Karawinna Bunny Hunting - Ep 18 - 28/12/24 - "A New Beast is Unleashed"
Tonight I have given the CZ457 17HMR a new partner. On top is now a DNT Thermnight 225R Multispectral Scope.
I visited the new area that I went to last trip and had a very successful night out with around 35 bunnies shot. My mate shot about 15 and was amazed by what the thermal (and night vision) could see and identify.
There is a bit of a learning curve going on and I frequently hit the wrong button. Practice and use will sort that out.
The PARD DS35-50 will probably go up for sale now and the HikMicro Lynx will go onto the Rack’n’Rest spotlight mount for a while, but I get the feeling that in the long term, that will be sold too.
The Thermnight’s thermal picture is good at 3X but once pushed up, especially to 12X the pixelation is quite bad.

Karawinna Bunny Hunting - Ep 17 - 13/12/24 - "A Hidden Paradise"
มุมมอง 9K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
Probably the final night out in the Millewa hunting bunnies for 2024. Tonight I went to an area I had been eyeing off for ages, but due to tricky farm wire gates, I had not ventured there. It was a bunny hunters paradise. 22 bunnies in 30 mins and 29 all up before I moved back to more familiar territory. And for once it was in daylight. Most of the Millewa bunnies hide until after dark. Tonight...

Another night out in the Millewa hunting bunnies. The wheat has been harvested and the ground is damp after 40mm rain last weekend. The bunnies don't have as many hiding spots now as there is only stubble left, but there are still plenty of scrub areas. Lots of doubles tonight CZ457 17HMR PARD DS-35-50 LRF HikMicor Lynx 2.0 LH19 Rackenrest Rifle Rest

Another night out in the Millewa hunting bunnies and the odd fox. The wheat is nearing harvest, the ground is dry and dusty. The bunnies are hiding in the long wheat. Looking forward to the harvest so that they can't hide as well. A young fox was out tonight, he won't be killing any native animals or lambs CZ457 17HMR PARD DS-35-50 LRF HikMicor Lynx 2.0 LH19 Rackenrest Rifle Rest

Said it was saving, then gave an error message and the 2 hour file gone! Not on iPad, not on device 🙁

Winter is ending but was a cold and chilly night out in the Millewa. Temperature wasn't too bad but the wind was icy. Wheat crops are growing and the bunnies are using that to their advantage, hiding in the lush growth. CZ457 HMR, PARD DS35-50 LRF, HikMicro Lynx 2.0 LH19

A dissapointing night in the Millewa with the CZ457 17HMR, PARD DS35-50, HikMicro Lynx 2.0 LH19 hunting rabbits. Not a lot of rabbits about compared to previous nights out, and those that were roaming were very skittish. Whether it's due to the fact that over the last 6 months we've probably shot between 4-500, I'm not sure but even with the thermal gear last night I struggled to see as many. S...

Hi there David, how have you managed to mount/record the thermal (HikMicro Lynx) at the same time as the shot?
Happy to share, but could you search for me on FB and DM me there? Not a secret but not wanting to state here.
@@dyudkin61 Sure thing, that's where I found you and came over to see the vid 👍
Mate firstly, epic footage! So good to see just raw clips like this. Secondly just picking your brains about the DS35, are you happy with the mag on the 50 (4-8x)or would you go the 70(5.6-11.2x) on the CZ if you could do it again?
If i could do again i would get the higher mag. It's a pity they do not make a 4-12 covering the wide to a reasonable zoom. And with no disrespect for the PARD as i do like it, i would probably get the DNT Zulus 5-20 LRF. I am waiting for the DNT Thrmnight to become available in Australia, then i will get one of those. It has 5-20 Night as well as thermal at a similar price to the PARD. I'm not sure about other LRF units, but the PARD is very suseptible to not working properly in dusty areas which where i shoot is. Does not like dust in the air as it reflects the laser and is not accurate, and it seems to get on the lens itself and not work properly either, so you are frequently cleaning the lrf lens Hope the above is of some help to you. Cheers David
@@dyudkin61 fantastic feedback mate, thankyou. Hadn’t considered the LRF disruption before so that’s good to know
@@TimboLyonso 8 months of driving round the Millewa in the dust has shown me that. We don't pick a spot a spot and set up camp, we circulate the farm shooting from the window for a few hours. I use a rack'n'rest setup
Great footage from the Lynx, exactly what I was looking for.
For what I use it for, the Lynnx 19 is great as most of my spotting is under a few hundred meters. It shows the bunnies really well, though frequently i cant see them through the scope as they are behind bushes or stubble. If i were starting again, i would try to find the money for a thermal scope as most of my hunting is well under 100m and at that range, there is not much problem in target identification and you could "shoot" through the stubble. Cheers
@@dyudkin61 I have a Sytong AM06-50 and it's great but I want a seperate spotter for quicker finding targets. I think I'll go with the Lynx 2.0 LH15, as it has a wide view and I don't need to look further than 100m.
@@Rain-i3m there is a great TH-cam video that shows all the Lynx thermals on one big screen shot. I used that to help me decide. The 15 was a bit too “grainy” for me.
I was talking to someone recently who was living there when the National Park was a station. They have confirmed that it was a meteor impact. The station house was around 10 km to the west of the crater and they felt the impact inside the house. I believe this happened sometime in the mid 1980's. I am planning on going out there soon to have a look at that end of the park having done the lakes and mopoke hut already. If you return to the park the last chance track is a great drive, but avoid the mud holes (if any} they are more slippery than a greasy pig, A word of advice do not use google maps out there. We ended up going through a couple of paddocks and down a motocross track following our traveling companion who was using google maps. Organic maps for Android is our choice when we go bush. I am not associated with the app developers. But will spread the word when it comes to safety when travelling in remote areas. I hope this speil of mine has assured you that it is a genuine impact crater and has piqued your interest to explore the park a bit more, there is so much to see but a 4WD is a must. An AWD may do a lot of the park in ideal conditions and a two wheel drive is really very limited in the warmer months. Drive to the conditions and keep to speed limit ( I think it is 40km/h, but please check for yourself) and stay to the left on blind corners - there may be others out there and you won't see them until it is to late. I had a near miss with someone who was on the wrong side of the track going way to fast around a blind corner after not sighting anyone else for 3 days it was a nasty suprise.
Do you eat them?
great video thanks so cool
Glad you enjoyed it
