While walking some property, we came across a very abandoned camp. I found there were many tools and useful items left behind. This is what we call a catfish mentality, scavenging. #catfishmentality #scavenging #survival #usedul #bushcraft www.lostways-survival.com

This is very useful if you have chickens that like to fly out of their pen. The gentleman I was helping did not want to put a top on his pen. Cooking in Dutch oven while working on green house
Great job, but pint jars of meat are timed for 75 minutes and 90 minutes for quarts. Keep up the good work on leftovers!
why are you cooking leftovers? Why not just boil the jars for 10 min to seal it? Won’t it be overcooked?
I love cànning up my leftovers too. But its only 75 minutes for pints. Yours will be just Extra good. Keep on ccanning i love your chann3l.
Good video! It’s something’s I like in your kit that I have to put in mine
@@tyshawnspruill5629 thank you
Good video, Paul! My only recommendation is to label or color code the tins, that way they are easily identified as to what is inside. This is especially helpful if you have one of these in every vehicle or share them amongst other family members. Example would be red for first aid. That way you always know which Tin you need and if you need it quickly.
@mlaw87 thanks that what i was thinking when i did them maybe painters tape writen on
@@lostwayssurvival colored electrical tape works well also to wrap around the can.
Good Video! Nice little kit.
thank you
Grace and Peace , I'm new to canning . Can I wash , season and pack my raw meat in my mason jars.... Pressure cooking it will thoroughly cook my meat ?
@bonniebowman738 i always sear mind but i have done raw, packed and cooked. That way before, just have to check your cook times
❤
Where’s your vinegar on paper towels to wipe jars
@susan3733 vinegar is not needed my mother did it for years without vinegar just make sure rim is clean
Hey Hello 👋, that's Not Catfish Survival......... That's a damn Tweaker Camp, you keep touching that chit with your bare hands and you are going to look similar to this Tweaker Dog I saw..... The damn chihuahua had it's head covered in Cysts 🙄🤔🤔
@@kensterling5217 lol nice
@lostwayssurvival it's very common for Sheriff Deputies to come across these Camps Squatting by Tweakers and Heroine Addicts on Private Property, be careful 🧐
@kensterling5217 yes sir this canp was ran off i fou d out a year before we found on this land
You have the exact set that I do - right down to the jar tongs!
yes sir it a good set
That's a sweet knife bro
@@JoeKennerly-p3u thank you its the one i carry here at firehouse
no because this is actually super useful
@@finnintrouble thank you
curious, why are we cooking for 90 minutes if it is already cooked before canning ?? help..
@blue-flamephoenixrising2398 that is the required time to perssure can anything with meat. This makes it sealed and shelf stable without refrigeration
Hey Paul! Great tip….if you like to be clean and germ free…if you’re into that sorta thing. That soap, what’s it smell like? I’ve smelled left wing soap, it wreaks of patchouli lol
@@bombproofbushcraft it is very strong and takes stink off me i love it
Sorry, this is the worst idea of the day ... Nobody likes using the soap when it gets that small, I literally throw them away
@robbyrob25x understand and everyone has their opinion. For us this works better then have the whole bar in a bag or container that is wet. This way you only pull out the amount you need and the rest stays dry.
Hey Paul! that's not a pig pen that's a poke....thats how you get a pig in a poke. I never had pigs, but my cousin did. They are like escape artists. They dig under fences, and they also bulldoze fences. A lot of trouble. But dang they are delicious!
@@bombproofbushcraft pig in poke did not know that
Nice video, just wanted to thank you for all the learning you put on us at The Gather Thing. My uncle, son and myself learned a lot and I cannot wait to get the cold handle skillet out over the fire.. If that little one decides it cannot fit in your haversack, just let me know. LOL
@sslack awesome thank you sir. and that little cooked eggs this morning. fits just fine lol
That was some solid corn to start with! How did it taste?
@heatherswartz5830 it taste almost like honey
It's OK to leave air bubbles in the jars?
That’s what I was wondering.
Awesome bud, good info share. We'd always ran net over chicken run because of hawks. Could add into it, keeping the clip tips of feathers for fishing lures, lol😁,ECT.
Great tip!
Did you debubble?
Does it need to be pressure cooked for 90 minutes even if it’s already cooked?
yes
Unsafe practice. Do not follow.
Thank you!
Thank you for the training class!!!
Are you starting with cold 🍲 in the jars. I have a really good beef stew (big pot) want to can some up but don't know if it needs to be hot. Also even though the stew is fully cooked does it need to be canned at for 75 for pints or 90 for qts? Can't find much on pre cooked soups or stewsthank you for your time.
yes it is cold. sorry had been off here a while
There's no need to sanitize the jars. They're going to be autoclaved!!
That’s a crazy steam valve you got there. Like a cartoon!
Does this make meat/beans mushy?
no it does not taste fresh all time
Love the budget stuff. I spend a lot of time with Colbert in the swamps of GA and he DIYs just about everything he can. It is much simpler thank going to the grocery store and buying crap with snazzy packaging. Thanks for sharing. Subscribed, will watch other vids when time affords!
thank you so much
Hey! I finally found ya. Wanted to say it was great meeting you at the pathfinder gathering.
Why add salt?
Thank you so much, especially for showing how much water to put into the pressure canner.
I just stumbled on your channel. I like canning too. That's a real nice Valentine's present. That's love.
thank you we ate doing more soon
they should last at least 2 years, but I would never push the middle down on your own because I want to see if it worked out, if you dont you won't know.. especially when its thicker contents which I prefer to add more liquid since I have had explosions from otherwise, and boy what a mess to clean up... also I do like to use vinegar on rims and in the water, in my experience its really needed to sterilize jars for pressure canning.. as long as they are clean it is ok.. water bath they need to be though... I suppose you can but its just more work to an already long process.. I love canning
Looks good! I just started canning last month, and am loving it!
A good cleaning is all they need and warmed to temp of food. Jars do not need to be sanitized using a pressure canner.
I think 75 min would be fine for pints. Good job using up leftovers. I love to do that.
Bread for the dog?

LOOKING REAL NICE PAUL! (Watch out buckin billy ray!)
we've got a mini survivalist on our hands! 🙏 Thank you for sharing your experience

Sassafras is awesome. It’s my favorite to show to kids in the sandhills since you can find it nearly anywhere that’s been cleared in the last couple few decades. and showing them how to ID by the 3 leaf shapes. They get a kick out of that, especially the “ghost”. (the 3-lobed leaves.)
(other than showing them how to find and utilize lighter knots of course!)
You carrying the pathfinder water bottle too?
yes sir me and that bottle been thru alot lol
of course
