Great Kei Fishing is here to display the angling exploits of the Great Kei Adventures team, friends and guests on guided fishing tours.
Our aim is to take our viewers along on the adventure with most of our fishing taking place in the Kei Mouth area/Morgan Bay area and the Transkei with occasional expeditions to other parts of the country. Paddletail Tips off the Rocks - Kei Mouth Kob
In this video we look at some helpful tips for fishing with paddletails off the rocks. From a simple way to rig a weedless paddletail to where to cast, how to retrieve and even some info on the correct drag setting for paddletail fishing. These tips should work anywhere where you're throwing paddletails off the rocks and I know for sure that they work around Kei Mouth, Morgan Bay and the Transkei / Wild Coast.
Valie came across from Morgan Bay to join me in Kei Mouth for a session where we put the theory to the test and each managed to catch a small kob. The great thing about fishing paddletails is that with the relatively light tackle even these smaller kob are great fun to catch.

Dylan and Dom travel to the Transkei for a weekend away. Although the fishing was not great, Dylan and friends manage to smash the bluefish\bronze bream on their second day of fishing. As we head out for an afternoon of fishing we find ourselves catching some great fish. Dylan lands a 75cm\20lbs mussel cracker early on in the session while Josh remains unlucky. Dylan spends 2 days fishing at Double Mouth catching a good couple of Shad. While using a spoon and pilchard as bait, both were successful. It has taken a while for the Shad to arrive in our local area this year but we thankful that they have arrived.

Which surf rods are you using.
Various different ones on this day. But there were a few Okuma Marianas there. From 4-6 to 7-9o oz.
I had to giggle! Firstly respect to you guys for having fun....and being responsible for the future. I had a very interesting experience....DECADES ago with trying to get a fish in a pond like that. Instead of the fish...I ended up with a very unpleasant painful "hand grenade" in my hand...commonly known as a sea urchin!! 🤑😅

Some advice for the chap jokingly kicking at the mud crab! I once hooked such a crab and tried to get it into my oval shaped retrieve net which consisted of aluminum tubing of about 5mm. His big claw went over the tubing.....and squashed it FLAT right in front of my eyes! 😆😉

Hey bro i think that wasnt a zebra fish it had like silver and brownish to bronze colourings making it a buttlecull fish...one of the oceans most amazing eating fish species 😮😢❤❤❤❤

Hi Ivan. We do keep fish sometimes but bigger specimens like this one are great for the breeding stocks so we let them go. Luckily we have been catching enough shad to eat and even share some with friends and family so it was an easy choice to release this lovely silver.

They all got their chance to pose with their fish and got a good picture. As we were releasing the fish and had limited hands available we couldn't really waste time to get all angles with each different camera.
