Indeed! Actually you can shave off more material to gain more saving, since the inner hull had already fiberglass reinforced, providing huge improvement in rigidity. No oilcanning when dealing with thin hull construction.

You just heat the pipe up to about 80 celcius degree. Maitain this temp about 1 minute long. It should conduct enough heat to heat PU tubing to about 70 degree. Then the tubing should release tension inside and shrink to spiral shape.

Just watch the temperature rising, let it go up to about 70 degree celsius. Then the plastic will soften and take shape of the spiral.

@@chaosdiyworkshop458 Thank you very much ! I tried that, it worked. However, there is a few notes to take ( I am using a PVC tube): 1) Because the surface of the metal piece is not the same shape as the tube you start to get a flattened tube surface at the interface between tube and the hot metal rod. 2) The spiral does not seem to be permenant; i.e. if you try to unroll it and straighten it, it will lose some of its loops. Maybe beccause I am using a PVC tube with a 9mm outer diameter which is slightly thick but it is good to keep in mind. Thank you very much though !!! Helfpul when needed.

@@NamelessEto right. It's one layer of 4oz on top of carbon.

If you ever need more room for it too form to the shape of the part without cutting into the weave and making it weaker you can look into 2x2 twill weaves and satin weaves the more it conforms tho the weaker the ply just a heads up

About the same weight as the carbon/glass cloth I used here. I prefer resin rich application in such DIY project. In massive production, it's maybe 80% of weight of the cloth.
