    Great Vid, I’m looking at this or the new long range MG ZS. Just on your VTL PORTION AND THE FUTURE possibilities. If you pair this with a Powerwall 3, you would be able to use the 11kw powerwall to run your whole house and then use the car to top up the battery (when solar isn’t optimal or at night time). This would give you 70+kw of battery to use in the house!!!

      The traffic jam assist - is a fancy marketing terms for the auto steering, lane keep features which also work at low speeds. Something which on most cars you will find only at highway speeds. Engage these lane keep at low speeds and you are using traffic jam assist

    I have my bedroom and living room air cons wired to connect to both the house supply and EV separated with automatic transfer switches. During the day, the living room air con runs on my house supply which is mostly solar, switching to EV supply at 5.30 pm. At 10 pm I turn off the living room air, an ATS switches the living room air con (now on standby) to grid supply and my EV powers the bedroom air con for the rest of the night. Plugging the EV charger in the morning recharges the EV battery from my solar panels. It works well and saves me drawing around 12 kWh per night from the grid. I had to do it this way as the BYD Seal is only rated for 2.3 kW long term and both my air cons are 18000 BTU units rated at 2kW max so I cannot run both from the EV at the same time. In summary I can run an 18000 BTU air con from sunset to sunrise for free....

  • @Asian_Dora
    @Asian_Dora 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Why would you give power back to the grid? You know they’ll just run generators instead of paying for any of your cars power

  • @andreacoppini
    @andreacoppini 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Sure, because VAG has a reputation for offering upgrades to existing cars… they won’t even update their abysmal infotainment software! As for V2G, already possible with a wall box pulsar, but can you imagine the head spin ARMS/Enemalta will go into if you attempt this?

    • @TheFutureisElectric
      @TheFutureisElectric 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Maybe it ends up being a third party solution? Yes re V2G, it’s the legislation more than the technology which is holding this back for the most part.

    • @AOTanoos22
      @AOTanoos22 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Skoda is a VW AG product, they wont upgrade anything on a hardware level. Having DC charging has nothing to do with vehicle to grid and their cars you buy now do not support it nor will they update their old cars to enable it in the future. Wireless charging also is nothing VW ever claimed the car will be able to do. Never buy a car for what it could offer in the future, buy it for what it offers at the moment you buy it.

  • @andreacoppini
    @andreacoppini 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I have one of these on a long term rental of 2 months. It's a surprisingly great car, even better than the ID4 I had before. The infotainment and app still sucks like all VAG cars, but the rest of it is great. Even on the single motor version it's snappy and responsive. The brakes feel a bit weak especially since this thing can reach 165km/h (the software limit) without noticing. On single phase it seems to get limited to 3kw (on 16A European plug), while the ID4 reached 4kw. Comfort wise, it has a huge boot but the seats are just slightly more uncomfortable than the ID4's or even VW ICE cars. I've decided not to keep it primarily because of the bad infotainment and app platform.

    Thanks for this. Great to hear that Malta is the perfect temperature for EVs! FYI the increase in reported range when going downhill is probably a poor measure of the amout of energy that has been recovered through regen, because it reflects not just the change in the amount of energy contained in the battery, but more significantly also the lower rate at which that energy is consumed (the average consumption is what is used to calculate remaining range). The change in the percentage charge of the battery would be better measure of the amount of energy actually recovered through regen

I have been in one with the limiter off which meant that Ami now doing 50 mph. There is a different coding almost like a stage 2 that can make these go 60 mph which is currently being tested by my friend to which I will report back once I know more.

    I would say the battery would keep above 75% of the SoC above 15 years. Battery can last 18 to 25 years. And then they can be used as home batteries. A home needs 14 kWh battery. A car has 60 kWh roughly. A car battery can be divided to 3 homes.

    1. First, we need to find out how many times the car will be charged in a year. Since you charge the car once every week, there are 52 weeks in a year, so the car will be charged 52 times a year. 2. Next, we divide the total charge cycles (5000) by the number of times the car is charged in a year (52): 5000 cycles / 52 charges per year ≈ 96.15 years So, the car would last approximately 96.15 years if you charge it once a week. However, this is a theoretical calculation assuming the battery degradation is solely determined by the number of charge cycles. In reality, other factors may influence the lifespan of the car’s battery.

  • @kristianlundell616

    I totally agree. The key less and charging, or should I say stop-charging, is so annoying. You get to a fast charger station, start the charge, then go to relief your self, or buying something, and you cant return to the car, for it would stop charging?!? Not the brightest moment of the engineer who invented that feature!

    About the range: I bought a MY2022 2008GT in December 2023 with 11'000km on the clock. Here in Sweden it's a lot cooler, specially this time of year. about zero degrees Celsius, or cooler. Charging to 100% @11kWh (Built in 11kWh inverter.) the GOM (Guess O Meter) shows about 298-302km range. Yesterday (feb-29) @ 4c ambient temp. Charging with a fast charger to 100% it showed me 310km. I suspect it's due to the 100kWh charge speed heated up the battery to 27c for a moment. :) Realistic range (Even though stated @ 300km by the GOM) I get 240-250km total range this time of year. Only had the car for just over two months, so no numbers for summer temps yet. But 250km is enough for a normal work week. I don't have any charger of my own, so charging once a week at work on a 22kWh charger. Works better than expected. Range is still a ghost messing with my mind, downgrading from a big diesel SUV that gave real range of 1300km "on a full charge".
