Got it after about an hour and a half or more of sweating in a poorly ventilated laundry room
😆🧘♂️
Literally me today… there has to be a better way.
This is me today
Newbie as well, and this is possibly my least favorite job in the house that doesn't have to do with anything gross
I wish it was that easy , outside part went a lot better. Why don’t those clamps hold better.
Thank you so much ❤
I’m considering getting a stackable washer/dryer. Do I need to relocate my vent outlet to go higher if it’s closer to the floor such as the one on your video? Thanks in advance!
@@gabyluces1413 No it can stay where it’s at so long as you don’t pinch the connecting duct behind the washer/dryer. That few feet of travel down then back up into the wall isn’t a big deal.
@@Pro-XOKC awesome, thank you for your response!!
Thank you so much for this video. Had to replace the dryer duct and using the tape, plus the clamps made the difference. Quick and tight connection made.
Thought it always had to be female into male in the direction of flow? Didn’t you just create a lint collection seam? Let me know.
The seam is nearly negligible in this particular case. You may get a little bit of build up there, but the benefit of having a super tight hold by securing it with a clamp from the outside outweigh any possible slight buildup. The alternative is shoving the flexible duct into the wall port, and that would be significantly worst for lint collection. If you have a better idea, let me know of course.
I was having difficult time trying get the vent hose on the new wall to outside part and your trick really worked GREAT!! Easy peasy done! TY TY!!
Thank you. I almost gave up and was going to hire someone. Your simple tips really made the difference and I was able to connect in 5 minutes.
That is not an approved dryer vent cover and is a fire hazzard! That is a 750 slant back vent. used for venting the stagnant air in the attic.
What happens if there’s a hole in it
If the hole is on the end, use a diagonal cutter to snip the end off down a bit to a fresh section. If it’s in the center, it’s best to just buy a new duct. If you don’t want to do that, the metal tape in the video can be used to wrap the area with the hole. Pull it taut, wrap the tape, then slowly collapse it again so the tape takes the shape of the duct.
@@Pro-XOKC thank you
Tape it with the same tape. That aluminum tape.
Thanks for the help, this sorted out my dilemma. I was really struggling with the down pipe.
Great video. Is there a brand of hose you recommend (or avoid)?
Thank you! I knew there had to be a trick.
4 inch hose and 4inch sleeve doesn't slide together
Inside diameter of most 4” flexible ducts will stretch to measure 4 and 1/16” or 1/8”. Believe in the stars ✨
Thank you. Who designs this stuff..
@@kathy3517it’s supposed to be a national standard, but of course, some people will use something different to save a few pennies or use something because they made the wall too thin. (Oval tubing)
dang that's thin tape
Good ideas, thanks.
I just cleaned out my vent duct. It hasn’t been done in 20 years since the house was built. I used one of those $20 kits. It worked pretty well. Any tips on using those?
Yeah here’s how I like to do it… 1. Attach hose to dryer. 2. Push hose onto vent outlet on wall. 3. Lacerate hand on vent outlet. 4. Go to ER for sutures. 5. Come home trim bloodstained aluminum from end of hose. 6. Attach hose to vent outlet. 7. Try to repair tear in hose with metal tape. 8. Tape the hose in place. 9. Move dryer back in place. 10. Observe that hose disconnected from dryer and is now crushed. 11. Put tools back. Drink. Give up.
Pretty much explains it
Step 6.5 is "Observe that you forgot to first put the ring clamp on before attaching the hose to the vent outlet."
Omg thx for this. I will try to be careful and not cut myself.
My people
😂😂😂😂That’s the way it was designed! I’m laughing to keep from crying as I’m attempting to reinstall my duct.😢. Mind you I just bought the MV-90 quick connect and should have bought the MV Flex.😢😢😢
Can watch this over and over again 😍😍😍😍😍
A good 50 years ago owners were warned NOT to use that flexible junk because lint accumulates in it like crazy!!!!!!
I’ve cleaned over 5,000 dryer vents and can tell you that there is little difference in accumulation between the rigid, semirigid, and flexible connecting ducts. Plus these newer flexible ducts have a Teflon-like lining that helps prevent build up. Additionally, the flexible ones offer three key benefits that the others don’t: they can bounce back if accidentally pinched, they can compress better in tight spaces, and they seal better to the dryer and wall ports.
I am cleaning my vent and I want to pop the side, can’t seem to get the front to open. Plus the bigger problem , How to get out of the back of dryer. If I angle enough to slip through, tube slips off. Seems to be a good size, if I wanted to live behind the dryer. I’m thinking to get my step stools and go over top! I’m only 78 yrs young. What you think? Any advice? 😀
that's what I did Linda!, But I'm only 64 LOL.... hehe.. you can do it. I'm not a super healthy 64!
I really like the recessed wall for the vent. Video on that please?
So satisfying carpet got cleaned 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
That carpet is filthy 😍😍😍😍😍
Great angles and clean!🎉😂
Carpet looks nice love the restoration just dislike the 2 toned carpet 😍😍😍😍😍😍
I guessed urine
No steam?
I use #1 jets and jet extenders so the water flow almost immediately hits the carpet. I never get a bunch of steam since doing that. My machine gets to 200+ degrees very quickly, and my wand thermometer shows like 140-160 at the wand. If I increased the water flow, it would be visible, but I get it dry faster with the lower flow jets.
Love seeing the rise thru that little window 😍😍😍😍😍😍
So satisfying but you didn’t do a wet pass behind the door😳sorry it triggers my OCD 😒😍🤣🤣
Behind the closet door, right? They said it was too full to open the door 😆
If you meant behind the main, door: 5:08
Amazing clean but it needed s’more passes it looked like you could’ve done just a tad more it’s ok though lighten it up, 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Love the rinse sounds so satisfying 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Great clean 🧼
beautiful tenacity, great results!
wow i didnt know a 14hp truckmount could make that suction, i was expecting to not even hear it from the wand whats the hg's on that?
I only do residential with, like, 95% being 125' or less runs. It's 14" hg, which is the same lift as the bigger units, just can't run longer than 200' vac hose. It would struggle at 200+.
@@Pro-XOKC good to know those units are priced right, definitely looking into purchasing one of the panthers and the lift is good
