Making my FIRST Game, an Action-Adventure RPG

I'm making my first ever indie game in Unreal Engine 5! The goal of this project is to create a fun, simple ARPG that allows you to create and customize a character, train and progress character skills, collect loot/gear for that character, and progress through the story and gameplay content. This project is HEAVILY inspired by Rise of Heroes, a freeware RPG game on a website called BYOND. This...
Hey, how did you rig the character because I have a model but it just t poses
Your progress is great! I've been having a hard time making progress in my game because coding is hard(I'm using unity and my pc can't run unreal engine). I've been following tutorials but most tutorials can't be used together as different tutorials often have different styles of coding and it's making it much more difficult to have a linear progress and I can't even implement what I learned to my main code without having game-breaking bugs. I hope you finish your game!
I like what you're doing. I'm on a similar path. Your videos are great.
I have tried to get a health bar in my game forever and I can’t find any videos that work any suggestions would help. Great job on the game
In unreal engine? There are plenty of tutorials on TH-cam, I promise. Anything from LeafBranch is worth a watch.
@ ok thank you
@@QuestDev thank you so much for the recommendation it work I finally have damage and health bar. Can’t wait to play the your game
Great progress for three months! I am also learning unreal engine
how much will it be?
That is a question that is many months off from being answered. It will be priced fairly, of course, but I can't give you an exact amount at this time.
Super excited to play the demo! Is there anywhere we can leave feedback/report bugs? Or is that not something you're interested in at this stage?
The discord is the best way to leave feedback :) thanks!

Let's goooo
The game is amazing! The proggress you made at such short time with no experience is outstanding and admirable! But i just want to say as a gamer, i feel like you should really really focus on the combat, since its the main drive of the game i think. In my opinion a block and a dodge abilities would already up the aim and click combat, afterthat add some abilities that the enemies can use like jump above you and attack from behind or a heavy attack to add more awareness to the player. And afterwards you can add new types of enemies that will spice up the gameplay. Of course you can also add some more magic abilities for the player, maybe even some that have specific buffs for certain enemies. And last, it would be great to see some type of ubiqe mechanic like a clash that will make you spam spacebar to win against the enemy or some magic abilities that in order to activate you gotta draw a special symbol with your cursor on a certain gui. But the game goes with a great paste so keep it up!
Damn it, there goes my project... :D Also using the Fantasy Modular Characters from Synty haha
Beautiful assets! I look forward to getting better at modeling and making them my own in time :)
Hey bro. Love the work you’ve been putting in. Awesome job. You’re a new developer right? As in you started learning recently
That I am! Super happy to have made as much progress as I have a solo rookie!
@@QuestDev dude. You inspire me. That’s crazy. I just started myself. Currently working on some small projects to learn
A question. Can’t I just play the demo instead of actually buy the game so my broke ass doesn’t have to spend a dime
Love how the game looks btw
I’m atleast second. I’m gonna steal the style 😂
Its great! The game seems very polished. But as a guy who plays a lot of these small games on steam, i think you should consider upgrading the pvp to a more engaging and intresting one. Since thats the most important thing so that your game dosent get boring quick. But overall everything else seems great
Hey thanks for the love! There currently is no PVP in the game, but I assume you're talking about combat in general, which will be expanded as development continues, promise!
This looks awesome! Great work man
So cool!!!
Hyped!
bro is so busy rushing this game he forgot to do a quality check on the trailer and left Unreal Engine gizmos in
I think it adds to the mood honestly
0:32, you can see the Unreal Engine Location gizmo in the bottom of the screen
I swear to god this exact thing happened in a promotional material for some big game years ago, I just can't remember or find which one it was
You can pick it up and wear it as a hat
Gotta use G to hide that stuff and only see (G)ame view.
W
Wow.
pog
Nice
Here we go!
I honestly dont know how you progressed this fast as a begginer, but its amazing. I just found your channell and its super inspiring as I just started learning unreal less than a week ago. Making an rpg is one of my dreams so I hope that we both get to do that, I already know you will your game is looking great so far!
Guess I gotta stop watching those udemy courses and just get started on my game idea😅
Thank you for the inspiration!
3:45 It has to do with the collisions on the sword, you might need to disable or tweak them a little bit
press f11 on ur pie pls
I think adding dexterity as a stat (if you already have then I missed it somehow) would be cool and then letting 3 of the 4 classes have 1 of the 3 stats as its primary while the other 2 stats will be secondary (so less effective). This way you could make the monk a special class being the only class that benefits evenly from all 3 stats in some way. I'm not a game dev tho (for now at least) so idk how easy that would be to balance and if it would even be something that would fit the game at all
Really excited to follow along with your progress. I've started working on a similar project as I learn Unity development, and it's super cool to see the progress you've made from video to video!
Dope! I hope your project makes awesome progress as you learn as well 🤝
gotta give it to you though there is so much progress in this 1 video its sick! :D
I just got started with game design as well and youtube's been flooding my feed with these devlogs! I'm all for it! leaving a sub. can't wait to see what you do with the project.
Woah! Wasn't expecting to see BYOND mentioned out in the wild. I also started with it. Might get back to making some project in it... eventually.
4:06 how knockback
Is there a good tutorial on level streaming for transitioning?
@@byucknahthered3914 I recommend anything by Pitchfork Academy!
This looks solid! 🔥🔥🔥
will there be open beta at some point in the future ? And will there be multiplayer or is this a solo rpg
@@aneskatzaev9152 working on a demo right now that will be free to play! It will be on the steam page (which should launch soon) whenever it is ready :D I’ll be sure to announce it here
Dang synty assets look a lot better in unreal than in unity I might have to consider switching engines
Sadly Synty’s unreal support is… not the best. their packs are clearly designed for unity and require some fenageling to get working in unreal.
An option to change how the mouse location looks like would be neat, for those who want a less distracting one. Like a dashed circle that spins around, and a static one etc. Also more colors for the current one
Yeah it’s something I have written down for when I get to the options menu. Thanks!
I didn't expect today to be Chewsday, but here we are.
Really been enjoying following along with the progress sir, getting me to finally work on my passion project. reinvigorated!
Great stuff man! You should consider adding controller support, since that will not only be good for the controller enjoyers but also for people with physical disabilities who use emulators to play games. Keep it up
Babe, wake up. QuestDev posted.
I’ve been following your journey. I love seeing your progress when your new videos come out. I’m quite behind you but I’m working on something as well( I have no coding background) and it’s inspiring watching your dev logs.
If this is from 0 knowledge on game dev to this. YOURE HIM
I wouldn't say 0 but very little lol. I've modded games for years but just had this itch to make a game for a while!
You are progressing at an impressive rate. It almost makes me want to try jumping into my own project. Looking forward to more.
The quality is crazy for a game that has been under development for a few weeks. I'm happy to sacrifice eu4 videos for these.
You could add psuedo fluctuating prices and stock to the market to make the world feel a little more immersive / alive.
