Very pretty. I want to ask how you come up with your left hand. Do you look at a piano or guitar score to come up with the chords? Because I want to start doing this. I have tried to look for a Catholic hymn book for harp but it doesn’t exist. I began watching you and they are beautiful. But I guess I need to do it on my own. Do you use a certain program to write out your arrangements?
Thank you! I use the guitar part of the OCP, the big book of Catholic hymns. My church gave me a copy when I started playing at Mass. Maybe you could check with the music ministry in your church to see if they have an extra copy? As for how I write them, honestly most of the time I don't even write them down. I listen to a lot of music and am usually influenced by that. Like recently I've been listening to a lot of finger style guitar, so my harp songs are coming out more guitar like. I improvise and try to come up with something I think sounds good, then go from there. I would love to write a book of Catholic hymns for the harp someday, but right now my regular job is just too demanding. I will definitely keep it in mind, though. 😊
@@praywiththeharp I have spirit and song books as well as Gather Comprehensive. I played flute in a contemporary band at my church for about 20 years. But now I’m in a very small rural church with poor music and an almost nonexistant music ministry. Until there’s a new director a lot won’t change. I will have to begin doing this. I’ve only been playing harp a little over 3 years ago, so I’m not quite comfortable although I do cone up with parts when I play at church. I’m just unsure of myself. I’ll get there. And you should make a book. I’ll bet there would be a big response. Your arrangements are always so beautiful.

I mean, I finally got it to sound exactly how I wanted it to 🎶, but by then my candle had almost burnt out and I wasn't sure if it looked good enough.🕯️It was so late and dark. 🌌 But I just decided to post it anyways because I was finally in the right mindset while playing it. The day had been really difficult emotionally, but this song really brought me through. I just focused on the tiniest flicker of light in my soul ✨ and let the Holy Spirit play this one for me. How do I make it sound more interesting? Add chords? Emphasize the dynamics?
