I'm 22 and am playing this game through an emulator for the first time ever, since I was years from being born when this game was originally released. It’s PlayStation 30th anniversary. I thought I’d boot up an emulator and experience this gem for the first time and embrace the horror and nostalgia. I never grew up playing this classic as I wasn’t born yet, but I’m a huge fan of classic/retro games and media so it was a matter of time before I’d pick up the original Silent Hill. As soon as I heard this opening I understood right there what I’d been missing out on. Super grateful to become a fan of this amazing series. [December 6th, 2024, 1:16 am]

I like how the game portrays certain moods. This one starts simple, but then at about 0:50 it picks up and gets hectic, which if I remember correctly, happened around the same time my fight-or-flight mode ingame went from "fight me, demons" to "oh-shit-ohfuckfuck-run" mode.

i liked silent hill 2 and all, but damn silent hill 1 was superior in every way ,except graphics of course but even the art style in the first game was better for the nightmare world or whatever its called

I think that silent hill 2, as much as it is crowned as the best one in series. It travels for me away a bit much from original alchemical connection to the uknown having horror. There's hardly anything that comes close to the feeling of dread while listening to a soundtrack. Alone in the dark the new nightmare had an awesome soundtrack aswell.

for those saying it sounds like twin peaks, akira yamaoka has said some of his music is influenced by angelo badalamenti's music, he is the guy that composed the music for twin peaks (and other david lynch movies)

i just played silent hill 2 (original) and i gotta be honest, i liked the first game more.
