Wasting time - The first video - Keeping TH-cam happy
“I think…” yeah right
Or turn the tape over
Why not measure from the bottom?
The tape would still be bent at the top once you reach the ceiling
BTW, congrats on the 0.5K subs. Onwards to 0.5M subs 😂😂
Thank you. I think the 48hr van build should sort it out
Woop woop! I like a challange!
Apparently we do too 😂
Buy a Hultafors tape measure and you will never go back!
Top tip, earth bond wire as a belt with foil tape adorned, pull foil tape and peel backing tape at same time, tear the foil as required but not the backing tape, no need to fiddle finding the end of the foil as the backing tape will be longer or having a third arm trying to reach the roll that's on the floor or taking the skin of the lips
Another method. Tape end at bottom measure to the top of half way board. Tape end at top measure to top of halfway board. Add the two measurements together
Thank you. I been asking the same thing every day at work 🤣
Happy to help!
That was not a quick question, that was painfully slow
Or do what the useless yanks do and measure in inches so its 36 and 11/35 inches long 😂
What happened to feet and inches, the metric system is crap
Or use an elastic band and really mess it up 😮
The rape measure body is a known thickneas
What a load of rubbish
Use a laser measure… Job done.
Answer. Dont bend it
The body of the tape measure has it's width on it just add that to the amount of tape that comes out 👍 my tapes body it 57mm for instance
The tape have a case which is a size on it, very simple, why complicates life.
I don’t mess about with millimetres
You measured from 200 mate not 100 😂
that turned out to be helpful. Thank you
You're welcome!
That scribing..... just perfect. Loving the series more and more with each new episode. Subs steadily climbing as well. Happy to see that. Soon up to 47K 👍👍
Thank you very much!
Not if you hold the tape measure at a fucking angle like that!
Have you got the groundforce team coming as well, least you can get rid of that crushed box of screws
🏊♂️it will be like swimming through mud but we will get there
😂 can’t wait
Or just use the width of the tape measure which is written on the back then add that to your measurement lol
Have you got any suggestions for which products to use and best way to apply please?
If your hand painting, I really like the acrylic emulsion applied with a good quality brush. I find both Matt and satin sit and sand nicely. If your going spray using a compressor then an epoxy 2 pack paint. You would need breathing apparatus for this.
Great, thanks. I will be hand painting. Any recommended brands/products for base and top coat please?
Yeah
Adding introduces error and complication. Just use the curve.
Straight and vertical would help
Good tip!! Two pieces of timber marked at the lap is the my most accurate way. Especially as it avoids any need for calculations, its visual and avoids human error. All this said, accuracy is not determined by the smallest measurement to the tightest size, rather it is accurate when the tolerance required following a measurement has been accounted for.
That would work well thumbs up for that!
And make sure the tape is vertical or you’ll be adding millimetres to the measurement.
Brillliant very basic, so easy to follow
Glad you enjoyed the video. Your comments are appreciated
Wow! The level of care you demonstrate in every step is just colossal. You put that vertical timber on the off side in and out some 8 times just to make sure it was correct. Excellent show of experience as well when you mention that the distance between the end of the bed and the front of the van is 8 ft, thus a length of a plywood sheet. I'm not surprised people keep coming back to your videos to check how to do the job properly. Thanks again for an excellent tutorial. I'm everyday more and more convinced I should NOT start my project someday soon but leave it to the professionals 😇😇😇😇
You know where we are if you need us. Thanks as always
@@coopedupcampersbusiness Your attention to detail is selling the idea to me very well.
@@WagnerGimenes you can do it and if not, you know where we are
TOP TIP on how to scribe very accurate lines you want to cut, in this example, a new panel to fit inside a van being converted. This is part of the long form video featured th-cam.com/video/KDduzDfw14Y/w-d-xo.html
great info 👍👍👍👍
Thank you
You (or possibly it was me?) missed the bit where you discussed the rationale behind which van to choose, and why you chose a Movano / Master - Did you cover this somewhere?
The truth is I bought a van for my kitchen fitting business as my red Transit let me down. Then we decided to go back to building campervans as that’s what we love to do. So instead of buying something else I chose to use the Movano. Red Transit is back in action.
Measure up, 😂😂😂
The question was….how do you accurately measure to a point where you have no option other than to let the tape measure curl around. If you watch it again you will see I said instead of measuring from the top I would just measure from where I did to demonstrate the technique
Or use the body.. or measure to the most round part of the bend😊
Better still put it at the bottom and roll it out to the top at the back of the opening
How about turning the tape upside-down ...that would be too easy
Took to long to find this
That's not always going to work is it...
@@larry365 in this circumstance it will. Two rods and a clamp if you need it spot on.
@@140rware this circumstance was for demonstration purposes only, obviously.
TURN THE TAPE THE OTHER BLODDY WAY!
Exactly that’s the first thing I thought 👍
The tape still looked bent
Another method: many tape measures body’s have the width of the body printed on them. Instead of bending the tape, keep it straight, place the body against the surface. Note the measurement, add the tape body width.
Why not measure from the bottom to the top..
True
The point I believe is what happens when the tape measure is used from the top to the bottom, as in ceiling to floor. There’s only one flat end on the tape measure, so if it’s touching the floor and spooling out, the tape measure bends and you can’t measure accurately to the ceiling
Why not have more choices
Mission impossible, this message will self destruct 😂😂
😅
I appreciate how you explain things! I’m just about to invest in a crafter so these videos are very useful, thanks
You are so welcome! Really appreciate your kind comments. Would be great to see any video clips or photos of your progress!
