Any idea what happened to Standard games? I tried finding out what happened to them to ask them about Dragonroar and perhaps the rules being adapted, or anything else happening to it/derived from it.
On Board Game Geek the latest publication date for a game is 1989. I couldn't fine them on Companies House. The Wargames Directory states that their miniatures were acquired by Chariot Miniatures, then Navigator Miniatures then Magister Militum but I can't find any Dragonroar minis on their website. I would love Precis Media to publish Dragonroar but I guess it would be tricky because of the cassettes being part of the package, even though they're not essential at all.
2:51 Yay! I literally cheered aloud when I saw my book in your collection. Thank you for being such a wonderful supporter of BFRPG, Paul.
Your book is so incredibly useful. I always wanted a book like this just to be able to grab NPCs, mercenaries and hirelings from. My BF campaign this year has been such great fun and the system, wealth of adventures and useful content make it a joy to run. 🙂
Mandingo!
You know it makes absolute and total sense. Ricicles.
PSA! Do yourselves a favor and just get the White Box book. The other ones are price prohibitive and not any better for that extra cash/money. Okay rant over... Thanks for the share!!
This is a bit of a random comment on one of oyur videos - but I have to say I really love your style of content creation. It's so hard to find other channels doing the same thing - focused on action and storytelling, judicious editing to remove dead air, etc. - it seems many are content to just upload 2hr long livestreams of rolling on Mythic GM Emulator or reading out of a book. Thank you!
So based on this, would you say that Scarlet Heroes combat rules work for a pair of players? Or best left to a single hero?
I like the usage of the Folklore: The Affliction maps for gameplay.
What would you say is the main distinction between Basic Fantasy and FMAG/OSE please? You have mentioned it a few times as your fav but with those I own I'm not sure what the value proposition is! Which BF adventure would you recommend for a bunch of newbie players?
A great newbie adventure would be The Tomb of Threy as it has roleplaying, investigation, overland adventure, a big fight and a small dungeon and can sow seeds for further adventures (it's in Adventure Anthology 2). The amount of content for Basic Fantasy is hard to beat and it is all free or printed at cost, from adventures of all types, to extra monsters, equipment & services, NPCs and optional rules and supplements. The characters are just that bit more sturdy than FMAG/OSE and there are optional rules in the core book to tailor the game to your tastes.
@@paultice Thank you Paul, that looks like a lovely little adventure. I've managed to get buy in from 4 local dads to commit to a bit of a campaign so will check out BF now. I did get WHFRP based on your recent run through but I'm finding it very hard work indeed, what do you think?
@@paultice Can you please help clarify what you mean about characters being sturdy? I've looked through the rules but I can't see it...
@@williamswargames The to-hit bonus gives them a bit more of a chance in a fight.
@@williamswargames I'll perhaps try to put a video together explaining things a bit, as far as I understand it anyway 🙂
"You've seen my Basic Fantasy collection. You know what I'm like." Oh man that is absolute truth. Chrysagon's Coterie is next level for the franchise. Todd Lyons is a great creator! Tough about Dragonbane. I never ran it for a group, but I dug playing it solo. I always end up back playing into the Odd or Cairn. I'm a sucker for D20 roll under systems!
Aw, thanks Simon. It's a wonderfully supportive community and I appreciate you in particular.
good to see you back on the Tubes! hopefully some winter sessions coming up?
I hope so. I'd like to try something with Solo Dark.
Nice to watch a new video, Paul. Always like your stuff and to listen to your thoughts.
Thanks Rich ☺👍
I echo the same thoughts concerning Dragonbane Paul. Hope we can play again soon. Cheers.
Thank you for this!
6:44 my brother runs from any fight he feels is unwinnable. Which is most in the eyes of his thieves and magic users.
It's a sensible option with WFRP and any OSR game 😄
Wow! Now that’s a lot of Basic Fantasy! Nice collection sir. Does it play just like Red Box edition?
I think the heroes seem just a bit more sturdy. It's definitely its own thing and has Ascending Armour Class by default.
BFRPG my favorite as well. Old school vibes that remind me of games when we played back in the 80’s. I also like that I spent $30 on Amazon and got a copy of the rulebook for everyone playing.
Wow! a complete Dragonroar collection, I have the base box set, I doubt I will ever get the extra stuff you have but That's ok. Dragonroar is a great game though up against D&D it had no chance, The cassette tape adventure is a great concept, what would have been amazing is if the publishers of Dragonroar released stand alone cassette tape adventures similar to a basic D&D module, though everything is contained within the cassette tape case and each can be played solo or cooperative DM-less, open ended, fantasy adventures they would have made millions. Both cassette tape adventures have been uploaded to youtube luckily, It would be great if you would play through both cassette tape adventures live, as you have both box sets. All the best cheers!. 👍
Very helpful, thanks!
Among the Oe games, Iron Falcon by Chris Gonnerman is my favorite. Blueholme and Iron Falcon are my favorite rpgs atm.
This is great. Plan on doing anymore? 4 years is a long time to “continue”. I do enjoy your channel. Thank you for your videos.
I'd like to do some more Basic Fantasy stuff, but I don't know if we'll be returning to Tristor 😊
Lovely game!
Just was using Into the Wyrd and Wild in my solo game. Had to come back and give another watch.
Hey, thanks for the kind words for Basic Fantasy RPG! Much appreciated!
Hi Chris. I'm currently 10 sessions into running another Basic Fantasy campaign 😀 It's my favourite RPG bar none.
@@paultice Excellent, glad you're enjoying it!
@@ChrisGonnermanhey Chris, I just wanted to say my friends enjoy Iron Falcon very much. We ran it as a 50th anniversary game this year. Together with Blueholme it is my favorite game atm. Thank you very much, I appreciate your work, both lines are great.
I'm glad to see more Runecairn adventures. Out of curiosity, do the cards come with the map?
The cards are Deck of Stories NPC cards which I got from Amazon, the Harbour location card was from Quest A Time of Heroes, and the map is from here www.thebrochproject.co.uk/caithness-adventure-map
It's amazing how that story wrote itself.
I will soon run this adventure for someone. Thanks for the sneak preview.
This directly influenced me on buying WHFRP 1e - you owe my wallet an apology! Book is great though
Nice playthrough. I've also been thinking about having a go at this game solo. What tools are you using to make solo work?
From what I understand 'Geas' is pronounced 'Guys' as in 'Oh You Guys' which is a compelled action🥰 Another great episode🥰🥰
So awesome to see a playthrough of this stellar game system🥰 Is the GM screen from FF or is that a home made one?🥰Ty ty for an awesome episode - Would love to see more FF plays🥰🥰 Love your show - Lots of great ideas🥰🥰
The screen was the 5e Dungeon Master's Screen Reincarnated, which I no longer have 🐉
Great creation and fight video. I really need to get hold of WFRP 1e
That looks cool. Starting and losing a bar fight, just like real life lol. Just a quick question, what camera do you use? Like the vids, man.
It's a Yimona Webcam for PC - 1080P FHD
@@paultice Sweet. Appreciate it, duder.
White Dwarf had loads of WFRP content from 100 onwards from what I remember. Also the front cover fight was also covered in the first Gotrek & Felix novel! ⚔
Make character, get rekked in a bar, run away and hide for weeks. Amazing. lol
