Physical Media Fan & Collector, I like owning my favorite movies as opposed to streaming. Horror & Science Fiction are my first Cinematic passion, but I also enjoy movies and TV shows from other genres (Drama, Comedy, Western, Music, etc). My "sweet spot" is definitely the 20th Century and older movies -- but I do watch and comment on some stuff from today, too. I usually prefer good old practical effects to today's "cartoony-looking" CGI fx.

KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (2024) Review
I didn't have the chance to watch live but enjoyed the show. Thanks Joe!
Glad you enjoyed it
Except for part of the 1st film, I had never seen any of these films until about 10 years ago. I checked out all these DVDs individually from different libraries, and watched them in order over a couple of weeks. People generally say that the 1st one is the best, and that the next two are good, and that the quality generally goes down. Dashiell Hammett (the author of the 1934 novel, "The Thin Man") was involved with the writing of the first 3 films' storylines and scripts (the 1st is a very direct adaptation of the book). There are still things in the later films that make them worth watching (in my opinion). "The Thin Man Goes Home," is about him going back to the town where he grew up- he's very cosmopolitan, but he was from a small town in the south. There's a little bit of "culture shock" for his wife, who only knew life in NYC. If you like Myrna Loy and William Powell, then these films are all pleasant to watch.
I've got to get to this series
At least, watch the 1st one. It's an interesting mix of film noir and light humor. Nick seems to take things lightly, but is a serious detective at the same time.
You have a pretty big collection, and I like seeing the captions of what some of these actors wrote, like "You want WHAT?" and "Sweet dreams." Hey, maybe that hair in the sleeve was Lou Ferrigno's hair! (probably just yours).
Joe, I enjoy your autograph series. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Hi Joe…Lassie was a member of our gang. She passed 2/15/18. She even played on our favorite show The Odd Couple. Episode “New York’s Oddest” Mrs. Bennick
Wow. Thanks for the information
@ you’re very welcome Joe!
I believe he played Darlas' father "Mr. Hood"!
Are you sure?
Very cool to have a Spanky autograph, very cool!
My favorite of the cast.
great series!
thanks
Thanks for sharing Joe! Makes me want to go pull out the autographs I have. Always enjoy hearing about your personal encounters with celebrities.
more to come
Jamie-Lynn Sigler certainly isn't shy posing for pictures. Where's the picture of you and Ernest Borgnine?
One of these days
Ingrid Pitt was an amazingly breathtaking woman.
If you’re a little rascals fan I recommend the book by Leonard Malton.
Got it! The original and reissue!
Like your autograph segment videos, I use the paint fluorescent hot orange, pink, blue makers when I have a poster or record album or photo to have signed especially when item is mostly darkish - makes the signatures pop loud. Cassandra Peterson liked my orange paint marker so much I gave it to her & she gave some Elvira jewelry - Thanks for sharing.
Thanks
Great autograph collection, reminds me of doing the same thing out here in Hollywood California, especially after live Jimmy Kimmel show at back alley where Stars would walk to their car we would get items signed. At now defunct Tower Records Rod Stewart did a CD signing & I was in line talking to person on back of me & suddenly it was my turn Rod said 'Hi chap' I couldn't think of what to answer so just said 'Do you believe in the Loc Ness Monster', his staff laughed & Rod looked puzzled squinted his eyes. Thanks Joe I bet you got some neat sci fi horror signings too.
Thanks, yes
Joe, I enjoyed all 3 episodes on autographs. Happy Thanksgiving.
It was still great seeing Boris back in costume.
Love these autograph stories. I love the Joan Jett ones the best. That lady rocks!
Al Pacino is my favorite actor of all time ! Nobody else compares.
Great autographs and stories of each one!
They were all cool, but I love the personalized note from Joan Jett.
nice
love this series of video very interesting hearing all the stories about the autographs. Where did you get all those photos of actors , to have them sign it
@@amichaeljacksonfanatic7431 Many were from a movie memorabilia store in NYC.
I enjoyed watching Episode 1 and 2 and was going to comment i'm ready for 3 but I guess that wish was already granted lol. Nice collection!
Thanks
Great job Joe!🎬
Thanks! 👍
Like to hear the Joan Jett stories. Sean Young might have made a quite fetching Catwoman. Good storis about Pacino, Cusack and Reiner too.
I would have been on the chat, but when I came home from work, you had already ended this about 15 minutes earlier. About the train, I've heard it a few times, but it was always very soft, in the background. I usually only noticed when you pointed it out. "Hey, there's another train."
I hate how sets are set up like that, my Seinfeld set is like that and it's nearly impossible to keep it organized.
I totally agree with you Joe, I have so many box sets like that, and I hate the packaging too. One of the later Lost In Space Box Sets had horrible packaging. It does not help when they are shipped through the mail and discs come off the hubs and they get scratched. So I totally get what your saying. I hope the BluRay set has much better packaging
I agree about LIS.
