Excellent video. This is an era of railroading I miss. Classic BN power and freight cars that have no graffiti.

Very cool! I was lucky enough to talk with someone who has been train watching in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin for 7 decades and told me how there wasn’t a platform or viewing area other than parking on 2nd Ave, and that brick building on the curve used to be a button factory.

First thing I noticed is no Graffiti on any of the rail cars.

It’s nice to see the removed switch track that went from UP track to the (now) BNSF track on the north side of this diamond junction.

Was wondering why you particularly mentioned the ditch lights on the UP Dash 8, but then remembered they were a new thing at the time. Horn on that one sounded amazing, and same for the next couple trains after it.

Very cool footage! I ran out of ottumwa yard back during the IMRL days and now I run into Ottumwa on the BNSF.

Even in 94 then wasn’t vandalism and graffiti. When did everything go bad?
