It’s technically 2.5d since one side is flat. If they carved both sides it would be a 3D carve

You suggest not going above 80% of the laser source to not shorten machine life. Could you please elaborate on this a little more, exactly what parts get used up the most? I suppose the galvo mirrors. 80% of 50W is 40W, this reaches those mirrors. But what if I have a 30W machine, can I go 100%? still would be 30W on the galvo. What if I have a 100W machine? I suppose the galvos and their mirrors are the same in all these versions. Are there anything else in the laser source itself that gets used up?
Pretty sure he's just repeating what he's heard for CO2 lasers. Fibre are different.
Basically nothing lasts forever. Most fibre lasers advertise 100,000 hrs of serviceable life, and that's pretty much at nominal power settings. Doesn't matter which power version you purchase, it'll die quicker using it at full power as opposed to using standard levels. So you buy the machine according to your mission, if you need deep engraving on harder metals you'll want more power than if you're just marking so you're not running the machine as hard.

How much power is that laser? I thought UV lasers couldn't etch glass... wrong frequency
It was a 10W UV in this video, but 5W is also workable, just a little bit slower.
@@RockSolidLaser I see... what kind of speed and power did you use? I have a 10 watt too, but not much success on clear and metals...
