Wow! This was an excellent presentation. Please recommend any basic or intermediate books from a Wesleyan theology and perhaps it's perspectives on "Hell", "the bible", "penal substitutionary atonement", "christian universalism", "end times" etc.

Only one Gospel: The Gospel of Reconciliation. Jesus Christ came into THEIR kingdom to reconcile fallen angels unto Himself. We are the fallen angels (ELOHIM) kept in DNA chains of darkness. If you do not confess being a fallen angel in Lucifer's kingdom, then you are an unbeliever. Unbeliever = those that claim to be made in the image of ELOHIM(gods). REPENT FALLEN ANGELS.

dont go beyond Christ. into doctrines. let God teach, as they have the Spirit. why would you need to teach. knowledge makes proud, you make things worse. avoid doctrine basics from people like apostles said. sorry teacher, you will not get paid. believe that you (harsh judgement) already got your payment, Christ the Lord Who Is Spirit, God.

Hi! I get this question a lot. I'm not in any close way, though as I got to wondering I tried to find any connections through genealogy research, and it looks like there is a connection going back to the mid 1700s or so in the Southeastern US, but nothing close since. The interesting thing (to me at least) is that while we don't have a close family connection, I independently found myself very interested in many topics I later found out Thomas Oden focused on. So maybe there's a genetic thread of why I love Wesleyan, early church, and other related themes!

There is nothing new under the sun. Amillennial eschatology that posits that Revelation was primarily fulfilled in AD70 when Jesus came in judgment upon unfaithful Israel is the truth. Everyone claiming they figured something out no one else has, beware.

Indeed! The Wesleys, I guess, knew that to spread the Gospel it's helpful to connect to the lives of those Jesus loves. And to go where they went on occasion, even if in just music! So much church music over the centuries started out as popular and often barroom, but after the fads change we think of it as religious. The Spirit, I suppose is always in the business of redeeming and transforming this world in every aspect of burgeoning beauty.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 📜 Wesley's theology must be understood in historical context. 01:00 🌍 Puritan theology was contextual and aimed at reforming the Church of England. 03:00 🚩 The Puritan movement declined due to its authoritarian rule and failure to bring broad social change. 09:23 🗳️ Political power shouldn't be the means to impose religious transformation. 13:12 🔥 Important materials about Wesley's childhood were destroyed in a fire, impacting our understanding of his early influences. 16:00 👴 John Wesley's maternal grandfather, Samuel Annesley, was a significant Puritan preacher. 19:11 📚 Samuel Wesley, John Wesley's father, was a zealous pastor but faced financial troubles. 22:51 💡 Susannah Wesley, John Wesley's mother, had a strong intellectual influence and a challenging life. 24:02 📚 Wesley's talents were underutilized in his backwater parish, influenced by his mother Susanna's belief in his potential. 25:38 💪 Susanna's influence shaped John Wesley's respect for and inclusion of women in ministry. 26:34 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Methodism appealed to the lower middle classes in England, encouraging societal transformation and avoiding revolution. 27:58 🚫 Methodism encouraged thrift, patience, and restrained indulgence, contributing to social stability. 29:22 🌐 After the American Revolution and John Wesley's death, the American branch of Methodism became independent and influential. 31:11 🇮🇪 Methodism played a mediating role between Catholic and Protestant communities in Ireland, offering an alternative voice. 32:09 🌍 Methodism's focus on progress and holiness can be compared to the impact of Pentecostalism in Latin America and other parts of the world. Probably the biggest misunderstanding about the Trinity Doctrine is that it was established at the Council of Nicaea in 325. However there is nothing about a trinity there. One must dedicate a lot of time and effort to uncover the actual events and motives behind it. In a nut shell the Nicene Greed 325 came about by the Alexandrians promoting their theory of Theosis. Theosis means 'becoming God" and is best explained by Athanasius' famous line, "God came down to the earth and became a man so the men could go to heaven and become God." Thus Jesus had to be a god! This also became the logic behind the "Saints" who are venerated and prayed to for divine guidance and protection. They went to heaven and became like gods. The doctrine was derived from 2 Peter 1:4 "Through these he has given us his precious and wonderful promises, so that through them you may PARTICIPATE IN THE DIVINE NATURE, seeing that you have escaped the corruption that is in the world caused by evil desires.' Emperor Constantine needed the church to be in unity because it was their hopes that through Christianity the roman empire, with its vast array of languages and religions could be unified. Thus we ended up with a creed that gave both sides what they wanted. It starts out with there is only one God the Father, ... but then, the Son is God too ... "very God". Another aspect of the creed that most people have been misinformed about is that it was totally overturned within three years and Jesus remained being only the Son of God until 380 AD when the emperors made a form of Christianity the official state religion and made the trinity it's official doctrine. (See the Edict of Thessalonica). The following year in 381 it was made the official doctrine by the church. It would take another 70 years of bitter debate to offer some kind of explanation for it that didn't sound too much like other ideas that had already been declared heresies.

Pneumatology doesn't exist. The churchfathers made a blunder! They didn't get that the HOLY SPIRIT = THE FATHER (who is a spirit) ("God is a spirit" Jn. 4:23,24). No "Lord who gives life" exists! Since the Father is a spirit, Jesus calls Him either "Holy Father" or "Holy Spirit", they are just two EQUIVALENT names for the SAME Person! 1. The blasphemy against the Holy Spirit means blasphemy against the Father, no one was forgotten, 2. The Holy Spirit SPEAKS when Jesus was baptized 3. The Father makes the miracle of the Mary's pregnancy 4. The Father leads Jesus into the desert 5. Jesus CORRECTLY reiterates dozens of times that "God is only made by A. the Father and B. the Son" e.g. "I am not ALONE because the Father is with me". The HOLY SPIRIT = THE FATHER. He is with Jesus. Of course He is mentioned only ONCE by Jesus as "the Father", no one was forgotten.

I was unaware that persons who want to work for Fuller are asked if they support women in ministry ... and must if they want to do so. Has Fuller always maintained this as an employment criterion or is this a recent form of all inclusiveness? This is so refreshing to find out, though not particularly surprising.
