At Sea On The USS Orion (AS-18)
มุมมอง 8K13 ปีที่แล้ว
The USS Orion was a submarine tender that was in the U.S. Naval Fleet from 1943 to 1993. At the time that she was decommissioned she was the oldest active ship in the Naval Fleet. I served on her from 1977-80. The Orion was a great ship to serve on. This video is of a cruise taken after finishing overhaul in Norfolk, Virginia. We were heading back to our home port of Charleston, S.C. Family mem...

Beverly Hills 90210

This is a video of our one and only trip to Beverly Hills, California. An interesting part of the trip that I unfortunately didn't record was Jennifer Lopez getting into her Bentley after shopping and not being able to get the top up on her Bentley. This video is probably far less interesting for most of you, but for those that have never been there, there is still plenty to see.

My father arrived at Pier 22 in 1959 after a tour on BUSHNELL in Key West as 1C Shipfitter. Stayed aboard until making CPO in 66 then orders to LOS ALAMOS in Holy Loch. Year later, returned to Norfolk and spent his last year aboard before retiring in 1967. He went TAD a bunch of times to New London, but seems to me was always in the rear detachment when ORION went out for her yearly barnacle cruise. She seemed to spend 1/2 the year facing towards the base, then 1/2 year facing the river. But what donI know….he raised me to be an Army helicopter pilot!
I mostly found plastic in whale stomach
I started out on the Hunley in Charleston after boot in 70. Ended up on Canopus later in the same year and was in Holy Loch 17 months. Best times of my life. Great video! Thank you

I was on USS Orion as 18 in 1988 in dry dock Charleston SC for 6 months it cost 25 million for that navy 3 years later sailed her back to States and cut her up for scrap why spend 25 million dollars for 3 years I know butacrats that no care for ya tax money I was en5 we paid 100 dollars for a hammer
The most traditional eleven colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, brown, black, gray, and white.
For anyone who asks about or complains about the pop-ups, they are mine. The video was originally made just for family members with no thought of it going public. The original video also had a different soundtrack. As for my brother who posted this, he passed away over 3 years ago.
This is the first time I’m seeing this. He was such a great showman. I still play his music, wish I had videos of his shows. Magic fingers, miss those days!!!
Why spend so much money on a whale
At least it was in the neighborhood... our local USPS carrier has delivered at least four of my packages to other businesses up to two miles away, and FedEx delivered one to another city (it was eventually forwarded to me by the honest mistaken recipient). I have a direct phone line and email to the customer service rep at the local post office.
My grandpa Robert McDonald was on this ship in ww2!

I served on board the USS Orion 1979 to 1980. I was in charge of I Division and checked in many of the crew members that went on to Italy. There is “0” evidence of Liberace being homosexual/gay. He was once engaged to actress Joanne Rio & frequently dated countless other women; not men! He testified (under oath) & denied being homosexual (or ever taken part in homosexual practices) in a 1956 defamation trial against the Daily Mirror. He further won a libel suit (1957) against Confidential Magazine for publishing a malicious article alluding to him being a homosexual. In Liberace’s biography ‘The Wonderful ‘Private’ World of Liberace’ there is no mention of him being homosexual, engaging in homosexual practices, or an affair with Scott Thorson??? Chapter Three does mention his affairs with women. Liberace was not gay!!!
Liberace and van clyberace museum for two great American pianists

This was my first ship. I served on her for two years, from June of 1980 until July of 1982. I was in Deck Department and was onboard when we changed homeports to Sardinia Italy to replace the Howard W. Gilmore. Thank you so much for posting this video. It brings back many memories.
Do you remember me? Bm3 Reginald Massey? Your name sounds familiar, I was on board from oct 77 to July 81, such memories of Charleston and Lamaddelena!
That skin is so thick
Got off her in 1978
Stationed on this ship from 1971 - 72 when it was in Guam. I "think" it was relieved by the Hunley? Hard to remember. LOL
No it was relieved by the Proteus .
Paul, I served on her from 77 to 79, then went to the USS Julius A Furer. Dry dock with the Orion, a few months later the furer went into dry dock. I played a lot of football and softball on both ships because i had very little sea time. But, had a great time and meet good people on both ships. I too am getting old, remember faces, but forget the names.
Jesus Christ man
I was a crew member of her from April 1992 to September 1993. It's good to see the old lady again.
I was a member of the USS Orion from 1982 to 1984, boarded as a PN3 left as a PN2 ready for the NC1 exam. I wonder how PNMC Patrick Pursel, PN2 William Wagner and PN2 David Cox are doing?
