Binding off in the Round
Binding off your knitting in the round is much the same as binding off when you knit flat pieces, but with an additional step when you weave in your ends to make a truly invisible join that matches the rest of the edge.
Remember to bind off loosely!

Joining in the Round
มุมมอง 734 ปีที่แล้ว
The first step to knitting in the round is joining in the round! Here we show you our favorite method that yields an almost invisible join, and is incredibly sturdy. Remember to always cast one 1 extra stitch than what the pattern calls for with this method. Knitting in the round allows you to knit in a continuous spiral, to make accessories and garments that are generally tube-shaped. Hats, sw...

Purl Stitch
มุมมอง 1494 ปีที่แล้ว
The purl stitch is the second foundation stitch in knitting. Here, we're learning how to do it English style, with the working yarn held in the right hand. Purling is the reverse of knitting and Stockinette stitch is a fabric created when you knit one row, and then purl the next (which is on the reverse side) - yielding a fabric where all your stitches are facing the same way. Unlike garter sti...

    Thank you for this! I've never used a yarn cake before, and was puzzled as to what was the best way to pull from. As far as the yarn rolling when you pull from the outside, I made my own "yarn bowl" from a washed out coffee can I sit on the floor by my chair. No rolling away!

    I'm a beginner knitter and I saw a tutorial on a knitted collared shirt and it requires two needles which are 3mm (40 cm) and 3mm (60 cm), since they are of the same needle diameter does the length of the cable really matter? I can't afford interchangeables as of the moment.

      @thewellknitco.4428 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Without seeing the pattern, we can't give precise recommendations. However, I am assuming the longer circular will be used on the body, and the shorter for the sleeves. You can probably get away with just the longer pair, but you might need a cable or waste yarn to hold your live stitches at some point.

    im using cake style yarn for the first time and i wasn't sure if i pull from the center or the outside. I went with center pull ( mandala ombre yarn ) and i was moving right along until like you said the cake starts to flatten . that is exactly what happened to me last night as i was working through my first cake . The label loosened and the yarn came out in a HUGE MESS!!!! I spent 6 hours trying to untangle it all . I ended up having to cut the yarn many many times and i formed 3 small balls trying to match the colorway of the cake. It was a MESS! I don't want to go through that again in my 5 remaining cakes! Should I ball them up right before i use them or just pull from the outside? HELP !!!!!

    • @thewellknitco.4428
      @thewellknitco.4428 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We much prefer pulling from the outside of a yarn cake, which avoids the inevitable collapse! However, if you’re working with an ombré yarn, you sometimes *want* the inside color first. In those cases, we definitely recommend re-winding the yarn. There are also these handy products called “yarn cake keepers” that are basically a stretchy tube (a large cut up sock would probably work just as well) that goes over your cake to keep the collapse from becoming too tangly.

For now i'll be cutting one of my husbands socks lol 🙋🏼‍♀️😂😎 if that doesn't work you'll find me in the corner balling up all of my yarn lol

      So glad it was helpful! Whip-stitching and then burying the end in the “tunnel” it creates is a really great way to end a lot of seaming - neat, plus it makes sure your end is really secure!
