BNSF 7031 North, Northbound stack train on the Front Range
On the front range sub, what I believe is the
S-OMATAC international intermodal train is running north to Tacoma Washington with only part of the train loaded while it trails with empties.

BNSF 7146 North, Rare transformer load and ferromex power on the northbound manifest from Denver.

This northbound train had not only ferromex power but also a transformer. It wasn’t clear to me if this was headed to a substation for a replacement or upgrade or if it was headed to Valmont or Fort St Vrain for similar reasons . BNSF 6427 North, Mega coal train, Featuring: 6022 Anniversary unit DPU

BNSF 6427 was leading a large mega empty coal train, one that usually isn’t often seen on the front range much anymore. This is a train that wasn’t expected to be caught. I was heading out by hover when I saw this train holding there. It was mostly a gondola train which was empty waiting to move north after the local finished at Longmont yard. On an obnoxious windy day and with very warm weather, coal empties headed towards Wyoming power through busy Longmont on the Front Range subdivision. Later that day 6157 was heard leading the daily northbound manifest. Completely missed it entering Longmont however we were able to catch it just as they finished switching the set outs. This is a special symbol for this train as it’s received trackage rights from the OCE and the dispatcher lined up this train to Klamath falls. Dubbed short of a custom symbol BNSF H-FRPCEW1-16A climbing the grade to Quartz mountain on the OCE. This train originates from Fairport yard OR and heads to Klamath Falls OR where it heads north from Klamath Falls yard to Centralia WA yard. Audio used for dubbing is my own. 9008 SD70ACe leads a Northbound H-DENLAU. The train usually stops just south of Main Street short of the Wye, however occasionally these trains will stop south of Hover and cut their train from there. This has happened before yet today we get to see a crazy lash up with a wild dpu on this train doing the switching move.

Recently this manifest was headed south to Longmont, but was delayed partly due to a wacky crossing moment at S Sunset st, but mostly because these two old pumpkins were being picked up. These are the two SD70MACs that usually power the local going north of Longmont to Loveland, Fort Collin’s, and swaps with the great western rwy. Happy new year everyone! I haven’t gotten to do a year recap yet, however here is my personal last catch of 2023. Next year 2024 will be a tripod special. That’s right, I’ve been doing handheld for a while so now that we have a tripod, we can work on better clear videos in the future. Hope you all have a great new year!

Hey, there's going to be a Northbound Q-ALTPTL With Two Ferromex units I don't know if it takes the front range sub but if it does this is just a heads up. It passed Colorado Springs around 951AM today

Nah the MACs were just going to Denver for their routine maintenance. They will likely stay on the Switch for a while longer!

Wow, even the brush sub isn't getting a lot of good power anymore even though it's a non-PTC line!
This is the front range sub. Brush subdivision has mostly been PTC integrated for some time. This line here is all dark territory but all the trains here are usually PTC equipped already. Mostly because the other lines connecting here have PTC.

Santa Fe paint with a K5LA is just wrong, but it's cool. LOL! Great catch! Last I heard there's a GP60 that has a K5LA that is believed to be off of an old Metrolink unit.
Thanks! It’s so weird but cool all at once. I’m very fortunate to catch this unit. Haven’t seen a bluebonnet geep on the front range sub since 2010-12ish. Edit: I forgot to mention the unit did get it’s k5la replaced with a k3la so it wasn’t around for much longer. Still nice to see though.
