The PIEaters are a FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team from Orlando, Florida. We hope we can help other FIRST teams and help spread the word of FIRST.
FTC Ultimate Goal - Lexan Flicker prototype
The PIEaters have all gone off to college, but as a retired coach, I still wanted to know if a Lexan flicker would work. It's a pretty bad prototype with a lot of work that still needs to be done, but it's a good proof of concept. Would someone please do a decent prototype of this type of shooter?

Autonomous Collision Recovery - Rover Ruckus - FL State Championship
มุมมอง 4465 ปีที่แล้ว
A proud moment for our programmer when we collided with our alliance partner and the programming helped the robot recover and continue on. We are on the bottom left. See if you can tell which team member is our programmer. We knew we would probably collide if the Gold was on the left, so the Gold was on the left. Good use of gyro and range sensor got us back on track. A fun match for us with St...

FTC Relic Recovery Tetrix ProtoBot - Prototype - Easy Build
มุมมอง 6K7 ปีที่แล้ว
We wanted to build a Relic Recovery test bot out of mostly Tetrix pieces. We thought we could learn a lot about the game, use this as a scrimmage bot, and hopefully help spark some ideas for teams that like to build with Tetrix. If you can build a push bot, you can build this Tetrix ProtoBot.
FTC Robotics Help - Testing VuForia - Relic Recovery - Pictogram

Linear slide on some bitches
Can these motors move a person up a slight incline at a slow walking pace?
Excellent demonstration of the code set up. Thank you so much for your video.
Nice.
i am team 14941, this is outdated
Hey Buddy How can i contact you? Can you plsz share the your Official Email?
How does the range.clip() function work? I wanted to know that. Would appreciate it if you can reply ASAP. thanks.
Do you have a Vuforia tutorial? Really need to learn it. Thanks for this video!
Ahh my ears! Please get a pop filter. Great guide tho
Searched the internet to find that this video solved all of my questions within the first minute, thanks!
I remember using one of these in Velocity Vortex It wasn't consistent enough for my taste and broke a few random times during competition due to the nature of bending it in such a way
Very impressive
indeed
Wow this definitely launches far. Is this consistent though, without the spin on the ring?
Hard to say because it was handheld only. I just wanted to see if the Lexan flicker might work. I'm hoping someone might make a legit prototype to test accuracy. I did try to hold it in place and see how accurate it was and it seemed pretty decent. Certainly worth prototyping and testing.
@@FTCTeamPIEaters Definitely, it's a great idea, much lighter than a shooter wheel, and arguably easier to make. We will definitely keep the design in consideration.
Hi nice video. A question about the Core Power Distribution module, is the power "hot"/on to all the 12V, 5V, and 3.3V outputs once the power switch is turned on? Also once the switch is off I assume all of the power to all the outputs is then off. Thanks
This is by far, the WOSRT programming video ever. You are making objects sound like it can only be created to represent physical objects. The presentation was horrible. The presenter was so monotone that it's starting to freak me out. The slides were uninspiring and everything about the tutorial was terrible.
Speak for yourself this video was very helpful. Go be rude elsewhere
it might be the WOSRT, but it definitely isnt the worst lol
Is a blueprint like a library in arduino?
Hi! Very useful tutorial. For 4 motors is it the same process? Do you have to create different opmodes for every function or just use one for everything? Thanks
can anyone recommend a link to buy from the same parts please
Is Chaining Gearing or belting best for the drivetrain?
Hi Cory. I would appreciate it if you could respond as quickly as possible. Basically, I am assuming we don't need @TeleOp before the gamepad for this class. And you didn't state the value for the double data type (decimal) instead you just left it as leftWheelPower is it because it will automatically assume that both speeds are the same for the left and right wheel?
Hey! Great job there. How do you contract the link if it is in a horizontal position/orientation when you don't have the advantage of gravity?
Can FTC code be used on Raspberry Pi 4?
I think it can be used, but I believe that it s not permitted in an actual FTC competition
Incredible!
Great job, guys. We hope to see you at states! Love from Team Bolts of Steel!!!
Epic
How would you do an ease in ease out movement for your robot so that it doesn't start at full power, but goes from 10 to 20 to 30 to 40, etc.? Your videos are super helpful, thanks!
Good question. I'll have to ask our programmer about that one. I know he made it so the robot drives at 70 percent normally, and if the left trigger is pushed it's like 50 percent, and if the right trigger is pushed it's 100 percent. There are some teams that do some math to the joystick power to make the bottom part of the joystick more "useful". I think it's like cubing the value or cube root or something. There's a lot of info out that process if you google search for it.
FTC Team 9779 PIEaters thank you so much!
Brilliant! Our FTC team is working on one for this year. You have inspired us!
Thank you so much! This has been extremely helpful

