First Citizens National Poetry Slam
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 8 ม.ค. 2018
What we now know as the First Citizens National Poetry Slam which happens at the apex of performance venues in the Caribbean, started off as a humble event on the third floor of The University of the Southern Caribbean's New Building.
In 2012 Jean Claude Cournand, founder and director of the 2 Cents Movement started a small competition for performance poets, with a prize of $1000.00 which was collected from entrance fees at the door.
With the partnership of the Bocas Lit Fest and the unwavering support of First Citizens and the continued development of Spoken Word Poets in Trinidad and Tobago, the competition has now flourished into one of the biggest poetry events in the region with a grand prize of $50,000 TTD.
Winners
2012 - Angelo Hart ($1000.00)
2013 - Crystal Skeete ($3000.00)
2014 - Idrees Saleem ($10,000)
2015 - Akile Wallace ($20,000)
2016 - Seth Sylvester ($20,000)
2017 - Camryn Bruno ($50,000)
2018 - Deneka Thomas ($50,000)
