After leach field creation or repair the landscape is usually simply graded loam over top which, if left unmanaged, can end up leaving regrettable scars following heavy rain. Attract birds? Birds are ruinous pests for cereals and fruit (e.g. wheat, sorghum, corn, bananas, etc.)!! Maybe you could try locusts.
