Thank you mr Nicholas for your wonderful cultural literary channel. Happy Halloween. We have celebration in Arabic countries especially at gulf area my home country Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman but , not related to horror. Kids wearing traditional clothes go from house to house to collect candy and money . As I read Halloween is pagan religious celebration in Gaelic tradition to welcome harvest at end of summer, activities include parties , Jack lanterns , trick or treating for kids and adults, it’s ancient Celtic holiday of Samhain. Scottish poet Robert burns wrote poem Halloween in 1774 , its one of burns longer poems with 28 stanzas , employed mixture of scots and English. I chose some lines of poem here it’s upon that night , when fairies light on cassilis downing dance , or wore the lay in splendid blaze , on spirightly coursers prance , or for Colean the rout tstaans , beanth moon pale beams , there up cove , to stray rove among rocks and streams to sport that night . American Edgar Allen Poe wrote Halloween poem in year said we then two then - ah can’t have been that woodland is ghouls pitiful merciful. Ghouls - to bar up our way and to ban it from secret lies in these wolds had drawn up spectre of plant from limb of lunary souls .

Thank you mr Nicholas for your wonderful cultural literary channel. It’s great coincidence ,because mr Greg brownderville before few days talked about how I became poet . Honestly sir poetry is talent as general rule ( poets are made not born ) . I found out many people can be authors , great writers if they tell their life experiences, memoirs, either happy or sad . Definitely talented people writers or poets must develop their skills by working hard , further reading . I am sure poetry it’s considered little be hard because it’s tends to certain structures such as rhyming lines , meter , rhyming emphasis of line which based on syllablic beats . I read before Whitman and Dickinson American poetry used European style was popular at that time which is highly structured to rhyme , meter , line stanza . American poetry return to simplicity include language, rejection of traditional forms , experimental with new topics and style . Iam sure sir that all states of America history and lands are inspiring how about travel there. As I read your city Cincinnati in Ohio state is very attractive city known as birth place of professional baseball, queen of west , Athen of west , little paris , Paris of America, Queen City , nati . There are river known as little Miami river . Steven Spielberg is best Hollywood director , actor , wealthiest filmmakers in the world. I hope your project willd sonnets will won notable awards it’s really great hardworking project.

If you please Sir . I told you before I studied English both language and literature till second year and left college it’s will of god not mine . I still remember epic poem of John Milton ( paradise lost ) which is written in blank verse , 12 books narrative for English language, themes depiction of fall of man , Adam and Eve and Satan , war in heaven in which satan challenged god throne and was cast down in punishment. I read too sonnet 29 of Shakespeare about religious nature , first state heaven is deaf to his booths useless cries ( line 3) lark at break of day arising symbolizes speaker birth to life where he can sing hymn at heaven gate . Walt Whitman poem song to myself I really enjoy reading I celebrate myself and sing myself , for every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you . I loafe and invite my soul , I lean and loafe at my ease observing spear of summer grass my tongue, every atom . Writer jay parini named it greatest American poem ever written in 2011 about relationships with elements of nature and universe . Emily Dickinson poem some keep sabbath going to church I keep it staying at home , with Bob link for chorister and orchard for some . Some keep sabbath in surplice , I just wearing wings , and instead of tolling bell for church , our little sexton sings god preaches noted . Clergyman and sermons is never long , so instead of going to heaven at last Iam going all long . This poem theme about accessing faith outside wall of church , poem demonstrates Dickinson keen interest in both natural world and Christianity with touch of her characteristics wit . Thank you for giving us chance to read learn new information. Iam so sorry to be little long but reading and writing both are great ways to improve our English as none native speakers. Good luck to you your dearest ones.

Thank you mr Nicholas for your wonderful cultural literary channel. I didn’t send comments to you from long time. Please don’t misunderstand me Iam Arabic musilm lady. We considered Mary mother of Jesus as lady of world women, no woman mentioned in Quran by name except her. Jesus will come from heaven to earth before day of judgment as just ruler and will defeat Antichrist and his army as prophet Muhammad told us before more than 14 th centuries. Bible , Torah , psalms, quarn all are books of god . We are so sorry about what happened this during opening ceremony of Olympic Games in Paris all Islamic world both clergymen and citizens are very angry Of portraying prophet Jesus we considered him too spirit of god , this hurt feelings of believers of religions. I just read right now about sabbath breakers story in bible it’s great similarity to which mentioned in holy Quran. Sabbath day is holy day for worship not for work . People of villages who were fishers and on Saturday there are many fish and they disobeyed order of god and turned to monkeys and swines . As I read too Ten Commandments on monument on grounds of Texas State Capitol fourth commandment listed remember sabbath day to keep it holy .

Thank you mr Nicholas for your wonderful cultural literary channel. I just read right now about American sonnet structure is looser , more musical and inventive variation , that it traditional counterpart. Having no required rhyme scheme or specific meter . Poet had freedom to innovate their own constraints within 14 lines . American poets who wrote sonnet such as Edgar Allen Poe to science. Emily Dickinson there are another sky . Unfortunately she was little known during her life and , became most famous figures of American poetry . There is another sky ever serene and fair and there is another sunshine , though darkness there . Never mind faded Forest Austin. Never mind slient fields . Here is little forest whose leaf is evergreen here is brighter garden . Where not frost has been in unfading flowers . I hear bright bee hum . Prithee my brother into my garden come . This poem addressed to her brother Austin . There are poetic work have same name of your collection willd sonnets published in 2013 . It’s one of most difficult and challenging of poetic form to master written by Anthony boniface. Poetic safari in search of plants and fungi from around world , drawing by artist Janet blight . Honestly I found out that Walt Whitman wrote his great poetic work leaves of grass heroic couplets . Four decades he spent most of his professional life writing, rewriting expanding leaves of grass until his death . Thank you for giving us chance to read learn new information. Best wishes for you your dearest ones .

