The Ocean Blue performed their first two albums in their entirety at select venues to commemorate the release of the new vinyl editions. Here are just some excerpts of the performance. Sorry they're not complete songs for the most part, but with The Ocean Blue it's hard not to just put your phone away and sing and dance.

The Breakfast Club - Absolutely, Positively The Original Music
Can you do a tutorial on how to get this sound?
this song smells like chlorine.
I’ve seen a lot of theatrical interpretations on TH-cam of Pink Floyd The Wall, I have to say that this one is probably my least favorite having said that, though it does have some really cool moments unfortunately unfortunately not enough of them, I really like how they worked in the dancers in certain spots they probably should’ve used them more Comfortably Numb would’ve been a great spot for the dancers that was kind of a missed opportunity. Another thing out of all the theatrical interpretations that I have found only one in my opinion got the fascist rally bit, right. Also, I do see a lot of comments of people criticizing the singer, I think he’s a good singer just not the right person for a production like this. He definitely struggles with the higher points of the album and also he’s really not much of an actor at least for my perspective. The trial was spot on. They got the characters right and that was amazing to watch. Also, I am so glad that they did not use a movie projector with the animated trial from the Pink Floyd concert and the movie. In conclusion, I will say this is a flawed masterpiece. Attached below is the link to my favorite production of The Wall this is the one I was telling you about where they got the fascist bit, right. th-cam.com/video/2B0XjkZ4Ceo/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Well, speaking as the barrister in the trial segment, as well as the fellow who produced the backing arrangement for it, I appreciate your compliments very much! I think your assessment is spot on; our production as a whole had some amazing talent but was also hindered by various obstacles, both financial and otherwise. Thank you for being able to look past some of the flaws and enjoying the rest.
Hi I notice you haven't uploaded in a while, you should definitely do more videos like these it was great! thanks

What a soothing video :)
Awesome explanation, cheers
Thank you!
also just finished this and just have to say, fantastic analysis!
is this home and journey analogy common? the other day i had watched a video randomly that mentioned it and then spent an hour trying to find it again a few days later. and not your video, one i'm kind of sure i hadn't see before is mentioning the exact same thing and worded almost exactly the same. the deja vu is real right now haha, even checked my history to be sure
Hmmm... if you ever find it again, double-check the upload date on that other video.
Really enjoyed watching this video, woulda loved to see a similar kind of assessment on stone in focus
"You don't hear it but your brain does." Excellent analysis 👏
I kinda makes sense that the best music teachers wouldn’t also have big youtube channels. You are the best tho xx Keep teaching or youtubing or doing things as well as you have done in this video at any rate. 🫶
I swear everytime i listen 2 seconds of this song i feel depressed hahaha. It just throws a musical spell on me.
fascinating thing is that james knew none of the theory that you’re explaining here - just got there by feeling and exploring
Oh yes! He was responding to the same things.
@@PetersPianoShoppe Love the video, great explanation. Thank you. On the production it also feels like he's slowly fading the main melody into the countermelody leaving you lost there, until finally hitting you with the main including a hopeful high line.. and then you're back where you started
make more stuff like this!

