Suzuki C50 BrakeAway Cruise Control

In this video I installed the BrakeAway MotorCycle Cruise Control on a 2007 C50 Boulevard. The install took me about 30-40 mins. I felt that this cruise control had a much better appearance than the cheaper ones on the market. If you like the video let me know, if not I really don't care. Please Subscribe!

Hobie Cat trailer repair and paint
มุมมอง 1.9K10 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the trailer for my Hobie Cat 16. I don't anything has been really done to is since it was new in 1982. Last summer I worked on the boat enough to be able to sail all summer, now it was the trailers turn to get cleaned up. This is my first video so it may not be the best but I'm learning. I learned that the iPhone battery does not last very long when doing long video. See my blog at mave...

    Wow I had no idea this was so easy! Just like doing it on a small engine heck it’s even easier than some of my dirt bikes! Great design by Suzuki.

    Where is the cheapest place to buy a decent battery for a 2005 Suzuki Boulevard C50. 805 cubic inches waiting to go for a ride!

    Looking at but not close yet to buying 2013 version. Not an experienced wrench…😗…how often does this adjustment need to be done and how would i know if it needs it when ready to buy one?TIA.

    Most folks don't realize that under normal circumstances valve clearance decreases as the miles add up. This is due to valve face to seat wear. Checking the valve adustment at regular intervals is key to preventing burned valves. Good video.

    Adjusted mine twice, just to make sure. She sure does tap....A LOT. Called a Suzuki shop and they said it should not tick/tap. I've never know an engine to tick WHEN the valves are properly adjusted. Who do I beleive?

    • @adamamundsen3157
      @adamamundsen3157 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Charles Kubiak I believe there is a mark inside if you take out the plug on the front of the left side case, but I simply pulled one spark plug out and then turned engine until compression stopped building and that is top dead center.

    Hey Adam Great video thanks for sharing. I bought my C50 new in 07' and only had the valves adjusted 1 time during the first recommended time. I now just hit 31K Miles on it so it is beyond due for a Valve adjustment. I hope to attempt this job this New Years Weekend. Take care! Brian

    Hi Adam! thanks for the vid. just did the rear cilinder. inlet needed no adjustment but outlet had no gap at all like you said. made me hesistate and i thought i did something wrong. seeing your vid made me see that it's plausible so i went on. now waiting for bloodflow in my legs again ;-) and then i'll do the front cilinder.

    I was going to do this but the timing cover plug had oil coming out of it. Is this normal or do I have a problem? Pulled the plug and oil came out I don't think oil is supposed to be in there. Any info would be grateful.

    • @adamamundsen3157
      @adamamundsen3157 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is normal for oil to be there, it is where your clutch is at. If you do the valve adjustment after you have drained the oil you would not get any oil out, you could also put a block under the kickstand which would lower the oil level enough to remove the plug.

      I believe the M109 has the same grip on it and should fit fine. I was going to take mine to put on a C90 but never got the bike, so I still have it on the C50 and use almost every day. Thanks for watching.

  • @thomasa1969

    This is just a fancier throttle lock. The bike will start to slow down before you even notice the grade of the road go up, likewise, the bike speeds up when going downhill. Again, this is NOT a cruise control.

    • @adamamundsen3157
      @adamamundsen3157 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct it is a throttle lock, but if you look at almost all of them they call them cruise control. Yes you will vary speed a little going up and down hills, but that does not bother me. To add a true electronic speed control to a simple motorcycle would be a complex and expensive undertaking, compared to the relatively low cost and easy of installing a throttle lock cruise control. But if you are of the mind to take on such a task as designing such an electronic cruise control be my guest.

    • @adamamundsen3157
      @adamamundsen3157 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      After thinking about it more a cruise control like you are talking about would actually be dangerous, because for it operate you would have to remove your hand from the throttle grip the entire time you using it, not smart at all.

    Thanks for the video. 2 1/2 hours is good for the first time, took me longer. It is a pain in the keister to adjust them accurately. The valves do tend to close up, because the heads are aluminum and the valve seats wear, causing the valve stem to move up and close the gap. If any C50/Volusia owners read this and your bike doesn't idle like an angry sewing machine, but is too quiet, get your valves adjusted. The valves can potentially get burnt and it's not cheap to rebuild those engines. When I did mine I bent the feeler gages in an upside down J with a 3/8" 90 degree tab at the top bent inward. Then I scooted the tab under the adjuster with a long screw driver. This made it much easier to assure accuracy. Also, unless you can elevate the bike on a stand, put the seat bake in place and sit on it while doing the work. Maybe next time I'll do a video.
