I'm a Putzer and get a kick out of making things, fixing things, and inventing things.
Pole Barn Lighting - Hyperlite vs LED Strip
In this video I compare Hyperlite Hero Series UFO style high bay LED light fixtures to 8' LED strip lights. These particular LED strips are by SLG Lighting, but the comparison is valid for any spot type high bay fixture verses a strip type fixture.
These lights are installed in my pole shed (which some people refer to as a pole barn). I'm going to be using this as a shop space so lighting is important to me.

Pole Barn Sound System - Complete Installation
มุมมอง 7909 หลายเดือนก่อน
I'm installing a stereo system in my shop. This is a pole barn type building that will eventually become Putzer Central. I've got a lot of work to do before I'm done (water line, sewer line, floor drain, in floor radiant heat, concrete mezzanine, boiler, and a lot more) but I figured I'd get the sound system installed now so I can enjoy it while I'm out working in the shop. It's slowly on its w...
Insulate a Pole Barn in Northern Climates
มุมมอง 34K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I show how I insulated my Pole Shed. Some people refer to this type of building as a Pole Barn. I live in the northern part of the US so this approach will work well in northern climates and cold environments. I use fiberglass insulation and rockwool/mineral wool insulation. CAT Backup Camera - Can it be fixed?
มุมมอง 2.7K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video we disassemble a CAT backup camera to see if it can be fixed. This camera had an intermittent problem where it would work when it was cold outside, but would stop working when things warmed up. This was on a CAT 259D3 Skidsteer, but I’m sue it’s similar for most CAT equipment.
Hang lights on gutters with screens or gutter guards
มุมมอง 4.9Kปีที่แล้ว
This is a short video that shows an easy way to hang lights from gutters that have screens or gutter guards. Gutter screens are great at keeping leaves out, but they can make it tough to install Christmas lights. Hanging Christmas lights on your roof is a great way to brighten up a dark winter.
Why can't I push my Dyson vacuum?
มุมมอง 42K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I moved to a new house that has plush and wonderful carpet. My Dyson Animal vacuum would get stuck on the carpet and I couldn't push it. This ball style vacuum works great, except for this problem. I figure out how to fix it for $0.05 and wanted to pass this trick on to you.
Don't get caught with an empty travel size toothpaste tube

I've always wanted to do this. Why give all your money to Big Toothpaste when you can reuse and refill your travel size toothpaste tubes?
Make Your Own Family Fun

