FYI, Tatsunuko were not the original rights holders of producers of SDF Macross and the Macross franchise, that would-be Big West. Tatsunuko was brought on to help finance the orignal SDF Macross but Big West was the original producers of the series and still holds the rights to the entire Macross franchise. What Tatsunuko did produce and own the rights to is Southern Cross and Mospeada and Harnnoy Gold owns undisputed rights to those two series because of it. Harmony Gold's claim of rights to all things Macross, or at least SDF Macross, extends from their deal with Tatsunuko for the rights to SDF Macross. HG basically claimed that their deal with Tats gave them extensive rights to all things Macross outside of Japan. But Big West said that Tatsunuko didn't own those rights and so couldn't have sold them to HG.

I rather they just remake the original series exactly. Newer art. I am ok with original dialogue and music.

Macross Frontier was far better than I anticipated. The follow up one shot movies and the music were astounding. Being able to watch one in the theater was equally enjoyable

You covered Macross and Robotech well. But you left out the reason for converting 3 independent & unrelated animes into Robotech. Macross & all 3 of the animes were too short to syndicate for the US market. For example, old school Trekkies are grateful that Star Trek TOS got a 3rd year. It gave them enough episodes to go into syndication. So Karl decided to combine 3 unrelated animes in order to have enough episodes to offer them for syndication. He added Protoculture as an overarching plot thread to tie all 3 stories together. Heavy Metal, the movie, used the Loch'nar as a similar unifying plot device.

I love both Macross and robotech

So I notice after Disney put Macross content in all other markets months ago we still dont have it in the US!!! Would be nice if Disney they just came out and explained to our faces instead of the silence on the issue.

As far as casting, I would like to see unknown actors to play certain characters, just like George Lucas did for Star Wars and Indiana Jones films.

Hmmmm. As an older gent who grew up on this show, I would've "cast" some different people in the models. I never gave much thought to casting some characters, but for the Macross forces (although they're all probably too old now, but at some point in time....) I think that I'd have cast: - Dolph Lundgren as Roy Folker - Vanessa Williams as Claudia. - Sam Elliot as Captain Gloval - Lindsay Lohan as Lisa Hayes As for the Zentradei forces...I'd have just cast mostly WWF, WCW, WWE, etc wrestlers for the general rank & file Zentradei. But for particular roles, I think that I'd have cast: - Paul Donald Wright (The Big Show) or Mark "Conan" Stevens as Supreme Commander Dolza - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Commander Breetai - Clint Howard or Armin Shimerman as Minister Exedore - Lucy Lawless as Commander Azonia - Johnny Depp as Lord Kyron - Milla Jovovich as Miriya Parina - Oliver Platt as Bron - Bruce Campbell as Rico - Ashton Kutcher as Khonda

Yeah, I already know all of this. Harmony is evil and it will always be macross to me. I will give Robotech a mention because it introduce us to the mecha franchise but it remains to be Macross.

Modifying for " the modern audience" doesn't sound very promising

I have all three on DVD-video, great story line and music and have the one about the colony about the AI singer. this might be an off shoot comment about the character from the second story about Sterlin. I look at the art and I feel the female security guard could of be the original Sterlin and the blonde the security guard because of the look.
