I hope you’re not stopping TH-cam.
This was HUGELY helpful to me, thank you so much for sharing your process and demonstrating the software!
wow... It's the first time I see how to use an app to "create" and "run" a solo play. I've never understood the Chaos system, I hope that this I will!! 🤣 More, more, MORE!!! I want more episodes!!
After eons of searching for the game I want to play, I returned to my basics and they are... Cyberpunk!! I played it GM/PC with my friends and it was... WOW!!! I still have in mind the character I played then, and, she's the one I will play solo. I think to add a corpo and a solo (corpo). Nomad is not my kind of characters I like. If the solo play is going well, I think then to play NCPD and MaxTac. In pure solo character with no sidekicks, a deathly netrunner, like the ones we can see in CP2077 YT vids.
Nice to have met you at GenCon this year. We met in line for the new Dragonlance book.
Wooo! So excited for this. I’ve been wanting to do the same so excited to see what you’ll come up with! Would also love to hear more about your set up process
We need more chapters, choomba! 👊
This was super cool to find! Thank you for the interesting content!
Awesome stuff, thanks for sharing
Derinkuyu is definitely home to a gazillion goblins. I've been collecting interesting landscape and ruins pictures as inspiration and I strongly recommend building a good picture gallery. Also actual historical treasures for loot.
Yes! A picture gallery, Pinterest, photo board, whatever is a great inspiration tool! We'll be talking about real-life treasures for loot soon. I've already written an article over on the website about using holy relics as inspiration for magic items which will be part of it.
Liked discovering this from the feed. Good mini-tutorial on how to understand how Mythic works too, though when I do my own cyber punk will be book keeping more anolog.
Glad it helped! I use analog when I'm doing my own thing or testing things out. The import chat log to journal feature is pretty handy for quick reference during recording.
Love this! More Cyberpunk Red please!
Coming soon!
It often feels like a lot of our Fantasy RPG towns are inspired more by towns & villages of the American West, with a Medieval overlay put on, than by actual European ones. They're often frontier towns, all by themselves in the middle of a rugged wilderness, with only one road leading in or out. Just using Europe as a guide, many towns & villages weren't all that far from each other. You could often walk to the next town, and maybe two towns down the road, in a day. I have a friend who lived in a very old French village, and she and her two toddlers would walk two towns over to go to the grocery store, and she'd be back home in the same day. Granted, she was walking on modern, paved roads, not glorified hunting trails, but it's just a reminder that a lot of these places weren't quite so remote. It might be half a day, or a day to the next village, not a week or a month, like it seems to be in many D&D-esque worlds. Something I'm trying to work into my world building is all the various satellite communities in the area surrounding a town. If there's a town of 2 or 3 thousand people, then I'll have a half dozen or so communities of 1 or 2 hundred people, and then a dozen or so hamlets of 3 or 4 extended families, all within a day or so's walk, often with well beaten paths between them.
Yes! Settlements are spread out around how far someone can travel in a given amount of time. How far could a farmer carry his goods to market, for example. Even in "modern" times, the man who founded the Stuckey's gas station chain would see how far he could drive on a tank of gas and that would be where the next store should be planned! I have a video coming up on wilderness travel that will talk about this a little bit but it's a topic that I plan on covering further down the road.
Dope
Thanks, Choom!
I've been collecting an image gallery for years. Now I'm using them to model cave towns after Derinkuyu in Turkiye; planned cities after Timgad in Algeria; and farming communities after regenerative agriculture projects all over the world. A lot of the food comes from Max Miller's Tasting History series. Treasures are modeled on what came out of historic hoards and archaeological digs. And even atrocious AI landscapes can provide inspiration.
This great! I do the same. Derinkuyu is on my list to cover at some point on the channel. My wife and I love Max Miller! He's one of the inspirations for this channel!
Looking forward to the next Dragonbane solo play video!
You've not seen the last of Rhys of Quack Moors. Although, his Night City counterpart is shaping up to be a lot of fun.
This is so inspiring and brought together some towns that’s existed into a more coherent starting point for design. Thanks
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it.
The part about Italian hill towns definitely started to inspire some new ideas for my own homebrew setting.
Yes! Let me know what you come up with!
Great video n info.
Thanks for watching!
I love this! More DMing the World!
Thanks!
Hey, great video. Helps me see how a solo campaign was run. I got a little confused the first time I ran one.
Glad you enjoyed it and that it was helpful!
I'm glad to see someone else has this philosophy! I actually keep a Pinterest board of photo-spheres from google earth for place inspiration. It's a cost effective way to sort of "stand" there and describe what you're seeing, thought obviously you still have to bring some imagination to the table for the rest of the senses.
Ooh! I love that idea! Check out dmingtheworld.com, where I've been writing longer blog posts about specific topics. I also post daily inspirations from the world over on the Instagram page.
A lot of very cool ideas in this video! I am trying to make my own setting heavily inspired by the post roman 500-700ad period in England.
Holy sh*t, I'm actually doing the same thing right now!
@@TheDJAB That's awesome!
That's great! It's a really good era with some lore to build on yet at the same time lots of open space to build on. Tell us more!
I'm really enjoying this series. The VTT looks really helpful for keeping track of all the stats. One comment though is that your audio seems to cut off at the beginning and end of some phrases. I don't know if this is due to editing or if you are using VOX setting on your mike. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, had the noise gate set to high for that recording, and didn't realize it until afterwards. I worked with what I had. Shouldn't be a problem in the future.
I love all DMing the World videos!
I love all DMing the World videos!😄
The hammer should have gone into Equipped Weapons, so doesnt technically count as Inventory/encumbrance
I love all of DMing the World's videos!
Lucky duck :) Going to start my solo delve into the breach soon, was going to pick the army of one as my heroic ability, but that sole survivor skill does seem useful.
It really depends on what kind of character you end up with. Rhys is not really combat oriented but has high WP so Sole Survivor helps with sticky situations. But, if you were to end up with a Fighter, Hunter, or Knight I think Army of One would make a lot more sense.
Awesome stuff. I'm looking forward to diving into this and Foundry later this year.
Hope you enjoy it! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your entertaining videos :) i am about to begin my own solo campaign and it's delightful to see the rules in play
That's great! It's such a fun rules set. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! We'll keep with Dragonbane for a bit, but I have plans to branch out to other systems and use solo rules to play those as well. If there's any systems or adventures you'd like to see let me know!
I know I have watched these. I’m not complaining because I will watch it again.
Was this series on another channel? I thought I had seen this before. As I am cracking out on Dragonbane lately. :)
Nope! New channel. New series! Thanks for checking it out!
Nice to see Dragonbane’s solo rules in use. Thanks!
Glad you liked it! We'll be following this series up with the first chapter in the published solo campaign included with the rules as well. If you have any suggestions for other systems or campaigns let me know!
This looks fun. Thanks.
Very nice this your video.
Do you have the link to the foundry software?
Yep! I added the link to the description.
