This song became a running gag for a whole ass road trip. Misheard a lyric as “Sleepy monkey, he shit on my floor.” Then the chorus became “Sleepy monkey, he shit on my floor, sleepy monkey don’t come back here no more, don’t you shit on my floor, no shitty monkey, don’t go knock on my door” and like 20 variations of that. Livened up the slow parts of a 7 hour drive lol. 🙊 💩 😂

Suzzane Vega sings meaningful songs with such tenderness and sympathy I wish she had won a prize for her poetic words in musical form but a bloke from Deluth calling himself Dylan caught the eye of the public because he's gritty, witty and silly to boot.
