One Thousand Buddhas in Yoro / 養老の千体仏 [Off the Map in Japan, Gifu Prefecture / 岐阜県]
It is said that in 1891 a resident of Yoro dug out the 1,200 stone Buddhas at the site of the Shinmei Shrine after having a revelation that the bell of the former Kashiwao-ji Temple (柏尾廃)was buried there. Shinmei Shrine (神明神社) had been built during the early Edo period where Kashiwao-ji Temple once stood . Legend goes that the temple had been destroyed by the army of Oda Nobunaga in 1562 during a campaign to take control of the Mino domain in southern Gifu.

The “Shell Theater” ( シェルシアター) located at Nishiki no Hama Park (二色の浜公園) was inaugurated in August 1992. The whale has stood there probably longer.     興味を惹かれて場所を探したところ、割目川緑地という施設名らしいですね。グーグルマップでは名称の表記がありませんでしたがストビューで鯨が確認できました

    これぐらい沢山あるのなら、信号機のオークションをどしどしやるべきだと思う。売上は国庫金の足しにすればいい。交通違反の反則金に依存する必要もないと思う。
