How we bid a job & Grinding a Sweet Gum!!
Fresh cut Sweet Gum 70 inches across. This video shows how we bid our stumps. You can't see what's under the ground (aka the roots) but we allow for some. This one had some pretty good roots.

Splitting a Big Round on the Wolfe Ridge
มุมมอง 32919 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Splitting a big oak round on the Wolfe Ridge. We saw the blue in the wood and found some old barb wire fence in it. This had been in the tree for years as the tree had completely grown over it. Thanks for watching!
Rocks, Stumps and Dirt!
มุมมอง 322วันที่ผ่านมา
On this job, there were 2 20 inch pine stumps and an 80 inch maple. All stumps had been cut down low to the ground, which helps. If you listen to the video, there were rocks that someone had landscaped around the trees at some point in time. The homeowners now, were not the ones that had done that. We got it done and all cleaned up and they were very happy! Thanks for watching!!
Grinding Stumps & Eating Dirt!!

Grinding a stump when it's so dry and the customer has tried to burn it out. You just get covered in grime. This was an Oak stump that measured 48 inches across. There was a part of a stump that the customer asked us on the last stump her burnt and melted a little of his siding. Whoopsie!! Almost done with the job and a neighbor came over and asked if we had time to grind his 80 inch maple stum...

Where’s the dyna brand bar lol I know it’s the same as Oregon.
😊 I've stayed with what came on when we bought it. This sure has been a good machine. Thanks for watching.
good stuff.
@@panchucko Thank you
Good information on your process in bidding.
That broke off so clean, almost looks like it was sawed first. Another minute of my life I won't get back.
@@deerslayer6419 actually just 25 seconds
👌
Good video Ted. That 252 seems to be an industry standard for that size grinder. I’ve seen some folks question its effectiveness for larger stumps. This video certainly shows it can handle them.
I stand corrected Ted! I just realized your machine was a 362. I guess maybe the 252 would struggle with a stump that big.
@oldguyfirewood Thanks, I did some pretty hefty stumps with a 252. But the 362 is working real good.
Good video. Do you charge different rates for different species of wood? Does grinding a hardwood take a lot more time, fuel, teeth dulling and wear and tear than grinding a softwood?
@@BigWoodMountain Use the same rate on every stump. Maple is my least favorite. I'd take 10 oaks to 1 maple.
@@MillersStumpsandFirewood712I agree maple seems the most difficult especially with all the roots spreaded out
Why type of wood is that?
@@felicianoleal4358 Ash
Hey Ted , nice job . I have a question . Do you like that Bauer blower . The reason I’m asking is they have them on sale with a 5amh battery and charger for 100 bucks .
@inthebackyardwithdel438 I've got a Husqvarna and a Milwaukee and the only reason I have them is I already had extra batteries.
@@MillersStumpsandFirewood712 oh ok . Thanks
I like the grind and go stumps. Nice work. Cleaning up after those big stumps is a lot of extra work
@@WilleysFirewood yes it is.Thanks for watching.
Hello Tedd, nice work👍🇺🇸
@@outdoorswithlarryrobin Thank you.
I'm guessing that's your 562xp? They are a great saw!
@oldguyfirewood I'm gonna be honest Dick, I'm not sure. It might be my 572xp.
Should give it a tickle on the underside first so you’re not pinching your bar and chain.
I’d much rather grind it vs. trying to split it!
@@oldguyfirewood Same here
Hungry booger!👍🏻👍🏻
Nice work on that big round! There not too fun but ya sure get a lot of splits! Thanks for the mention Ted👊🏻
Thank you Todd for everything you do for the woodhound community.
Good job Ted. Those big rounds are a ton of work. It they sure do make a lot of firewood.
Yes it does. Thanks for watching.
Nice Work 😊😊
Thanks for the visit
Good Morning Tedd👏🏻 you wrestle the wood with the best of them😂👍🇺🇸
@outdoorswithlarryrobin Thanks and are you ready for Ohio?
Morning Ted , great video . That was a big round and it make a lot of splits . 👍🏻🇺🇸🪵
Yes Sir, Thanks for watching Del, cant hardly wait for Bunyon..
Hey Ted so much wood in that big round! Ready for cooler weather!
Same here, ready for the white stuff.
Great video Ted. As you know I have a Wolfe Ridge 28C, and an Eastonmade 22-28 with the box wedge. They Wolfe Ridge are great splitters and will split anything you throw at them... BUT, I am spoiled by the Eastonmade box wedge with pullback arm. It eliminates all that struggling to pull back the large pieces when you are dealing with the big rounds like that. When I was a young guy like you it didn't matter, but as an old guy, I can't handle the physical part anymore. haha. The Eastonmade takes all the work out of it for me.
@oldguyfirewood I agree, that pull back arm and the box wedge would be awesome and I might have to go with that someday. Looking forward to Bunyon and seeing everyone. Thanks for watching Dick.
Great job , it would have been nice if the home owners would have mentioned the rocks . I know they are hard on those yellow jacket teeth . 👍🏻🇺🇸
@inthebackyardwithdel438 I think the rocks were from previous owner. Thanks for watching Del.
Man those rocks sounded like missiles lol
They were missiles 😊
Hello Tedd, Dusty stumps, it’s a chewing machine👏🏻👍🇺🇸
impressive work, the results are super clean! ❤
You guys are killing it Ted 🫡
One more big job left, Thanks for watching.
Super cool! That thing eats! What was real time on the oak stump, start to finish?
@@KNLFirewood around 45 minutes
Glad the customer decided to put the fire out that close to their house . Awesome job on both stumps . 👍🏻🇺🇸
Amazing job as usual Ted!
@@darwindropmazda Thank you
I wanted to see you grind it
Very nice
Nice
You're a master with that stump grinder Ted. I sure wish I had one to add to my landscape and firewood business. If you were buying a machine of that weight and class today, is that the same machine you would purchase?
@oldguyfirewood Thanks for watching Dick, mine is a 2019 model, they are roughly 10 grand more today, I would really like a 50hp with 4x4,push blade and wireless remote, but your talking big bucks there.
@@MillersStumpsandFirewood712 thanks for the reply Ted. If you’re at Bunyan this year I’d like to talk with you about stump grinders…
@oldguyfirewood Yes we will be there, Thursday afternoon at Fairfield.
*The way you handle the stumps is AMAZING.* 👏👏👏
@h-dinosaur-machine Well Thank you
Hello Tedd, It’s a beast👍🇺🇸
It does good for what we do. Thanks for watching.
Do you have a dyna?
@@adirondackwoodsman yes sc 14 bought in 2010

Nothing like the dust eating you up
Heck, yeah that’ll get it done in a hurry
Hey. Ted And Sherri. Really nice job cleaning up all the grass and brush. Then tackling the stumps. Looks great. Catch you later.
How to make that thing to pick up the wood
Very nice work , place looked great . Have a good week . 👍🏻🇺🇸
@inthebackyardwithdel438 Thanks Del
Nice work Tedd👍🇺🇸
@@outdoorswithlarryrobin Thank you
Machine looks strong.
Good work!
@@darwindropmazda Thanks
Definitely likes the 12ish inch wood.
That is one of 2 500 series saws. Made with a analog carb early and then a computer controlled carb later years.
perfect music
I like how you are always thinking of new things.

It's not easy in the heat. Take care on those fire calls.
@@OpenAirAdventure Sure will, thanks for watching.
Those are some nice rounds , going to make some nice fire or bundle wood . 👍🏻🇺🇸
