Halftime show during the 1985 4-5A Quarter Finals playoff game vs Irving MacArthur at Ratliff Stadium Odessa, TX
I remember this year! I bet my home built camper was over at the corner of Grandview and Yukon. That was before tailgating became a Thing. We'd set up and bar-b-q on the corner, wave at people coming to the game, then close up and walk over ourselves. MOJO!
My sophomore year!!
any1 know where i can get a copy of PHS Band performances frm 97, 98 & 99 ?? I can't seem 2 find any of these & I want 2 show my hubby & son.
I don't think it's 1983. Chris greenlee was the drum major. I think it's 1985 or1984
1984
Thanks for posting this! Was my sophomore year ... Now I can show my kids.
bigum7509, I just looked at your link. That song is March Grandioso.
bigum7509, that's actually not the Permian fight song. That march is called "Wings of Victory". However, lots of people think it is the fight song! The actual fight song is "The Official West Point March". When I was at Permian back in the '70s, it didn't get much play. Maybe it's because it has some very difficult counter melodies in it that are hard to play and march to? I don't really know. We would play it at pep rallies and that was about it.
What is the name of y'all's fight song? (7:40)
It's actually not the fight song...it's a march called "Wings of Victory." The fight song is an arrangement of "The Official West Point March," which doesn't get played much!
Sorry, at 7:40, that is "March Grandioso."
"5-0" still sends chills down my spine to this day. (Mojo drummer, class of '92)
Thanks for posting this! This was my sophomore year. I now have a son in marching band (in Virginia) and it was fun to show him how we did it!
Sorry, it was the 1983 competition. My bad.
Not completion. Playoff halftime
Greetings from the JW Nixon High School Mighty Mustang Band from Laredo, Texas. I remember we met in the Texas 5A Marching Band State Finals that year. I had forgotten how HUGE a band you guys were.
Good times.
