time to end the light truck exemption.
We like our 2000 excursion. Works with our business and family. If it had a 6 speed transmission from later fords and standard locking diffs it would be perfect :)
I can't wrap my head around that car being 40 years old.
Timeless styling like a space shuttle.
I wonder if there are any training vids for 1992 Sables somewhere.
I SEEN THIS COUPLE YEARS BACK AND COULD NEVER FIND IT AGAIN UNTILL NOW! THANK YOUUUUU!!!!🙏🙏
"we can save money on the dash board materials...."
I was planned to have a slotted grille, but the idea got scrapped
“… Hello and welcome to the exciting world of Ford Explorer…..!” ❤
I wish Ford would bring these back. Im looking to buy a V10 soon
Armrest always breaks, rough ride, noises, back seats don't fold up, horrible engine with the chain rattle that blows it up. Only thing I really like is the back large window that's goes down wish trucks had that nowadays.
I wonder if some of the fleet test vehicles are still out there
6:14 the thing actually sold 80,000 more units than expected.
Well in 1994, not 1993.
I really enjoyed this training video it's very informative
Shitty ass truck. Shitty transmissions
That car still looks amazing in 2024
I've got a 96 had it for 14 years and I love it
I got a 96 I've had it for 14 years and I love it
They hoped to sell 150,000 trucks in 1994. They ended up selling almost a quarter million. This truck was such a hit. I bought one new in 1998. It's still my daily driver 26 years later.
Quite possibly the last good looking truck ever built.
Last known footage with the dash still.
I gained so much insight from Rick Titus - Drivers Talk Radio. Motorweek and others do a good consumer general review. But Rick actually is explaining what all of the engineering components mean and how Ford beats the competition. I got insight on how Ford is built tough. Like the welding in the bed of Ford compared to Toyota or the importance of leaf springs and auto locking differentials. I will say that this video does not always mention Chevy, Toyota and Dodge (they left out Nissan for some reason too). Like Chevy was not mentioned with the fuel economy, bed or acceleration test when towing but Dodge and Toyota (bed too) were. I trust Rick Titus here but it seems like if the competition does good the do not mention it (other than Ram's motor mount in the start). Could just be for the video to be shorter or budget reasons but I would have liked all 4 to always be compared in each test.
These were junk! The Explorer has downhill badly since the 2nd generation ended.
Mine is the exact same color as that but a 2000. Has over 342K on it and the Legendary 7.3L is still going strong! Lifted with new 4" springs running 35's it gets 17 mpg on the highway! I'm 65 and they way it's going that truck will outlast me!
So this was Mercury’s version of the Ford Freestyle. They should have kept this design!!

A FN TOUGH LOOKING TRUCK...IT SAYS...BRING IT ON !!!!!
Bandit Historical Archives do you have any videos of the operation of the electronic 4 wheel drive in the Aerostar?
3:44 lol yeah I always thought it's funny how all sport Trac owners I've seen have either been women or guys who mod off-road cars
I still want this car
💪🏾🙏🏾🤞🏾❤️ I'm buying one
my grandpa drove a 1998 dodge second gen before he died and now when i get old enough to drive i am going to get it
What software did you use? I'm looking to enhance both the audio and video quality of the extended "Taurus For Us" commercial and upload it here to TH-cam. Capcut did an okay job and it is slightly higher quality but it didn't really fix it like I was hoping it would
If it's a one time thing, use neural love.
Dodge RAM.👍👍👍
watching this like "oh that's broken, that's broken too"
I worked @ nearby Chrysler Assembly Plant. Retired U.A.W. Local 136
2000 ZX3 - the very car that got me from the San Francisco bay area to Tallahassee Florida in 4 days.
1994 Dodge ram 1500. I'll drive it forever.
I had 1986 Merkur it was a great car I just loved it as 19 year old :)
Gotta love the dodge styling which mimics the semi trucks
Wish it was all true. Should have gone with the e30. Shit.
This test was such bullshit. Most roll overs happen during sharp turning emergency maneuvers. They act like thousands of victims were just lying about it.
Thanks!
Ram changed the rules!
Fantastic. Thanks for sharing
Also notice the prototype trucks with the large script "D O D G E" across the width of the tailgate, i like the look but it was considered conventional at the time, they made the right decision with the smaller, offset "DODGE" script on the upper corner of the tailgate.
Great video, im a huge Dodge truck fan and have seen pictures online of the "louisville slugger" and "phoenix" concepts/prototypes and it was clear that they were resting on old styling and basing them on what was on the road in the late 80s instead of looking ahead. The "slugger" was NEVER going to fly because they were trying to go with a modular, one size fits all approach by making the chassis and most of the body panels ahead of the bed to be interchangable between full size truck and full size van, which left the truck version looking more like a van with a stubby front end (looks very similar to the then-updated late 90s Ram Van) and as a result couldnt fit the V10 or Cummins under the hood. They then moved the design responsibility to the AMC team shortly after Chrysler aquired them (between this move and the control they got on the LH project you could tell the Chrysler guys had no confidence in themselves and felt the AMC guys to be more creative even though Chrysler bought THEM not the other way around). What came out of that, the "phoenix" was basically an upscaled 1st gen Dakota that was a really good looking truck in ny opinion, square with rounded edges, but looked almost identical to what would become the '92-'96 F series (some of the best looking ford trucks ever in ny opinion) but got ho-hum responses from consumer focus groups and when asked, most of the participants thought the truck was a Ford or maybe a Chevy. This reaction is what they needed to go ahead with the radical design that would become the '94 Ram. If they would have gone ahead with the "phoenix" i feel like they would have had a nice looking, but sonewhat conventional and boring, durable dependable pickup, but that decision probably would have led to Dodge leaving the truck market altogether, with them feeling like they could never conpete against Ford of GM in the full size truck segment.
The car version of a one hit wonder!
Bought a 1996 Indyram after getting my first job out of college, still have it, been a great truck. Just picked up a 2001 quadcab off road addition with no rust and only 63,400 miles. Plan to keep them both forever.
Sadly these Excursions never came with manual transmissions from factory just like many super duty F-series trucks
Woooow
