Yes, add more oil to each successive layer but do not overdo it. One drop of linseed oil, or walnut oil, will increase the needed additional oil. An eye dropper for this use in a good thing.

Sennelier list grain oils as an ingredient in the new green oil solvent. I know of no grain oil that is synonymous with permanence. Linseed oil comes from flax and walnut oil is just that, from walnuts. About this item Bio-solvent based, made from sustainable raw materials such as vegetable oils and grain Travel-safe and convenient; can be brought into a plane It is important to be aware of the slightly longer drying time

Odorless is triple distilled kerosene and it removes much of the smell but does not reduce the number of hydrocarbons. It is the semi-undetectable hydrocarbons that are making you sick or lightheaded. Just because you cannot smell them doesn't mean they are gone.

How about a bit of turpentine /solvent in the oil. I see some people do it but fear it may be too harsh on the painted film. 2 months dried painting.

H E L P anyone. Is my understanding correct? If I use the exact same amount of Walnut Alkyd Medium with each new layer of paint, I don't have to be concerned about following the fat over lean principle? I'm supposing because each of the previous layers are already almost dry chemically when touch dry? Is that true? That would make sense I suppose? I must understand this for sure before I use this medium and begin oil commissioned oil portraits, because they must absolutely be archival, and hopefully I can finish each one quickly. I'm trying to switch from acrylics to oils while having a fast turn around in sales. Thanks for any help.