hi ,please , how do you show the monitoring on other phone ? could I do it in same phone?
In year's past, you could not display the image from the robot controller phone on your driver station phone. And, I think it was against the rules. I read somewhere that they might make it possible and game legal this year. But if they do, I'm not really sure what the details will be.
I get an error that the project file specified already exists
Sorry for the delay getting back. We had the same problem this year. It's something new with Android Studio. Unfortunately, I can't remember what we did to fix that :-/ Did you ever figure it out?
FTC Team 9779 PIEaters yeah I figured it out
@@P-7 How did you fix it?
MannoMation I’m not really sure because it was 2 weeks ago. I think I just had to delete all files related to the FTC app master
@@P-7 What do you mean related to the FTC app master?
What happens if you don't want it to loop and just want it to run once? Is there a way to replace the the "loop" statement with something else?
For teleop, most of what you will do is in the loop section. You just constantly check the status of the controller or sensor and apply power and positions to things based on the controller. You can certainly write methods and then call them from the loop. And you can also use threads, but all of this gets beyond beginner level. Also, for autonomous programming, you extend "linear opmode" instead of "opmode" and that just goes through your program one line at a time until it completes the list.
This has been extremely helpful in training new programmers; many thanks from team 4537 DRSS Enterprise!
Good luck this season!!!
Good job
this video is so boring
Thank you Tanner. That was exactly what we were going for!
very nice 👌
thats not a very nice thing to say. be more gracious my friend.
and more professional :D
You guys were a great teammate in states wish you guys good luck for next year. This is from team 7592 the roarbots. Great promote video by the way.
Thank you so much. We had a great time with your team in the semi-finals. Maybe we can do it again next year.
Will my robot pass the inspection if i don't have any of the phones mentioned in the manual? I don't see the point of using specific smartphone models, especially when most of them is out of production.
You must have one of the phones mentioned in the manual or on the self inspection sheet. They should be the same models in both places, but sometimes they add new ones. They like to make sure the software runs reliably on a phone before they will approve it.
thanks
I had to wait until after the FIRST Florida FIRST Tech Challenge Championship to post this comment so that I would not influence judging. I am so glad I had the opportunity to see this video and this team at the state championship. This video is exactly what FIRST is all about and this team did a phenomenal job meeting all the criteria for the Promote Award, INCLUDING the credits, which is a requirement for this award. Kudos to 9779 PIEaters!
Thank you so much. We had a great time making the video and a great time at the Florida State Championship.
@@FTCTeamPIEaters I wanted to send this to everyone I knew the moment I saw it. Very creative!
Used CV to realign with the walls?
Great idea, but we just used gyro sensor and the range sensor. Also use gyro sensor while strafing to make sure we don't spin.
@@FTCTeamPIEaters Wow, amazing! Great job guys :)
Amazing.
Thank you!
What material are the machine bearings made of?
Wow. That was a really great promote video and definitly one of the best Ive seen in a while!
Thank you!
I'm impressed. Good job
Thank you!
Can servos also connect to the Core Device Interface?
There is a way to use the Core Device Interface to control servos but we have never done it. We just use the Core Servo Controller (or we have also used 2 Servo Controllers when we had more than 6 servos last year.).
Intergrated REV Gyro??
Thank you. Can you please help with driver station update?
Driver station updates should be pretty simple. You use your driver station phone and go to the play store to download the app. Just search for something like "ftc app" or "ftc driver" and it should come up. Whatever version is on the play store will be the matching version for the latest approved SDK appmaster for the robot controller.
We have Tetrix DC motors, and a review expansion hub. How do we hook them up?
Hooking up any motors that don't have the same connector as the REV hub will need adapter cables. Like in the video we had to use the adapter from Anderson Power Pole connectors to the REV connection. I don't know if they make adapters directly from the Tetrix motors to that REV connection, but I know they have adapters to Anderson Power Poles, then you can adapt from Anderson Power Pole to the REV Hub using the included adapter cables. I hope this helps.