In this video I show how to make your own Aggravation board. This DIY project is fun and doesn't require very many tools.
Pizza Oven Wind Break
มุมมอง 3153 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I make a pizza oven wind break for a friend's upcoming birthday. Propane pizza ovens are susceptible to the wind. It's handy to have something to block the breeze that isn't a sheet of plywood or an old bike box. Using something to block the wind helps keep the heat in and your oozed will cook faster and more evenly.
Hot Wheels Display Using a Bike Tire
มุมมอง 21K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Making a Hot Wheels display using a 20" bike tire. It's birthday gift time. DIY is more enjoyable than shopping. Because nothing says you care like a homemade gift.
love you northern Texas but y'all don't insulate like I do in Montana, I appreciate the insulate pole barn videos but it can be -40's one day and +45 the next R5 isn't cutting it.
Great idea which gutter guard brand is that?
Wouldn't dust blow out through the artificial gap?
Fair question. That part of the vacuum is under suction. So air goes in the artificial gap, not out.
@@mr.putzer Would that gap also affect the wand suction? Thank you for the video.
Yep. It reduces all the suction a bit, but it’s not detrimental to the overall performance.
@@mr.putzer There's another video discussing this issue. th-cam.com/video/or_jNgnWgWE/w-d-xo.html I contacted Dyson customer support and explained the issue. After about 20 minutes of mindless live chatting, they said they will send me the EASY push cleaner head, except that it's out of stock now--lots of people must be having the same issue. They told me to call back when it becomes available and they will send me the part at no cost. Until then, I will try your method. Thank you for the video.
Can get these plans? Great job!
Great video- I'm insulating my 2 stall garage....most of the videos are from Canada which has different building codes/guidelines than we do here in the states. Same with different parts of the country. I live in the upper midwest.....it gets COLD here in winter, and we bake in the summer. SO you really gotta sort through what is best in your area. I talked to one of my buddies who flips houses, and he get me up to date on code- super easy job, just waiting on the electrican to add some outlets and a breaker box. I don't like messing with electrical wiring, I leave that to the experts.
Mine quit during warranty, they replaced it, it quit again just after warranty. Same deal, works better in the winter and when first starting until it moves. I'm going to try an aftermarket camera from ebay for $15. I'll keep you updated.
Would it still be possible to get the plans?
Thanks for the great idea 28 x 40’ 14high right now you gave me some great ideas 👍👍👍
Did you put in a concrete heated or unheated slab? If yes, how did you insulate the perimeter of the slab?
How do you get the blue knob off You didn't show us that part. Ty
It unscrews. Just pinch the cutout sections and twist. It’s a normal right-handed thread.
Ok, so I'm a girl....and very girly and want to do this for my husband, so I don't use power tools lol. I might be able to use his multitool, or jigsaw saw? (that one with the 1 thin blade that comes down?). Do they make wood already painted or treated that I could use so I don't have to stain or paint it? Otherwise maybe I could do a small thing of paint but not sure what kind for wood. I don't like stains, they seem more dangerous.
I wouldn't have used fiberglass in such a cold climate. Fiberglass loses 40% of its R value below 20F, it jumps to a 50% loss below 0F. You should have spent the money for better insulation!
Can I ask where you found the 48" x 39' unfaced rolls of insulation? I'm doing the same thing, thanks! I cant find it anywhere
It was a special order from my local Ace Hardware.
@@mr.putzer Thank you very much, do you mind saying how much they were each?
I paid $111 per roll. Not sure what you’d pay in your area. There are a lot of factors that influence price.
@@mr.putzer Thanks so much, loved the video
I want “dont really measure anything, just do stuff” on a tshirt
Fantastic video. Very helpful. Had a metal pole barn builder who was supposed to install insulation (i have big 8ft unfaced r19 rolls) and bugged out on us leaving supplies behind. The unfinished job is causing a backup with other subs who are also building our house at the same time. So we are tackling installing the insulation and interior girts ourselves so we can keep our projects and builds running along. Your washer idea will work for us too if believe and your repeated “it isnt rocket science “ was super helpful actually….we are super handy and have a good amount of building knowledge but this is a new thing for us to do…i think we can tackle a 32x36 x 10ft wall building with insulation, vapor barrier and girts in 3 days or so ourselves…especially after watching your video….thanks. You made my night
My grandfather made one in 1946, I would love a set of plans to make one for my grandchildern
Good job man love your videos
What kind of range are you getting with your bluetooth adapter? I'm looking to add one to my old receiver.
It’s works just fine in my shop, 30’x50’. But as soon as I head outside the signal dies. It doesn’t like to transmit through the metal.
Mr Putzer, video was awesom and so full of tips. How do I get a copy of the plans. Would make a great gift for our grandkids. Thank you.🙂
Just came across your channel - love it! Killed me with the sunset diversion - I subscribed on the spot. 🙂 I will probably spend the rest of the night binge watching your content. I am starting my shop -build journey myself pretty soon, in a cold northern climate. You comment about the IRC was spot on - except I think my contractors are not happy with my too-many questions. Really like your style and presentation. Thanks for this!
That’s a great idea with the gig! I’m gonna do it!
Great video. Thank you!
You just saved me from destroying one. I appreciate your efforts!!!
Fantastic - realistic video. Thanks! Making one for my grandson from a pic my daughter sent me for monster trucks - you answered a lot of my questions for me! Thanks
I'd also love to have the pattern for this, that's the hardest part to me. Thanks.
So, lesson leaned. Don't buy this vacuum from Costco. Every other Dyson vacuum has a slider feature to adjust for different piles of carpet.
Plans PLEASE
Great video. To the point, no useless "flash and bang" theatrics. I learned more from this than some of the others. Great work.
Mine went out at 200 hours.
thank u
Good solution! Unfortunately the newer model won’t let you feed a zip tie through. Solid piece. Did fasten a spacer based on your solution here and it works! My wife is screaming from the other room how much she loves vacuuming again. 🤪
Mine just went out with 668 hrs called cat $750 for a new one.. what a joke
Great hack. Works great thanks for sharing!!!
Great video. You are a natural on camera and your editing is good. I appreciate the topic. Like you said there are not a lot of relevant examples for those os us Up Nort.
Did you have those plans???? I would love that!
a man of culture i see. Direct wire will always sound better then blue tooth.
704 hrs. Stopped working after i pressure washed it. Warranty?
Thank you…. Off to buy a new one!
am I seeing a vapor barrier on the exterior metal and on the opposite side of the insulation? I saw clear plastic hanging.
You might have seen something weird caused by the camera. I used house wrap on the exterior side of the insulation (all my house wrap is white). Then I used vapor barrier on the inside/warm side of the insulation (all my vapor barrier is clear plastic).
Thanks! I will try this. Dyson should have a variable suction control for how expensive they are.
It’s a shame that we all got suckered into paying hundreds of dollars on a vacuum that won’t clean thick carpet
Thanks very much for sharing your video and technique. Living in an apt., not much room but would also love a template of the Aggravation/Marble/Wahoo game board for 6 players. A bit large, but I found a kitchen counter top remnant...perfectly square 80cm x 80cm. My family and friends love board games too.
Awesome video. You and I need to hang out. Nothing like building projects when its close to zero out...... LOL
Did you use UC-4B wood for your skirt boards or untreated?
I used treated because it’ll be in contact with the ground and concrete.
I wouldn't use bookshelves either. Less thermal bridging is one of the big advantages of post frame so why screw that up. People say they make the building stronger which is true, but interior horizontal girts and walls (drywall, plywood, or metal) is probably 3 or 5x stronger than Agriculture buildings that don't even have the interior girts. For the insulation I like 7.xx ft wide batts, but they can be harder to source. Or much better foam board if you can find a deal.
You should always plan ahead when you travel. I tried filling a tube using a pastry bag and thin tip but it didn't work
Or just go down to the hardware store and buy a foot length of plastic hose of the right diameter for a tight fit?
This worked for me, my older dyson animal 2 stopped working on carpet it used to work on, cleaned everything out and still had the same problem. Never would have guessed too much suction. I threw a zip tie on haphazardly and got the brush to spin again most of the time
The conduit isn't overkill for low voltage. I wish I'd ran more things in conduit in my shop, makes getting a wire somewhere in a few years a whole lot easier.
