    I’m an Orthodox Christian from Serbia and its very similar. When the priest comes to bless the home we also prepare watter, although no salt, I often burn insence, it brings such sense of calmness, also I have icons on the wall, but also smaller ones that are kept elswhere, the candies are burnt, made of wax and we also keep holy watter in the house.

    U should visit us in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church if there is in ur area. We had a very close relationship with our Armenian brothers and sisters in the past, but after the socialist regime in our country, our contact faded away. I think we should start restoring it now also yk we have a special place in our church For st. Arsema or i think u guys call her st.Hripsime❤😊 We will be honored to have u guys in our church

And I love that you, guys, take your shoes off when you enter the church! I agree, we should work on that! Armenians don’t have any friends, just enemies everywhere:) we need to build strong relationships at least with our sister churches! And yes, I love St. Hripsime! First of all, thank you very much for this historical overview, it was very clear from how you explained! (as well as in your video "Oriental vs. Eastern orthodox..."). It comes to my mind, as I don't belong to any special denomination, that differences in christological details are not so important. If Jesus Christ was fully human or was half divine and half human, or if he was fully divine, doesn't matter. It matters what he means to people in the presence in their lives: hope, love, forgiveness. The same way I see the debate around Mary - for me it is not important how she was conceived, or if she remained virgin after birth of Jesus. But that is how I see it.

    The miracle of Saint Euphemia In the year 451 in the city of Chalcedon, in the very church where the glorified relics of the holy Great Martyr Euphemia rested, the sessions of the Fourth Ecumenical Synod (July 16) took place. The Synod was convened for determining the precise dogmatic formula of the Orthodox Church concerning the nature of the God-Man Jesus Christ. This was necessary because of the widespread heresy of the Monophysites ["mono-physis" meaning "one nature"], who opposed the Orthodox teaching of the two natures in Jesus Christ, the Divine and the Human natures (in one Divine Person). The Monophysites falsely affirmed that in Christ was only one nature, the Divine [i.e. that Jesus is God but not man, by nature], causing discord and unrest within the Church. At the Synod were present 630 representatives from all the local Christian Churches. On the Orthodox side Anatolius, Patriarch of Constantinople (July 3), Juvenal, Patriarch of Jerusalem (July 2), and representatives of Leo, Pope of Rome (Feb. 18) participated in the synodal deliberations. The Monophysites were present in large numbers, headed by Dioscorus, the Patriarch of Alexandria, and the Constantinople archimandrite Eutychius. After prolonged discussions the two sides could not come to a decisive agreement. The holy Patriarch Anatolius of Constantinople proposed that the Synod submit the decision of the Church dispute to the Holy Spirit, through His undoubted bearer Saint Euphemia the All-Praised, whose wonderworking relics had been discovered during the Synod’s discussions. The Orthodox hierarchs and their opponents wrote down their confessions of faith on separate scrolls and sealed them with their seals. They opened the tomb of the holy Great Martyr Euphemia and placed both scrolls upon her bosom. Then, in the presence of the emperor Marcian (450-457), the participants of the Synod sealed the tomb, putting on it the imperial seal and setting a guard to watch over it for three days. During these days both sides imposed upon themselves a strict fast and made intense prayer. After three days the patriarch and the emperor in the presence of the Synod opened the tomb with its relics: the scroll with the Orthodox confession was held by Saint Euphemia in her right hand, and the scroll of the heretics lay at her feet. Saint Euphemia, as though alive, raised her hand and gave the scroll to the patriarch. After this miracle many of the hesitant accepted the Orthodox confession, while those remaining obstinate in the heresy were consigned to the Synod’s condemnation and excommunication.

      Thank you for the comment. This is the second time someone brings up this story in the comment section. In all the extensive research that I have done, neither Eastern Orthodox, nor Oriental Orthodox sources mention this story. Also, St. Dioscorus and his supporters are named here Monophysites and followers of Eutyches, which is false, and my two entire videos tell the story of how that myth was born and why it was cultivated.

    (Saint Paisios the Athonite) about the Anti-Chalcedonians (Monophysites/Miaphysites) he would say: "They do not say that they did not understand the Holy Fathers, but that the Holy Fathers did not understand them. Namely, as if they are right and were misunderstood". He characterized as blasphemy against the Holy Fathers the proposed cleansing of the Liturical books from the characterizations of the heretics Dioscorus and Sevirus. He said "So: many Holy Fathers who had divine illumination and were their contemporaries, did not understand them but misunderstood them, and here we come so many centuries later to correct the Holy Fathers? Why don't they even consider the miracle of Saint Euphimia*? Is it possible that even she had misunderstood the book of the heretics?" Without seeking to appear as confessor, with his ways, he would react, talk and write to ecclesiastic people. "The church" he would say "is not a boat of every bishop to do what he pleases". His reactions were followed by a lot of prayer and love for the Church, but also for those who deviated and by assumed apathy, distinction and greater enlightenment.

    • @holasona
      @holasona 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your comment. Saint Paisios of Mount Athos lived in the early 20th century, and he was repeating what Eastern Church has been already teaching for centuries. In order for him to be able to understand what OO teaching is, he had to, for instance, learn Armenian language, read the works of our fathers, translate them and then argue with our theology. But, i don’t know any saint in the 20th century who has done such research. If you know, let me know. Our fathers don’t say that they were misunderstood. They say the idea of two natures in Christ is foreign to the church and was never taught by the fathers of the church before Chalcedon. Also, the story of St. Euphimia seems a much later addition to the actual historical events recorded in detail by EO and OO sources. In all the research I have done, neither authors from EO, nor from OO brings up this story as a serious evidence.

    Dear Sona, My family and I have recently converted to Orthodox Christianity (Aug 3rd, 2024). I grew up Protestant. My husband became a Protestant Christian when he turned 30. We became married when he was 33. We started having children and had been raising our three Protestant. About 1.5 years ago my husband began to look more closely at the early ancient church by reading many books on Orthodoxy. After close to a year of his own personal study he brought our family to an Orthodox Church to see. I was hesitant but submissive to him, trusting his leadership as my husband. I had many struggles and questions with Orthodoxy since I had built a very different mindset and tradition through my Protestant upbringing. Eventually, after attending and participating in an Orthodox, for about a year, we all wanted to become baptized into the Orthodox Church. I can’t tell you how blessed I feel and know that we are in the right place. When you said in your video that when you get to church, even after some struggles and frustration (from lack of food and motherhood), that you feel like it is a miracle. Maybe you used different words but I definitely could relate to you in that moment. Every time we make it to church it feels like the kingdom of heaven come down to earth. It is healing and so, so blessed! Now, since I am so new to this new tradition, I am struggling to transition my children into a new way at home. They have transitioned wonderfully at church and are serving (my two girls in the choir and my son as an alter boy). But, I struggle to know how to make our home more Orthodox. We are building a prayer corner in my husband and I’s room and our children have tiny paper icons in their own bedrooms. We sometimes burn incense, and read the Prologue of Ohrid to them most days. I enjoyed listening to what you do in your home😊 Please pray for me and my family as we transition our home into an Orthodox home💛☦️
