The Bass are HUNGRY on the Des Plaines River! (August 2024)
It's been a while since my last outing to the Des Plaines River so I figured I would pay it a visit and wade to a spot that I have not had an opportunity to fish yet this year due to the water level simply being too high from all the rainfall this year. The bass (both largemouth and smallmouth) were more active than I thought they would be. I spent most of my time throwing around a Ned rig and a top water. Had a few pop off but was able to land most of them. I even had a chance to explore a new stretch of river too. Hoping to have more outings like this the remainder of 2024!

Finally Some Topwater Bass Action! (Summer Pond Hopping)
มุมมอง 79314 วันที่ผ่านมา
While I originally planned on making a video on bass fishing by my old community college, the bite was a bit slower than anticipated so I decided to make this a pond hopping video by combing 2 different outings into 1 video. Although I will be honest, I really didn't catch anything too exciting, I did have a blast in the making of this video as I LOVE fising topwaters. I explain how to fish the...
Fishing with Leeches for Anything that Bites at Beck Lake!
มุมมอง 67421 วันที่ผ่านมา
I made 2 trips to Beck Lake fishing with only live leeches for anything that bites. I had one rod rigged up with a Carolina rig and the other with a bobber suspending the bait about 3 feet or so below the surface. I explain how to rig live leeches and offer a few other tips as well. As for fish caught, the bluegills seemed to really like them along with a couple of largemouth bass and a surpris...
2 Days, 7 Species of Fish on the Des Plaines River (July 2024)
มุมมอง 2.1Kหลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I made 2 separate trips to the Des Plaines River with the intent to catch as many different types of species of fish as possible. While I ended up moving around quite a bit, I was able to successfully catch 7 different types of fish on different baits while wading around on the river. Day 1 was a bit slow as a rain storm had moved in and muddied up the water. Day 2 was much more ...
Multispecies Fishing a Pond Home to Some BIG Bass!
มุมมอง 817หลายเดือนก่อน
I decided to revisit a pond that in the past several years yielded a PB largemouth bass for me. While I did not (at least I don't believe) the biggest bass in this video was a PB for me, I did get into a few decent sized largemouth bass followed by a few others species as well. I switched up lures throught the trip ranging from a Texas-Rigged Worm to a little spoon and even a 2" twister tail.
Catching Carp After Carp on Canned Corn!
มุมมอง 2.9K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
I decided to visit the Buffalo Creek Forest Preserve (where I haven't fished in over a year) to do some multispecies fishing. Upon arriving and seeing how flooded it was after a night of storms, I thought I was in for a very tough bite. After having no luck on lures or live bait, I decided to do some carp fishing with corn which seemed to be the ticket to shaking off a skunk. Not only did I man...
Small River Fishing for a Gamefish Trifecta!
มุมมอง 1K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I made of couple of outings to the Des Plaines River, specifically targeting smallmouth bass. However, I ended up getting into some pike and largemouth on the first outing and the smallmouths on the second. I used a variety of lures as I kept getting snagged and broken off. While that was quite frustrating, I was very pleased in the end to have caught numerous game fish while wad...
The Des Plaines River has Been FLOODED, but the Fish are Still Biting!
มุมมอง 1.7K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
This video actually consists of 2 separate outings I recently made on the Des Plaines River using both live and artificial baits for a variety of different species ranging from smallmouth bass, rock bass, bullheads, and invasive gobies. I lost a couple of fish that would have really completed these outings but sometimes that just the way fishing goes.
Memorial Day Weekend Fishing For Bullhead, Crappie, and Bass

For this outing, I headed over to a local 50 acre lake near my home for some multispecies fishing during the holiday weekend. I ended up finding a hot spot of bullhead which I kept fishing until nightfall. Oh, and I also got cau...
Pond Hopping for Spawning Crappies and Other Species

Over the span of 2 weekends, I made a couple of trips to some local ponds in my neighborhood in search of spawing crappies. Why target crappies now? In the spring crappies will move very shallow to spawn and are very aggressive and will attack almost any small lure you put in front of them making any outing from this time of year a ton of fun! I used an array of small jigs and spinners in about...
A Weekend of Multispecies Fishing on the Des Plaines River (Pike, Smallmouth, Rock Bass and More!)
มุมมอง 1.7K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
I spent this past weekend fishing a stretch of the DPR near my home using only lures. Although I had a series of misfortunes while I was there, I was able to catch a nice variety of fish, including a big bullhead on a lure, taking me by surprise. I also got to enjoy the scenery and watching wildlife along the river bank as well.
The Bass are Biting at Beck Lake! (Spring 2024)
มุมมอง 4713 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I made a couple of recent trips to Beck Lake targeting gamefish. It seems the bass are really on the bite now as I managed to get into quite a few between both trips on a small spoon and a Keitech 4" swimbait. I've only fished here a few times before so I wasn't too sure how well I would do but based on my catches, I defintely plan on coming back here again!
Fishing by my Old Community College (New PB Largemouth Bass Thus Far for 2024!)
มุมมอง 1.6K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
I used to fish in between classes when I went to my local community college at a resevoir on the other side of the street. However, over time the place started to get fished out and so I stopped going there. I decided to give it another try after not coming here for several years. The bite wasn't super good but I did manage to catch a few LMB including a new PB so far for this year.
Pond Hopping for Largemouth Bass, Crappie, and Bluegill (Spring 2024)
มุมมอง 4334 หลายเดือนก่อน
I made 2 recent outings to a couple of local ponds/small lakes in my area, taking advantage over the nice weather we've been having. I primarily targeted shallow water using small lures and live bait. Even though most of the fish were on the smaller side, I still had a lot of fun getting into a variety of fish ranging from bass to bluegill to crappie.
Early Spring Fishing on the Des Plaines River (March 2024)

I made a couple of trips recently this past weekend to the Des Plaines River for some multi species action. The bite was a bit slower than anticipated, but fishing close to the river bank in slack water (which is ideal during the spring when the shallows warm up quickly and the main river is typical high) produced some fish, including a nice healthy smallmouth!
