    Have you got any footage of the new road and motorway junction at Catherine De Barnes that you could share? Would be interested to see what progress looks like now.

    All impressive civils but the cost on generations to come is incomprehensibly expensive. I dont believe a word of the cost vs benefit feasibility study that mustve gone inro this mammoth exercise........it wont be 225mph either.

    I almost didn't recognise it, but a stream here, a prominent building there and the curve of a motorway slip road brought it all back to my experience in September 2018 when I walked that section of the route. I saw a homely farm, some creaky ancient barns on the opposite side of the road, dips and bumps of a moat, mature trees, a rise to a long driveway, a stack of black shrink wrapped bales, down to a river with willow trees and up the other side by a stand of pines in a field; and there a sight to behold in the early autumn sun - the spindly branches of a once great tree dead as dead could be, positioned directly in front of a similar tree, alive as alive could be, the two as one, singular and magnificent; all completely gone

    Nothing but a monstrous blot on the landscape & a complete & utter waste of billions of pounds. HS2 is an environmental disaster of epic proportions & Britain's biggest infrastructure mistake in half a century.

    another good video of this area _ I drive past this area regularly _ really starting to see a lot of progress _ it's going to look very different later _ as the works by Coleshill Manor & M42 viaduct crossing towards Gilson take shape _ see where those steel sections get assembled really enjoying your coverage of this area _ it doesn't get the footage compared to Hams Hall 👏

    Thanks for this - it is the first video of this section I have seen for a while. The progress is really interesting. The earlier road realignments and landscaping are all blending in well. As others have said this is going to be a very important section forming the interchange to Birmingham Airport.

    I walked this in August 2018. There was machinery, conveyors and crushers rusting at the southern end, an abandoned railway, a stream among trees, up a hill into a big field with pylons and a mast. In the corner along a pretty lane, the entrance to a dirt bike track. The land dropped through scrub, passed a deserted farm, more pylons, then in the corner on the diagonal, the route met a flyover roundabout across the M42. How strange, it's not quite all gone. The stream is there, but the trees are not, the pylons are there, but the mast is not, the lane is there, so is the entrance to the dirt bike track, but the huts have gone. The deserted farm and the M42 are there, but the roundabout that spanned it has completely disappeared

    First flying south, then turning round to give a view towards the M6 - fascinating to see the new railway formation emerging, threading through the built-up areas and swapping roads around as the shape of the post-construction sites steadily emerges. Great to see at 3:35 how the line will fly over the new box above the M42. Also the greenery is reasserting itself where construction has finished. Thanks for the video.

    I think this is the first time that I've seen footage of what will become Interchange Station _ main build contract is yet to start but enabling work is still going on _ pilling rig & crane by M42 for bridge over M42 _ it's closed there next weekend (1_4 November)_ listed as work to facilitate peir construction as hs2 heads towards Deelta junction _ going to be a big development once Arden Cross masterplan begins on that area _ liked that video👏 look forward to your next installment

    • @mittfh
      @mittfh 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There probably won't be as many drone videos (from anyone) of the interchange site as other parts of the build, as due to its proximity to Birmingham Airport, it's well within the Flight Restriction Zone - and many drone operators don't want to go to the hassle of seeking written permission from ATC before they can fly.

    • @Michael-61-n3l
      @Michael-61-n3l 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes _ I'd heard that _ but I hope that doesn't discourage drone operation _ going to be interesting few years around there_ just hopeful they can get the necessary paperwork as & when required _ time will tell on that

    how do you deal with the helipad there , which fly along the thames, do you not cross the river for that reason Also you where flying right near the US embassy 9:40 the square building with the moat and MI6 4:01

    Thanks, I work on this site everyday , this is the first drone video I've seen that covers it. The b4114 will be restored to its original position. Manor drive will be permanently moved to that new road next to the embankment and the river cole has been redirected between the piers next to the m42, all to allow for the embankment towards gilson. Big stuff!

    • @cmclewee9518
      @cmclewee9518 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ben, glad you have a job to work on this project, and I understand what HS2 is trying to do, but really! It would have been far cheaper and quicker to have built 2 motorways from London to Birmingham and have a much smaller footprint. That work site at min 2.02 will never recover as usable farmland, and the footprint of the railway is greater than even an 8 lane motorway, thats obvious just looking at the adjacent stretch of motorway in the video.

    • @charliep1973
      @charliep1973 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cmclewee9518 The 'footprint' of the railway in most of that video is basically just the bases of the columns you can see being built. And it's only so wide here because it's a junction where the line splits into two - going to Curzon Street and north to Manchester. Look at any photos of HS1 next to the M20 to see a true comparison.

    • @charliep1973
      @charliep1973 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Weirdly I was looking at the B4114 about an hour ago and wondering if the diversion was permanent - I eventually worked out it wasn't and why it had been done that way...

    • @mikehindson-evans159
      @mikehindson-evans159 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @cmclewee9518 Err, you DO realise that the "final footprint" of the New Spine Railway will be a two-track high-speed railway in a green corridor, don't you? WAY narrower than another failed motorway expansion.

      How can anyone claim this railway is taking less land than a motorway would, when you look at this video and many others and compare the width being used for HS2 it's far wider than any motorway even if you include the 5 lane sections of the M25.

      @@cmclewee9518 When finished and landscaped it will take up <a third of the width of a motorway. Right now in the building phase they need a haul road running alongside it and mounds of earth that's dug out and being stored for when it makes the cuttings and other finishing touches. All perfectly normal. Cant bake a cake and all that