Happy belated Independence Day mr Nicholas. Thank you for your wonderful literary cultural channel. You encourage us to study about poetry devices and themes . Actually I just read right now about bird’s symbolism in poetry birds in old English poetry displays psychology of human soul that invokes spirit and mind . Poets in romantic period used birds in order to understand and relate nature of different aspects like feelings, beliefs, signs and messages . Birds symbolize freedom, hope , spirit, new opportunities. Famous birds poems samuel Taylor Coleridge nightingale, John Keats ode to nightingale, Percy Shelley skylark. There are too American poet Edgar Allen Poe poem raven about raven turns man by declining he will forget his lost love never more . American poet Emily Dickinson poem hope is thing with feathers she compares hope to birds always present in soul . We appreciate your great efforts as foreigners subscribers as overseas students want to increase our cultural knowledge, improve our English and literature lovers too . I have great news Iam going to be English teacher in academy improving plan for weak students, this achievement due to efforts. Best wishes for you your dearest ones .

Khatoon - thank you so much for your comment regarding the symbolism of birds in poetry. Ironically, I have a recent poem slated for the new book (The Wild Sonnets: Volume VII) which recounts a pair of sightings of impressive birds, both of which happened on the same day. I'll post it below for you to consider how it aligns with the poems you mention above: Wild Sonnet #682 A solitary eagle perched upon the gable Of a house in a neighboring street as I Walked past - her wide wings folded underneath Like newspapers, and her sharp face turning like A weather vane in the early cool of the May morning. What was such a visit and vision to portend, Unsettling and said, before she would ascend? Then in the afternoon, a lonely little owl Of speckled white stood motionless upon The worn and wooden railing of the fence between The bristling lawn of my backyard and the deep And greening woods beyond. Her back to me As if to say: I will not tell you what to pray, Or what this sighting here is meant to say. And congratulations on your new position as English teacher. Your student will be lucky to have you as their mentor.

If you please mr Nicholas I read poem you wrote on father day it’s on June 16 2024 from wild sonnets 684 I like it and enjoy reading. How does man six decades in appear before his parents who have passed . Did they when holding in their cradled arms my mewling infancy imagine I would be eldered in their absence , creature so heavy with faults, history of fly and fail , a beast whose pride behind him follows like tail . I did believe they felt moment blessed to have me - inchling full of promise ,though only hour old and many days and years before I’d know feeling faculties of sight and speech , and many more until seventh sense of how I might fufill promise of that ancient moment. Happy father day mr Nicholas. Actually we celebrate mother day in Arabic countries as well as England on March , you in USA and Canada on May . Father day in USA in 16 of June and us in Arabic region 21 of June . May god bless all parents around world. Interesting facts that mother day originated in England since 16 th century Mothering Sunday , known as refreshment Sunday ,children and family members give presents to their mothers . I just found out that American woman have idea of celebration father day Sonora smart Dodd of Spokane Washington. In 1909 while she was listening to sermon on mother day . Sonora admired her father William Jackson smart , civil war veteran who raised her and her siblings alone after her mother died .

Thank you mr Nicholas for your wonderful cultural literary channel. As I told you before I studied English both language and literature till second year left college it’s will of god , not mine . I still remember Shakespeare sonnet shall I compare thee to summer day ? More lovely lovely and more temperate. Rough winds do shake darling buds on May . We got surprised when our professor told us , he addressed to dark lady . I just read that British playwright George Bernard Shaw wrote short comedy play dark lady of sonnets to encounter Queen Elizabeth and attempts to persuade her to create national theatre by 1916 . In sonnet 154 Cupid falls asleep and torch is taken by most beautiful nymph who tries to put it out in nearly well but doesn’t not succeed . Drawing from both effect to these actions performed by both nymphs , both sonnets arrive at same conclusion ( water can’t quench love ). 154 sonnet published in 1609 covering themes such as passage of time , morality, love , beauty, infidelity. First of Shakespeare sonnets are addressed to young man and last addressed to woman mysterious dark lady .really Shakespeare is genius although he didn’t resume his study at school .

Thank you, Khatoon. For a fascinating study of what Shakespeare knew about the art of poetry and where he learned it, I recommend this book: Shakespeare's Use of the Arts of Language by Sister Miriam Joseph. It details what grammar school students learned in the Elizabethan Age, and provides examples from the Bard's work for each rhetorical and poetic device. This book changed my life and writing when I read it in my mid-20's. Last part of your interview you said poet , songwriter Anais Mitchell who wrote broadway musical hadestown in New York Times, every time she sets out to write song , she remaind herself of differences between play and poetry. Relationship between poetry and community, poet or every artist has two obligations, one to bring their work into world , two to bring world to their work. Final question wild sonnets you have written to represent yourself, your work . If you have tombstone engrave these lines I chose some lines 234 I know there comes moment to soul when it ready to lay burden of body down ready to set senses . Second poem 435 wooden stairs descending to sand conceding to backward sea it’s nearly night and reluctant stars . Iam so sorry to be little long but reading and writing both are great ways to improve our English as non native speakers. I have great news I will be English teacher in academy of improving plan for weak student . I hope I became good teacher and make use of your knowledge sir and TH-cam community to guide students properly. Best wishes for you your dearest ones .
