Exploring Portugal & the Douro Valley
This spring I put together a small group tour to #Portugal and the #DouroValley - We began our journey in one of my favorite European cities, #Lisbon and made our way north to #Porto. I partnered again with Riviera River Cruises. This time on the River Boat, Riviera River Cruises, The Douro Splendour as this itinerary really fit a slower more intentional experience.

My Family is from Bad Kissingen . Villa Munch Hotel was built by my Great Grandfather. All the memories as a young lad from America visiting Germany and staying in this beautiful place. My Family was known as the Neuffer . My late Grandma Elizabeth Berger was the owner of the Villa Munch . I have cousins in the town but have lost touch with them over the many years since I last visited in 1995. So recommend this wonderful town in Bavaria. Lawrence S Feldman

I was stationed in BK with the 2/11 ACR from 1978 to 1981. BK is indeed a beautiful town with beautiful people.

I do if you will be there for a bit, we just picked it up at the airport through Hertz but there were plenty to choose from

We did this just before the lockdown. It was such fun!
Although those dishes sounded nice, you did not capture real Crucian food. You had good off island cuisine brought to the island. FYI, if anything you ate reminded you of anything waffle house, it was not authentic crucian food.
Hmmm, that's an interesting take, nothing reminded me of Waffle House since I never eat there. Once in my life and it was about 45 years ago ;) thanks for your comment though

It's a beautiful town . You didn't mention the company Hymer though !!! The largest motorhome manufacturer in Europe. Born in Bad Waldsee and still based there with a huge factory . They have an amazing museum as well that is a must see place to visit !!

I newly moved to St Croix for a job at UVI, and I would recommend trying out the food trucks and counter-serve spots; they are as good as most full restaurants on the mainland!

Does Virgin have an all inclusive drink package?
Actually no, BUT... they do have an opportunity to purchase SAILOR LOOT, which we did a promo for about $600 for the week and didn't go through it all. We aren't heavy drinkers and you can always add to your sailor loot. I love how VV does this because if you travel with a second sailor they don't "make them" get a drink package if they don't want one, it goes to the individual not the cabin 👍

Hmmm Aruba is an island that’s super popular and they do have lots of tourists? But traps hmm I don’t feel like it’s a trap like location like Panama City or Myrtle Beach- it is expensive though

Is this all inclusive?
There are a few all-inclusives kind of on Aruba, they don't include everything but you can create packages, every property is a bit different and some include meals while others do not.
Richard the Lionheart can't have been killed at Durnstein. He died in the south of France.
Hmmm the written history suggests something differently but perhaps it is like many historical facts, they are weaved with legend too
Maybe you can clear up a question I have and get several answers: do you tip the CIE driver/tour guide? Since it's not a tipping culture, some say no, some say yes, a small amount, and some say a significant sum.....
Great question and thanks for watching - we absolutely tipped our guide who was super appreciative and thankful - we did about €10 per day per person, and yes certainly not a tipping culture like the states but the EU is 10-15% in most places for great service. Really over the top tipping 20% you don’t really see anywhere 👍
Would have loved to see more of Black owned restaurants since it is from their culture. 2 1/2 weeks there and you missed out on so much culture. I was there 5 days and spent more time with the locals who came from generations there. Big let down this video.
