After my son showed an interest in welding, he wanted a project. Something other than just fixing two pieces of scrap metal together. Ended up with an unused BMX bike on top of a cheap goodwill find. A couple of clips from the races this past weekend - 2/17/24 The Sno-Jacks pulled off a minor miracle considering the lack of snow. We had trouble keeping the "Loose Stool" on the course - but have plans for improvements for next year.
Farmall Tractor with a Honda 500 transverse V-Twin engine

Farmall H with a Honda GL500 engine out of a Silverwing. The motorcycle engine is coupled to the tractor transmission, so every tractor gear has 5 speeds - making 25 forward gears and 5 reverse gears. Driving is simple. You use one hand to steer, one for throttle, one for clutch, and one to shift.

Sections 1-8 in order. Very fun day and perfect weather for it. The sandy ground was pretty loose since it was dry. Really highlighted how much my tight turns suck on loose ground.

Single track in SW Colorado. Very fun trail - as long as you're not afraid of heights, exposure, shelf roads, switchbacks, difficult climbs.... and the occasional hail and thunder.

Yes! 4th to 5th moves all the sliders and is one of the biggest changes in ratios.

Its a GL500 - but yeah, essentially the same. I guess he wanted more power, cause that tractor now has a GL1500 engine in it.

i'm from Ny originally, and saw Poughkeepsie , and was like cool , ill see some of my old stomping grounds . . . . wrong Poughkeepsie. LOL . looks like a lot of fun terrain though , better than NY , that's for sure. hope it was a fun time. love hearing 2T's out there on the trails. ....

I like the way that tank looks compared to the stock tank.
Thanks! I would have liked to keep it all stock - but tanks are tough to find. All the used ones I"ve seen are some combination of beat up, rusty, leaky, and overpriced. I had to modify the mounts on the bike a little to fit the tank, but I'm happy with how it came out.
I would work better with a gas tank full of gas rather than a milk bottle.
Would you? Fun fact - Milk bottles are made from a plastic that will dissolve in gasoline. That's why I'm using a OJ bottle for a fuel tank. Worked well for testing. Once I determined the bike ran, drove, and stopped - I fitted a proper tank: th-cam.com/video/iTp-pFOmqFU/w-d-xo.html

Thanks! I don't think the Ellsworth route had heroes. I know the big sandy hill where I crashed was part of the main route.

Took my XRL to the OHV park in N. Georgia. Surrounded by high cotton KTM's, the XRL got all the attention as it kept up with most bikes.... Too funny...

Pretty sure if I dropped my transmitter - anything I was flying at the time would go ahead and kill itself!
that is the great thing about flying taking grandkids for a ride they will never forget it and it will be never forgot
〝TLR200〟is trial models. High speed running on this bike is for moving between 〝trial sections〟, I'm worried about 〝braking〟at extremely high speeds. When changing to a 〝9T〟drive sprocket for the 〝trial sections〟, only about 〝70㎞〟plus alpha speed. Have fun in the 〝trial field〟.

I have a 1986 honda tlr 200 with a speedometer. Your way off. Unless yours needs tuned.
Every single Honda motorcycle speedometer I've had has been wrong. Usually they're optimistic by about 10%. I was measuring speed with a GPS - which is going to be more accurate. And it's not a question of tuning - its a question of gearing. This is a pseudo-trials bike. Its geared for obstacles. IT would go faster with different sprockets - but that would diminish its off road capability.

I don't think so. There are just some low spots that don't drain, I guess.
