The church is way too boomy, but these guys make it work. All the more testament to their skill. Although I would definitely like to hear this in a drier room.

this piece is kind of interesting. first movement: a strong upward figure of notes but with a sad timbre, strong but sad sort of how Beethoven must of felt- outwardly strong but sad. second movement: a slow lullaby almost as if the music is winding down and going to sleep. third movement: a dream, its somewhat similar to the first movement but instead of sad it's more heroic, like Robin Hood and his merrymen. idk why this piece isn't more famous

So sensitive, empathetic and beautifully crafted, so finely expressed, an offering of this sublime music deserves more than comments; compliments of praise should pour in, as they surely would do, if more people took an interest in, or were exposed to, the marvels of Mendelssohn, especially his chamber music. How good to see that these are German based musicians.

J'adore ce quintette n° 2 de Mendelssohn, qui est un bel hymne à la vie, plein de fougue et d'entrain, et cet Amici Ensemble de Francfort nous en donne ici une très belle prestation.
