E8 - 2nd Failed Attempt to Reach Mount Charleston | 40-Mile E-Bike Ride, Hard Fall & Overheating
In Episode 8, I decided to push my limits and see how close I could get to Mount Charleston on my Bigniu BG-X e-bike-despite being short on time. Google Maps led me through some unexpected bike routes, taking me deep into the La Madre Mountains Wilderness and Harris Springs Recreational Area. The journey was intense, with steep inclines and declines, and I climbed from 2400 ft to 4400 ft in elevation.
The 100+ degree heat caused my Insta360 X4 camera to overheat, cutting out some footage, and to top it all off, I took a pretty hard fall on one of the steep inclines, breaking my left side mirror and taking a spill. All in all, it was a challenging 40-mile ride, full of unexpected twists and tough terrain. Even though I didn't make it to Mount Charleston, it was one wild adventure.

      The max speed I typically reach on my BG-X with the 48V stock battery setup is around 38-40 mph on average. That’s factoring in the extra weight from all my gear and me being 185 lbs. • @JimmysRide
      @JimmysRide 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, man! Yeah, the speedometer going back to zero when letting off the throttle seems to be common. I haven’t had to change the controller either since the 52V battery works well with the stock setup, and you're right-the 40A can handle it just fine. The extra torque with the 52V setup has been a game changer for longer rides too. That's awesome that you have both the Gen 1 and Gen 2! It’s interesting to hear the Gen 1 feels faster, even by a couple mph. I also heard that the speedometer drops to 0 mph because it’s a geared hub motor, and when you're coasting, the motor isn’t turning due to the freewheeling clutch. Yeah that's a good point I never thought about the gears stopping why it does that , when I first got mine I thought the back rotor was scraping that motor is really loud sometimes it honestly sounds like it's going to fall apart, but when I let off the throttle the noise stops obviously the gear stopped turning , I'll probably try to put the controller in this coming spring, but concerning the motor on this generation they sent me something which I was told not to talk about I don't know if anybody else knows about what they're doing I'm not sure I should say. I haven't installed it yet because my freaking brake rotor bolt is stripped and I have to go get it taken off at a shop probably

      @@JHOFF111 That’s interesting, man! Yeah, that gear stopping explains the speedometer thing, but I totally get how it can be concerning at first. I’d definitely be curious to hear about whatever it is they sent you, but I understand if you can’t talk about it. Sounds like something big though! @@Blitzwing85Div Oh, I didn’t know I told you on Facebook since I haven’t really advertised my videos in the group! But yes, I change the settings by holding the plus and minus buttons at the same time and switching from 48V to 52V after swapping the batteries. When I put the 48V back on, I just switch it back the same way. Super easy!

    I got mine a few weeks ago and im also absolutely loving it!you have a sick setup too definitely looks more like a cruiser motorcycle Ebike. How long did u wait for the saddlebags and can you get those somewhere else?

      Thanks! Glad you're loving yours too! I got my backpack rack kit directly through Bigniu because it comes with all the mounting hardware, which I couldn’t find anywhere else. For now, it looks like they’re the only ones offering something that fits the bike perfectly right out of the box. The saddlebags came with the kit, and it took about 2 weeks to arrive. Let me know if you end up getting one-definitely makes it feel even more like a cruiser!

      @@rclejardeThat’s awesome! I usually keep essentials for emergencies in mine, like tire irons, small roadside tools, and extra tubes in case of a flat. In the other bag, I store my water bottle so I can stop and stay hydrated during the ride. By the way, you should check out this Facebook group for people with our bikes-lots of great tips and shared experiences there! Here’s the link: facebook.com/share/g/uHZG9hRRNq9JjAHt/

      You should definitely check it out! I’ve been having a blast with mine-super fun to ride and it’s got a lot of power. I also just upgraded to a bigger 52V battery for more mileage, and it’s made a big difference. I’ll be posting a ride video with the new battery soon, so stay tuned! If you have any questions about the setup or how it handles, feel free to ask!

      @@JimmysRide awesome, I'll be watching for the video. The only thing I worry about is the cops, here in Nova Scotia the laws are brutal with ebikes. I have a ride1up revv1 and the cops haven't bothered with me yet (been a year and a half riding it) but with something as sick as that I'd be nervous

      @JimmysRide 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@canadiandorkguy Thanks! I totally get your concern. The laws can definitely vary a lot depending on where you are. Here in Las Vegas, I’ve had no issues so far, but I try to stay cautious. When I do see law enforcement, I lock my setting to 1 so I can’t go past 18 mph, and sometimes I’ll even set it to 0 and just pedal past them until I feel safe enough to use the throttle again. The Ride1Up Revv1 is a solid bike, so it's awesome you've been able to ride for a year and a half without any problems! Hopefully, that luck continues-stay safe out there. I’ll keep you posted on how things go with mine!

      @@JimmysRide how can I purchase a 52v? My main concern is range.

    • @JimmysRide
      @JimmysRide 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Blitzwing85Div You can find 52V batteries on platforms like eBay-just make sure it’s compatible with your setup. I got mine from this eBay listing ( www.ebay.com/itm/387046613795 ), and it works great with the BGX bike. Range was a big concern for me too, and upgrading to a 52V has definitely helped me go further on my rides. Check out my latest video to see how I manage longer trips with it!

      That’s awesome! The 1st gen BGX is a solid ride. Glad to hear you’re loving it! I’m loving mine too-especially after riding motorcycles for the past 13 years. It’s been a great transition. Have you made any mods or added any accessories to yours? I’d love to hear about your setup!
