So any essential criteria, use an example of when you have used that skill and how using that skill gave a positive outcome for the patient/client. If you don't have an example just make one up or think of someone else's situation as an example. There will be more detailes videos on here I am sure though. Good luck

    Hi, can i work as an assistant psychologist. After doing BSC psychology with addiction studies which is a 3 year undergraduate degree?

    • @eleanorpsych4870
      @eleanorpsych4870 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, thank you for commenting. If your undergrad is BPS accredited then you can apply for AP posts. I’d recommend reading the person specification and check any caveats as every post is different! But as long as you have a BPS accreditation you can apply, I think most if not every post will want your undergraduate degree to be BPS accredited but as always it’s useful to read each posts individual person specification. Hope this helped!

      @@eleanorpsych4870 Hi Eleanor but my degree is bps accredited but it is a psychology with addiction studies so can i work as assistant psychologist which is related to addictions or in they just asking for any bps accredited psychology degree

    • @eleanorpsych4870
      @eleanorpsych4870 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I would imagine you would be able to apply for any AP post, not just in addiction! Even though you specialised in your undergraduate, it was BPS accredited so you have been taught the same content as degrees without a specialisation. My understanding is that for it to be a accredited, degrees must cover specific content over the three years (most courses ensure this is covered in the first two years and then in third year you get to pick options/specialities). So to my understanding and knowledge, you will have covered the same as anyone doing a straight psychology degree (or else it wouldn’t be accredited!). Overall, you should be able to apply for any of course you may want to specifically look at addiction if that is still want interests you! With all that being said I would still read any person specification before applying - and of course, there is nothing wrong with applying for a post and see where it gets you!

    Hey Eleanor, I’ve recently applied for a trainee mental health practitioner role with my local trust! I just wondered if you have any feedback from your experience so far? I know it may of been different through lockdown but I’m hoping you have a positive experience. Also, in terms of the contract you gain whilst study are you entitled to annual leave ect.. or is this not possible due to the intensity of working a full time job whilst studying? Megan :)

    • @eleanorpsych4870
      @eleanorpsych4870 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Megan, Thank for for watching! I’ve enjoyed my time on my course, although working from home and accessing lectures virtually has been quite difficult! I have found the uni side of things interesting, and it can be difficult at times although I personally haven’t found it overwhelming! In terms of annual leave, if you are working in the NHS you should be entitled the normal amount of annual leave, I think it works at at around 3-4 weeks there or thereabouts. It can be difficult to think about when to take it and uni don’t often like you missing it, however you will have a summer break during the course so it might be good to take some time then! Taking your annual leave is really important so you don’t get burnt out! Eleanor

I personally did Bsc in economics, finance and management as an international student back in 2011. 1) Do I need to a one year psychology conversion course or anything like that before I apply for pwp training in the uk? 2) Can a pwp eventually progress on to cbt or psychotherapist roles? Or, is there a shorter way to get into that? Your answer will be highly appreciated.

    Hi, great video! I had a question, I'm currently doing my masters in forensic psych and have to do an assignment where I have been asked to review a case, with a view to develop a formulation of their difficulties and how they relate to their Personality Disorders and Substance Misuse. I was just wondering if there was a time limit on the predisposing factors, as in this case the individual was put in custody for setting fire to his ex's house, as he was jealous of her new relationship. He was violent whilst in custody too. So I was wondering if his ex starting a new relationship was a predisposing factor for his violence in custody as he expressed anger toward her for 'putting him in jail'?

    • @eleanorpsych4870
      @eleanorpsych4870 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Laura! Thanks for reaching out and I’m glad you enjoyed the vid! I would say there is no time limit on predisposing factors! The idea of predisposing factors is that they are the factors which could make someone more vulnerable to issues so this could stem back years and might include childhood factors and biological factors I.e parents divorce, parent mental health, bereavements, bullying ect! Hope that makes sense! X
