Lyme Connection, Ridgefield, CT presents a book discussion with Ross Douthat: The Deep Places. Douthat, a New York Times opinion columnist and author, will discuss his battle with a devastating sickness, ultimately diagnosed as a chronic form of Lyme disease. In The Deep Places, Ross details the struggles faced by many Lyme patients as they seek a proper diagnosis and appropriate medical care-and explores the controversies that surround these insidious tick-borne diseases. During his journey, Douthat discovers the many pitfalls of modern medicine, as well as the strength and courage needed to reclaim his health.

Dr. Steven Phillips presents an innovative strategy to develop treatments for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, other neurodegenerative illnesses, aging and cancer. Autophagy is a cellular clearance mechanism whereby abnormal proteins can be cleared from the body. As such, it has potential therapeutic ramifications for the treatment of a range of disease states, inclusive of neurodegenerative illnesses...

    This is what a doctor is supposed to do…🌷👍🏻 we don’t ask for more.. I’m a nurse with neuroborreliosis in Norway. No doctor wants anything to do with me because they only follow a book that says max Doxy and no more, no clinical valuation, no individual treatment. Babesia is not even a notifiable disease. No one is talking about it, Lyme patients are ghosted. I have skied every doctor: why don’t we have ONE place to send patients hard to diagnose/treat? And the answer is: If we did that, we would have houndreds and thousands of patients, we would set focus on a problem we cannot solve- or will not. It would cost too much, take up to many resources. This is NOT OK in one of the richest countries in the world! The same is in private health care: they may lose reputation and a better job if they take Lyme patients- they have unlimited patients easily examined, the same examination with every patient, this is how I work. It’s scary and heartbreaking. I have been slowly getting better with some symptoms, but relapse, and some serious symptoms remains. One thing said in this lecture: partly treatment helps the muscle sceletal symptoms that are more earlier treated- this has been my experience, but no doctor has told me this reason until now when 8 watch this lecture! I have been thinking on this, but no doctor would listen. My biggest problem is “REVERSED POTS”- my blood pressure goes up and stays there when I stand up/move. NO DOCTOR CAN HELP- please notify me if you know something that may help me. I know nervous system is out of control, and circulation is not optimal, it has given me PTSD that no doctor wants cares enough to help me. But I stay positive, and love life, I just need a doctor who can do what he can, because I cannot be my own doctor.❤ Blessings to all patients, don’t give up, and big thanks to doctors like you, Dr. Bransfield.🌷❤

      Walford's student, Dr. Valter Longo, feels that Walford's death may have been in part because of his biosphere activities (including months of near starvation). Not so much controlled CR, as uncontrolled. This is part of what motivated Longo to create the Fasting Mimicking Diet, an attempt at bringing many of the benefits of both fasting and CR in a safer way.

    Great video, thanks for posting. You might want to add coffee to your list of substances that induce autophagy. Interestingly, both "natural" and decaffeinated coffee can trigger autophagy: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24769862 And resveratrol also induces autophagy by inhibiting mTOR: www.nature.com/articles/srep21772

    • @rhyothemisprinceps1617
      @rhyothemisprinceps1617 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, spermidine and urolithin A were missing from the list, though there are three types of autophagy and I'm not sure if he was listing inducers of all types or just a subset, and if so that's why some well-known inducers were left out?

    • @Nilsosmar
      @Nilsosmar 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      True - thanks for pointing that out. Spermidine has not only been shown to induce autophagy, but to dramatically increase lifespan. One very rich source of both spermidine and trehalose (the sugar shown to dissolve amyloid plaque) is mushrooms.

    How do I get his book and where can I get help and start getting better. I cannot find a LLMD here in Tucson, AZ. I've turned to naturals, but I still have night sweats, Insomnia, muscle pain, joint pain, GI problems, Chronic cough, chronic sinus infections, ear infections where they bleed. Nausea, vomitting, constipation, diarreah. Now my hormones are out of balance, neck pain and stiffness gets so bad i cannot move. Chronic poly pheriphal neuroapathy in arms and legs, but all my pain migrates around. I've gone to mental health cause i felt i was losing my mind with doctors that will not address the fact that I tested positive for Lyme's on a western blot in 2002. Not hating on anyone ❤... Just want to pass on some advice. Please be careful if you choose to RIFE as part of your treatment. Many yr's ago, I researched RIFE, used it for a little while and noticed a difference 👍 However, here's where my warning is important to mention. As I said I researched 1st. Yet, the problem I found with using RIFE was recommended frequencies. Many knowledgeable sounding resources, provided specific frequency for ___ "Babesia" or "Bartonella" etc. Other resources instructed running through a range of frequencies. I believe most people realize all living organisms (Bad & Good) survive at individual frequencies. Therefore, I had to stop and consider a very serious question.I.e . "How did these sources pin down the exact frequencies for each organism? And, was I unknowingly killing bad and good bacteria ??? 😕" We all have beneficial bacteria essentially needed in our bodies! Therefore, I stopped bc I didn't want to risk killing the good stuff! I admit it's been many, many years since I did Rife. Especially bc I was warned by an LLMD of the potential danger's. So, I'm not saying if it is or isn't safe. Because, IDK if there's better information and resources on using it now. I just want everyone to do their own research. Take care and good luck 🍀! 😉

      The Rife Alternator helped me tremendously, killed off the bacteria. I had to constantly detox however using supplements the doctor gave me and bathing in bicarbonate of soda which proved to be fantastic. New research has shown that chronic Lyme is the result of debris left in the body which irritates the body later on. This has to be treated differently. Inflammation is the main issue. So dealing with that now with supplements and SCIO.

      +John Sabp becuz the problems arent usually just lyme. Theyre toxins and genetic mutations. (my theory) The other thing is that everyones gonna react different to the same treatment, everyones immune systems are different. Some much stronger than others. Methylation problems, biofilm and mast cell activation are huge obstacles too. This whole problem goes much deeper than just lyme. Have you tried bee venom therapy? I have a good friend who has gone through this stuff with me and she went from a wheelchair after 8 yrs to a completely new person after doing stings 3 times a week. Shes been treating for 2 yrs and after spending a ton of money at a treatment center the one thing that helped her more than any antibiotics, (which i think are pointless unless u catch it extremely early), supplements, drips, meds etc.

    • @metalphobos3632
      @metalphobos3632 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Sabp i hear ya man. Its a fuckin joke. The inflammation is the effect but what is the cause? I think Horowitz knows more than most. And the whole lyme thing is a money maker. "Lets take everything from people who have already lost everything and are just trying survive." I personally dont care what anyone says, this was man made. Call me a crazy. Here in Canada they wont treat longer than a few weeks, they deny it most of the time and drs lose their practices over it. Ive been through almost 20 drs and not one wanted to even talk about it. Most of them wanted me on anti-depressants. I went from touring and martial arts/gym 6 days a week to bed ridden and losing everything. I guess depression swells my lymph nodes, makes me drop 20 pounds/all my muscle in 6 weeks, gives me skin and heart problems.... Sorry but this shit is a crock and i cant afford 5 grand a week for a treatment that might work, douchebags.

I ALLWAYS followed your points from the age of 16 and got borrelia from ONE tick bite two years ago. I allways eat organic and do invest most of my time and money for health. I think one of the most problems is trauma. Ive got a thrombosis from a broken leg and three diagnoses in the following month were saying i was going to die from the thrombosis. Three times i was scared to death and then all borrelia sympthoms started. So the heavy stress knocked my immune system off, DESPITE all the healthy livestyle i had all the time.
