A simple front headlock escape (the sit-out/peek-out)
This is my favorite response to the front headlock, since it's easy, looks cool, and it often leads me to the back of my opponent. Get quick and smooth with it, and people will be pancaking into the mat as you move. Super satisfying.

A front headlock dilemma (BJJ)
มุมมอง 5หลายเดือนก่อน
The two primary options from a front headlock on the ground are (a) to choke, or (b) to go behind the opponent. Sort of like choking or armlocking from mount, you can really only defend one or the other. Going between the two is to a way to get ahead of the opponent and be certain that you accomplish at least one of your goals.
Simple Takedown/Mat Return from the Bodylock
มุมมอง 28หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a simple, proven way of getting someone (back) onto the mat when you find yourself with your arms wrapped around their waist. It happens commonly when someone stands up from the turtle position or you manage to duck under one of their arms somehow. It's common in wrestling and MMA as well. Apologies for the audio issues. The mic got caught up in our rash guards at certain points. The Fr...
Simple Punch to Takedown Combo (Jab to double-leg)
มุมมอง 25หลายเดือนก่อน
My gym is not an MMA gym, and I'm not an MMA instructor, but I make a point to be *sure* my students know how to deal with situations where punching and kicking is a possibility. Here's a simple combo of a jab to a double. The idea is to be able to put an aggressor on the ground without having to tie up, and the mechanics are solid. Escaping the rear bodylock

If you can manage to stand up from turtle, your next battle is likely to be freeing yourself from a rear bodylock. The way we do it is somewhat counterintuitive. I talk about that here, and show how we can break the grip using structure and bodyweight instead of raw strength. The Frameworks Academy of Jiu-Jitsu Casselberry, FL

    Great video, I learned a lot!! If a home was previously tented for termites in Orlando, should that deter me from considering it? Or would I need more info from an inspection?

    • @jeranmiller
      @jeranmiller 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That should absolutely not deter you. Given enough time, practically every home will need it around here. You just can't prevent drywood termites completely from getting in. Any inspector worth his or her salt will offer to have a certified person perform a wood-destroying organism (WDO) inspection as part of their work.

    I just recently moved into a newly purchased townhouse built in the 70s. The place has drywood termites, although on the sellers disclosure he put that it has been treated and there have been no active termites for 2 years. I recently started having drywood swarmers appear throughout the house... Is it a very bad sign to be seeing swarmers in my house?

    • @jeranmiller
      @jeranmiller 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      He was likely referring to a subterranean termite problem and treatment, but I can't be sure. There is effectively no way to prevent drywoods. You can only kill them after they appear. Swarmers are not *necessarily* a very bad sign, but it's certainly not ideal. Have a professional do an inspection and see if gassing the home is needed. Because your property is an attached townhouse, you'll likely need to have the entire building done in one go if it is needed. That would probably be a bit of a nightmare.

      @@jeranmiller I went to a monthly HOA meeting where they told me if I can get my 5 other affixed neighbors to agree, then we can tent. I already half about half of them OK with it before figuring out pricing. Haven't spoken to the other 2 so hopefully I can get them on board

      Hi there. Sorry I missed this comment a year ago. Assuming you're using a fipronil treatment like Termidor, it would be every decade. If you'd prefer to save the money and take the risk regarding termites, it's a perfectly valid course of action. Everyone has different risk tolerance, and it's up to you.

    Jeran, my boy and I like going to Lotte, but we must've missed the banchan--ROAD TRIP from DELTONA!!!!! Just curious, what brought you to Seoul for 4 years? Did you have trouble assimilating, i.e. language, driving, etc.? Thanks for your vid, 체란!!!!

      Rocka Flocka Hi! I taught English and did graduate school in the area around Seoul. Assimilating never really happened. In Korea, you’re kind of “one of us” or a “foreigner”, and there’s no crossing over really. That said, I did learn the language and culture, and I could get around with no issues. The only thing lacking at Lotte is really good kimchi! They’ve got some that are fine, but nothing like homemade. There is a guy that sells the good stuff at Winter Garden Farmer’s Market, though...
