Thanks, Matthew and Bryan! Very candid video. I had a chance to listen to the trailer on your website. I am not a gamer myself, so I never realized the level of instrumentation that could be used in one. I especially enjoyed the piano behind the piece (made it feel light and airy) as well as the live strings and woods. Good luck on the nominations!

This was a great interview. Thanks for posting it Bryan. Very insightful. I have to say I've been ignoring the 'game' avenue as a direction for my composing. Matthew has quite inspired me to go investigate. Hearing the difference between game and film scoring was super interesting, and his layering in of real instruments in to his recordings is brilliant. Thank you Matthew for your insight. I'll now go listen to your music!!!

I seriously recommend watching this again after the live review. I am digesting it so much better when not wondering if mine is the next one to be reviewed lol. Priceless advice as always.

Great information in this interview!! Thanks for sharing. I am actually just starting to write music for my very first indie video game, so this was very helpful. My project is much smaller, but I am really excited. I will probably try to record as much stuff live myself, as I play a few instruments well enough to do that. I plan to get as creative as possible there. Thanks again for sharing this, and I will check out the game and soundtrack!

Great demo 👏, Ableton user, I have to export at 16bit sound to video in abelton, also use track markers sometimes for breakpointing the scenes.

For my take on this, I definitely had "Blade Runner" in mind and my thought was, how would this ad look as one of those large display vids in "Blade Runner 2049"". That's one reason I chose the lead synth sound I did. Donnie Alan

Guys . I enjoyed the show . Lot of insight . Thanks for the kind words on my score . Interesting that it turns out that the clip has an underlying dark agenda . I did notice it was a little weird. My thought was that who ever was in charge ( and paying my check ) wanted it to look like a dream come true. so I went with the way the visual looked . Score should embellish without being noticeable .

My further thought is - and this is just me - I always figure if I'm not writing a melody then I'm doing sound design, not music and I like trying to write music too much.

Thank you for the feedback. I was stuck between it being a real advert, and it being an advert from a Black Mirror episode. I thought high energy might be counter to the relaxing atmosphere of a medical procedure. I figured all tech companies have a little three or four note motif, like "Intel Inside." I will certainly take on board a less melodic approach when the clips are dialogue heavy. All notes gratefully received.

Have gone a little more on the electronic side for this. Great video to work with. Hope to do it some kind of justice.

Thank you for your review. It is embedded in my brain when you said Brian that ' the music is talking too much with the dialogue' in parts. Taken on board. And when you said Stefan, that the stabs took away from the dialogue. Basically, let the dialogue be the music as that can be as powerful. Well done also to all the submissions. Great stuff.
