Hunting Old Yella
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 23 ก.ค. 2016
Join me on my gold adventure
G'day, I'm Slim
I'm having a go at filming my adventures, hunting old yella (gold) in the Eastern Goldfields (Kalgoorlie, Leonora, Laverton, Leinster) of Westtern Australia.
I'm a metal detectorist, living full time in the bush, living off what I find.
This channel is an ameture production, I am in no way a professional 🤣

Hi Crew Mount Germatong and the range is famous for sheading a extreme amount of gold. The "Speckling Patch" from the 1890-1900"s and the "Rabbit Warren" from the 1980"s, both came from the mountain range.

Thanks mate 👍
SWEET FIND!
Thanks mate 👍
WOW" FANTASTIC! WAY2GO from 0c Idaho! newsub
Thanks mate. Yes was a beauty 😍
I’d try those rocks in difficult
Still noisy in difficult
New sub and a new Xcoil owner 😊
Happy days, mate 👍 What one did you buy? I have the 17" & 22" cc's. 12", 15" & 20" spirals. I prefer the spirals
How’s the spiral compared to the cc?
@jenkosgoldadventures The CC are not sensitive all the way to the edge of the coil. The transmit winding is on the outside and the receive winding is in the middle. They are hard to pin point. People patch hunt with then but they are designed to be overlapped, chaining cleaning up a patch. I prefer the spirals
How does the 22 go over flogged ground? Does it find more gold?
I have not been to flogged ground yet with it. But I do prefer the spiral coils
The joyous laughter is priceless
@Nowadays-u5u Yep, I got very excited and they still bring a huge smile to my face. Thanks for watching
Bloody beautiful mate! Gee, that ground looks sandy, compared to the normal gravelly soil of WA!
Thanks, mate 👍 Depends on where you hunt. This is the lower part of the Eastern Goldfields. The area is bore wash covered geology (like calcrete), so Im thinking a Paleozoic channel, there is a CZL hill/feild with an Achaean Chert ridge and basalt surrounds. It's a valley that has test holes over 1.5 meters deep and no signs of bedrock
Good vid mate. The moral of the story is ALWAYS use Normal where possible, which is what I do. Go the X Coils!
Thanks mate. Yes, it will always punch deeper. The 2 big nuggets I found (see other videos) were both in difficult 👍
Great comparison but fair bit of difference in size of coil the 15” being the larger coil is always going go deeper than a 9” ,be good to mount the 15” on the 6 if it was possible I don’t think there be much difference in depth then ✨🍀⛏👍😉
There was supposed to be a 16x10 but that was 3 yrs ago lol. I prefer the 7000 over the 6000, I sold my 6 in July
@ i prefer the 6 over the 7 mainly because of weight my average outing is ten hours and feel like I could keep going as dark approaches banks are a breeze to detect due to weight of machine ✨🍀⛏👍
@gordondigsgold1139 just get a hip stick and do rotator cuff exercised, mate. I swing the 20" spiral all day with the 7000, bloody easy as and I'm 50
Mate, the nuggets are supposed to get bigger as you go down the slope!!!, just those 2 chunks at current gold price near on 20k, plus the excitement of digging them up, lucky you!!
Yes, mate, it made my month, that's for sure. The ground is so deep I bought a 20" spiral x-coil to go back and hunt for more.
@auintogold4725 Thanks for watching mate. I can swing my 20" sprial X-coil all day long, when you would of given up with you 19". As for the 17x13" I personally did not like it one bit!. There is no butchering of and coils to make the patch lead, I made my own and will be making more soon, very neat and tidy. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but if you get a chance to use a X-coil, I but you dont look back.
Exhilarating!! Awesome find 👍
Thanks, mate. As you can tell, I was stoked, to say the least 🤣
Holy Moses Slim!!!, what a nugget mate. Please stay there and cross hatch with the biggest coil you have got. Maté congratulations. It gets my gold itch up. Cheers Greg
Thanks Greg 👍 I bought a 20" spiral X-coil special order, so I had to wait a bit. I will be going back and giving it a sold month of hunting more on a new 40E. There are some test holes around the place, and they are over 1 meter deep and not on bedrock. Im pretty sure it's an old Paleozoic channel.
Nice work mate. You know their good when you hear them ‘tink’ off your pick. Be good to see it cleaned up.
Did you hear it? I didn't. More videos to come my friend, dont forget to look at my shorts. Thanks mate 👍
Fantastic Nuggets
Thanks for subscribing and coming on my adventures, Mandy. Feel free to look at my playlist for 2023 & 2024 for some other great nuggets.
Very nice. Hope it's a big patch. Cheers
Thanks mate
That’s what it’s all about unearthing big yella nice chunk right there great find mate ✨🍀⛏👍
🍻 mate. They are hard to find, but when ya do, wow, what an amazing feeling, just can not stop smiling. Please subscribe for more
Damm..nice piece. Was that 1 oz. 19 grams? It's a really nice lookin piece of gold
Hi mate. Yes, it sure is. It was 50 grams out of the ground, but now it's cleaned, its weight is 48 grams.
@HuntingOldYella Beautiful chunk. Thanks for taking the time to share!
@snowvalley11 if you have subscribed and hit the notification bell, I think you will enjoy the channel
Hell yeah
Look for part 2 mate
Nice chunk mate, X Coils rule! Cheers, Rick
Hi Rick, Im really enjoying them 👍. Expensive out lay but soon pays for themselves.
@auintogold4725 Maybe, maybe not! No one had found it yet and it is a apparently flogged out area with 7000's. Keep positive buddy !
Great chunk mate. Thats detecting….. big coils and real gold, not this fly sh!t I watch blokes digging with the 6.