But I didn't this was the original back in the 50's.
I've only seen the remake from the 2000s played by rya kihldsted.
Glad you’re getting into Colombo, my favorite episode was one that starred Johnny Cash - my dad, who didn’t watch a lot of TV, it was his favorite show. I liked it then, and I find that it has held up quite well, unlike a lot of shows, especially seeing it now as a much older person:.. sorry, I guess this comment pertains more to the previous video on this topic, which I’ve just viewed…. Take care. - Thomas Calden
You got a good deal there I've only got the first two seasons.
Cool autographs I only have Raquel Welch out of this lot. Met her in London she had short hair and was promoting her Yoga book and keep fit video. Oh boy was she fit. She always wrote back when I sent photos from One Million Years BC, Kansas City Bomber, 3 Muskateers and Fathom and Roustabout. She said people were always sending her the wrong photo from Roustabout fans thought the girl in the Shower was Raquel when she was the girl in the blue outfit. I had a photo of Terri Garr with Elvis but never got to meet her to get it signed.
Jack Cassidy was in a few episodes and he is great as a Columbo enemy!
I liked him in the first one, that's for sure!
hi joe, more really cool autographs! lots of great stars, one of my favorites is richard dreyfuss. thanks for sharing these, take care, rob
hi joe, i know how frustrating it is to get damaged goods, this has happened to me a couple of times , not fun especially when you pay good money for the product. hope you can get another copy. thanks for sharing, take care, rob
There is even one episode directed by a young Steven spielberg! Greetings from Sweden!
I just watched it last night
That’s why I just watch them on Peacock or my original VHS, Amazon has been hit or miss lately
Nah, I'll just get the Blu-ray Set. Better high definition quality anyway, and Blu-ray discs are more durable.
Blu-rays at least tend to be more durable, scratching less and affecting play less.
I think you're right.
So glad you are enjoying rhe Columbo aeries..Its one of my most loved crime dramas! Such a shame about whats happened to the discs...Yes you are right that sort of casing does not help...I have rhe cigar box collection which came with individual dvd cases! By the way I discovered there are a few audio versions of some episodes. Regards Keith UK
Sorry to hear about your dvd joe, that happened to me with my 21 disc boxset hammer horror, 20 discs mint one scratched up, i didn't exchange it because it played ok i thought if i changed it for another set, that set may have more scratched discs inside. I dont blame you if you go for the blueray joe, is there knowbody on ebay selling them separately cheep to make up your set.? Strange coincidence i was watching those episodes last night b,f, n,Charles
Phew! Just when you thought you had a bargoon. The blu-ray complete series set is $176! You oughta get a refund for that first set.
Hi Joe, not sure if you aware but you can get the complete set seasons 1-7 in two box sets on blu ray by Kino. I ordered direct from Kino Lorber website. I would return the set you got money back.
Hi Joe, I also just recently got into the series as well! After watching the first pilot and seeing the difference compared to the rest of season 1, I was hooked! Right now I’m just barely starting season 2, but the little details about the series really shine through, and every actor is incredible in their roles. One of my personal favorites was “Suitable for Framing”! I hope you enjoy the series as well as I have just begun to!
That's aggravating. The companies that make sets like this should do something to improve the design of the packaging, so that the discs will all stay on their hubs.
Very frustrating joe, another issue is those pvc cases, over time oil's build up on the discs with smudges. I usually turn the discs around so the recorded part is not on those horrible trays. Cheers from the playhouse my friend joe!
Cheers, and thanks
Those hubs aren't ideal, I don't think that I've come across one in the wild that's not a "rattler", glad you're enjoying the series though. I may have to finally pick them up although I already have a load of other series to watch.
The only good thing about those cases is the space they save but I still hate them too. Nearly cracked a disc once, trying to get one out. Decided to take them all out and put them in a binder. Don't know how badly scratched your disc is but I've had discs full of scratches that play fine. Dvds are usually pretty resilient to them if they're not deep scratches. These days I wouldn't rule out the disc is just faulty irrespective of the scratches.
Damn that sucks. Return it if you can and, if you like it enough, get the Bluray. What I love about Columbo in particular is how rewatchable it is mainly due to Columbo's character, his eye for detail, the way he goes about his investigations and the dynamic between him and his suspects. Because let's face it, it's not even a whodunnit, it's a whodunnit in reverse where the killer is revealed right at the very start. You'd think one would lose interest in it very quick - not the case at all. Whenever I stumble on it after not having watched it for several years, I can watch it again no problem for the aforementioned reasons.
Exactly. Though three shows in, there already seems to be a "sameness" to the structure. The killer is usually pretty relaxed and shrewd too.
