You may end up with two of the planned six ships if you’re lucky and you’ll most likely sell off one of your two Aircraft Carriers before the end of this decade. - what you will get is a flood of refugee boats due to lax National security

So are these new ships actually NAVAL standard units built to the requisite AQAP complicit specifications and operated as RN ships? Or are they really just de facto RFA Bay Class upgrades? Not equivalent to the Albion Class LPDs at all, so will actually represent yet another cut in UK amphibious capability? When what we do really need are two new c28,000te full load displacement LPHs/Assault Carriers able to operate both rotary wing AND F35-Bs, plus realistic life-extension upgrade of the in fact quite lightly used Albions allowing them to remain in service until c2044.

If this channel is going to report on the British Armed Forces, it would be a great idea if it's editor could learn to use the correct title terminology. For example: there is no such title as the British "Royal" Army, as not all regiments within the British Army have the "Royal" prefix. Abuse of the term "Royal", as has been ignorantly shown here, is not only disrespectful, but also demonstrates how little research is actually carried out by the producers, who may be trying to make it look as though they have, but fail!

The choice of engines should be of no suprise as this ship hull is based on an existing Danish Navy Iver Huitfeltd design. That has Four MTU 8000 20V M70 diesel engines, 8.2 MW each in CODAD configuration. Running on one engine at 18 knots cruise speed ,25 knots on two, all four should give a top speed of 30+ knots giving it a range of 9300 nmi at 18 knots. That is a considerable range given Arleigh Burke can only manage half that distance at 20 knots. This gives the ship excellent endurance to remain at sea on station without backup. This ship should offer flexibility for upgrade over the years .

Sorry to say that our spending is too low on defence. We need more of everything very soon, hopefully Labour understands the shit state we are in as war looms large, no longer on the horizon but upon us. We need to sign orders now to get it built ASAP and not delay. Men / women will be another issue needing massive boost in numbers and arms. Take care all M.