Why what Feel It baby ❤
It's just perfect
I'm sitting here crying over music theory.
I imagine a different top note on the last chord
Thank you❤
really cool, thanks for sharing.
It’s worth noting Aphex is very much into “avant- grade” sound artists… which is probably why he tried doing the sleep thing. I’ve always wondered if he’s truly technical about theory or is he simply a born Prodigy. I’d probably go with the latter.
It's still the I,IV,V,VI which is the most used chords in all pop music
I am producing a retrospective film on Roger Waters. Could I please ask permission to maybe use a small clip of this video? Kind regards Barry
I get so emotional anytime i see covers of popular electronic/ambient music. People can talk as much shit as they want about electronic production but the fact is these tunes and these chords will live on, wether its in our heads, made on computer, or covered with real instruments they are all beautiful and the meaning remains.
How to create this beautiful sound/tone ? I wish one day to have a keyboard, and play this tune, exactly how the album version sounds like
Hi Dexter.... the pad here is just a warm analog pad (nearly every synth or workstation has some patch that's "warm analog pad" or similar) that I put a lowpass eq on and rolled off much of the highs, and then I boosted the mids subtly. This is NOT how the original sounds; on the album, Richard D. James is playing what sounds like a flute sample that's pitched low, so the formant shift is lowered and it has this ghostly quality. There's probably also a pad layered in there, but the breathy flute thing is what really comes through. This digital piano I'm playing here doesn't feature any sampling so I couldn't do that for this video.
Thank you! Great explanation! Would be great if you could explain Roygbiv by the Boards of Canada.
one could also argue this is in D lydian.
this chord progression is so inspirational to me
I think the minor key is psychological/cultural. Other musical traditions associate certain minor key songs with happiness.
Please make another lesson
I'm not a musician but closest I can think of is how colour works on the soul. If you look at the colour combinations of Matisse they are quite musical. It is very odd how these elements, sound or colour have some innate correspondence to what we might call moods. You can see the religious element singing and so on in most cultures. I think Itten was exploring these kinds of things in his Bauhaus teachings on form and colour.
It's evocative, it gets the people going
I love how your analysis is driven by emotion and admiration towards the piece, not just a pure theoretical dissection of notes
Thank you! The emotional part is very important. Theory can be fun to break down and analyze a tune, but we must always remember that notes are written to express an artistic intent, and our emotional reaction to a song may get us closer to that intent than the theory can.
Chord progressions based around the 6 when minor or 4 when major often evoke a lot of feeling
Explaining this extraordinary emotional music is extraordinary emotional.
Ahh yes. The Mobius loop from which there is no escape. I hear that when we reach that point, whatever happened will happen again.
"....where time becomes a loop.... ....where time becomes a loop.... ....where time becomes a loop... ....where time becomes a loop...."
This track is outrageously beautiful with only this simple melody, it’s like it’s sacred or something
Agreed.
Nice analysis. Ive always understood this intuitively, but its nice to be able to put words to it. Though im pretty sure rdj would never explain it like that. I think he just has a godlike natural musical intuition
Thank you
I am sorry, I don't mean to be rude but I think you completely mix the chord 'functions'. I don't think you can call D major a 6th - it would rather be a 4th, as your tonal centre is rather A major than F# minor (they are strongly related anyway). I have got your point and technically you may be right but you will confuse many people this way. If you call A major a 3rd - this is completely wrong. It is not a 3rd. But as I said - I don't mean to be rude. We all love the same music, don't we? Peace.
That's ok! You hear the tonal center as A major. I hear it as F# minor. As I hear it, the D major is the 6th in the F# minor scale. You can certainly analyze it as a piece in A major if you wish! But my analysis is correct as an F# minor piece.
The reason for that is simple to me: if you start with F# minor, you suddenly don’t have dominant and subdominant in this piece. But if your centre is A major - you do have E major and D major which fall in those categories accordingly. Maybe we’re both right, we just see it differently.
Thank you Peter! Why did you stop your lessons? Your explanation so clear.
Michael.. thanks so much for your comment. I went to law school, which, being a cruel mistress, absconded with nearly all my free time. I have always desired to return and record more videos; music has always been my passion. With luck and perseverance, I'll do it one day.

2:24 similar to the main theme of the matrix as well
What on EARTH ever happened to Don Davis? He was poised as one of the new generation of film composers that really had a distinct sound and approach, not just another Zimmerphile from Remote Control. And then, after some action pictures and the Matrix Sequels, he seemed to get typed and settled into a long run of video games and TV. Which is fine.. I mean, any composer who can consistently work is a success, believe me. But I lament that he and others as talented as he didn't take us into a new era of film music that didn't truly suck. Anyway, clearly Davis listened to good music. ;-)
6/ 1/ 3/ 7/ 6 This sequence, this designation. A recurring theme. A knot. Set and augmented by voice and inversion. Homebound, following that familiar path; a weathered groove, scored by errant tone and steadfast cadence. This dreamspun succour, uncovered by the dip of sun, the rush of stars. Inescapable. Unbound by resolution in form. It is in the seeking that we find. This, our haven, our home, our ark. We hang our hats, at rest in grateful lament, slumped in red-eyed tribute. Home. If nothing else, we can call this home.
Please continue writing
Every now and then people on youtube come through with the goods
The reason I love Aphex Twin is because though he is an electronic artist, he covers such a wide range of sound. You can go from a total acid trip to a cloud up in the heavens with his music.
Absolutely true.
"though"? Why would being an electronic artist stop him from being varied?
@@alphalax7747 if we're comparing the general population of electronic artists to Aphex Twin, it's pretty insane to think about how creatively free Aphex Twin is sonically. He's a cut above the rest for a reason. I see what you're getting at tho, many people write off electronic artists as just guys pressing buttons. These days it seems that opinion is not as common as it used to be.
@@zsebestien7050 At this point a lot of people have tried "just pushing buttons" only to realize there's still only one Aphex Twin.