Cheers mate. I sold the 6000 for this 7000 and 3 X-coils. I also bought a 20" and 12" spiral. The 12" has made the 7000 like a 6000 and keeps the bills paid while I search for the bigger stuff.
Fantastic mate, what a great find.water worn as well maybe something happened there a long time ago.My guess an ancient creek bed, do you think??,anyway go the 7 and the XCoil.More to come,Cheers Greg
@wdgreg589 Thanks, Greg. Dirt movement can also cause the same type of wear. It originally would have been 3 large crystals. It has the Dendritic crystal pattern
Nice well done
Thanks mate. I could not stop smiling for a week 😆
Nice one mate, I reckon 2.1 and the mystery target is …. 🤣
Im hopeless at this editing. There was another nugget 1.5g. The next few videos will revieal the secrets, and they are amazing to me. Yep 2.1 is the next video 😊
I will pass on the coldie, but thanks for the offer mate. That quartz has been in hydrofluoric acid ?
Yep, 35% It's great at bringing out the gold
Its a big country. I love how people say the gold is gone or the old boys got it all. They didnt, and it isnt.
Yes, the old flogged ground where people that go low and slow find gold.
@ I watch a lot of people detect. Most have no idea how to swing their coils and search properly. In shallow ground under 300mm its easy to clean out patches, but in deeper ground or areas with hidden drainage channels in the bedrock, its near impossible. Ground moisture levels play huge rolls as well.
@adzoutnabout888 💯 But that's more for us. I call most of the new 6000 users "Whipper Snippers"
Impressive video, with good camera range, What Model Drone did you use.?
Thanks mate. It's a DJI Mini Pro 4. I have some other.videos where is send it down mine shafts
@@HuntingOldYella Mine Shafts.? That's a pretty expensive drone for that, doesn't it lose signal.?
@honestguynone2707 I got the flyaway and crsh insurance. No, as I can lean over the edge, I've crashed in the shaft twice and got it out, no worries. One day, I will film a shaft with gold in the wall, 🤣
Hi Slim, I guess one of those caravans was yours mate.A very good Birds Eye view of some gold areas we hope have a few nuggets . Cheers Greg
Hi Greg. No mate, that's why i didn't go to close. This is the area of all the july videos / nuggets come from
Nice
Cheers mate.
Doing well mate. Are these patches one’s you went over with earlier Minelabs ?
Thanks mate. No, it's just pending ground that people missed good nugget on. It was a old camp
Very well done mate, nice looking ground. Cheers
Thanks Michael 👍 This is just off a large range that produced a lot of gold. 1 spot, which is about 50m from me, is "The Rabbit Warren." A quite famious very rich occurance that the rabbits were living in lol
Congrats buddy! She’s a ripper 👍👍
Thanks mate.
That’s a bower birds nest, they gather gold and glass to attract there mates for courtship. We humans do it a bit differently, money money, and more money 😊 Cheers Greg
That's correct. I see lots of them in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia
About $30 an hour, working for yourself, not great but it’s doing what you like. Cheers Greg
It's all about the lifestyle, I dont need much, just freedom.
Sweet find mate
Thanks mate, I'm pretty stoked.
Slim have you got a 7000 as well mate.Just that with gold like that reef shape, I would be going very slow with the machine in normal with a 17” X Coil ,to just pickup what the 6 missed at depth. Cheers Greg
Hi Greg. At this time, I did not have a 7000 but soon sold the 6000 and bought a 7000 with a 15" spiral, 17" cc and 22" cc X-Coils so I can go back over the area. The gold wasn't very sharp (reefy) compared to some bits I've found.
@ That’s the go . I don’t think the 6000 is quite in the race ,once you bring in the 7000 with those coils. Good one ,I would be waiting for that video slim👍Are you right on a fault line or contact zone.??.Cheers Greg
It's Leonora side of Mount Germatong off Nambi Rd. No fault, but the Moutain produced truck loads of gold
Did you recover your drone?
Hi Mike, yes mate. I must of uploaded the wrong video. I got it up with some of fencing wire and it flew fine.
Well done mate
Thanks mate
Great work slim. It looks easy going walking there, gold just not too plentiful though,so hope you walk onto a patch soon. Cheers Greg
Fingers crossed! Mate
Good luck over there mate. Looks ok ground, and gold is there ,you can’t get any better than that. Are you very far from the nearest town?, stay safe. Until next time . Cheers Greg
Hi Greg This was about 70kms North of Leonora, so not too far, bit of gold there. Cheers mate
Looks fantastic. I've looked at similar things. Makes mine look Stone Age
These are very cheap for what they do. I bought this one on eBay as the local stores wanted over $500 for them
The quality of your footage is epic
Thanks mate. All on my Samsung S21, great camera's 👍
Love your content, I miss that side of the country
Thanks, mate. Yes, Australia is an amazing place, I love exploring it, and I still can not get over the fact that I can dig gold nuggets out of the ground 😀
Awesome guide for anyone wanting to learn about smelting
Thanks mate.
Good size tank for the biggest state in Aus! Pack Water
Yes, water is a must 💯%
Hey Slim, Thanks for posting. It's beautiful country and cool content. Keep it coming!
Thanks, mate. 30 videos are scheduled, and 8 shorts, so keep watching. I'm also heading back out for another trip, so loads more to come.
Beautiful part of the country for those who haven't been. What do you take pics on?
This was all on my Samsung S21 phone. 2024 I have a Dji Action 4 camera and Samsung phone.
Hey man, tel us about your hardware?
Hi mate, sorry, what do you mean by hardware?
Yooooo!!!!!!!!!!
More to come, and some improvements to the set-up also
Love the old sandman wreck, worth more than a years gold if it was straight mate. Cheers Greg
Hi Greg This was a HT, HG or HK, they were never Sandmans, someone just fitted some GTS flutes in the guards
