How to stop being a perfectionist when it comes to creating content | Creative Wellness Series
If you're a perfectionist (or as Queen Brene Brown says - a recovering perfectionist 🙋🏻‍♀️) and that has been stopping you from creating content, let's have a chat. 🫖
When I tell you it was such a revelation for me to be viciously, personally attacked reading Atlas of the Heart by Brene Brown and coming across a section on perfectionism.... I've never seen such a glaring reflection of myself right in front me learning that perfectionism is actually this "ideal" that is rooted in SHAME!!!!
That moment was a catalyst to this video and series I'll be creating surrounding creative wellness. I've learned as a fellow creative and creator, your overall wellbeing is so inextricably tied to your abilities as a creator. I've been finding time and time again the amount of inner work (or lack thereof) I'd put in would directly reflect on how I'd show up as a content creator, business owner, solopreneur, ALL OF IT.
So with this channel and series, I'll be focusing on CREATIVE WELLNESS. Helping you along in your creative journey as a fellow business owner, solopreneur, content creator, any and all of the relevant things in between. 💛
I'll be sharing a lot of parallels from my own personal development and wellbeing / healing journey particularly as it translates towards creators.
Perfectionism has always been the biggest one for me.
I know I'm not alone in these seemingly unique struggles and challenges so I hope someone out there knows it too. ✨

📢 Mental health & content creation go hand in hand.

📢 Mental health & content creation go hand in hand. Creating content from a place of ego - for views & validation - is not a sustainable or healthy place to create from. When you are aligned with your purpose/intention pair that with practical ways to stay consistent - Everything you originally had your eye on (the views, likes, etc.) become an inevitable byproduct of creating from that place. ...
Best time to post on TIKTOK? It's not what you think. | TikTok Growth Tips

What’s the best time to post? …That’s not something I think an article or even your own analytics can REALLY tell you. As a content strategist I am a big believer in testing content - a process that never ends because as you grow and evolve as a creator, so does your audience. Not all audiences are built the same, even in the same industries because just by nature of you leading your community,...

Doing the exercise at 13:00 by jotting down some of my thoughts: - The shame part of perfection resonates with me. I do want to avoid criticism by making things "perfect." And I managed to avoid a lot of criticism! I don't always agree that having more haters means you're doing something right... - But I also realize you just have to get started. You can't be perfect from video #1. My current videos are mostly a mess, but I've gotten better with more uploads. Someone will find it helpful anyway (like this video with no comments...yet). - At the same time, I do strive for "perfection" in unseen ways. In my email newsletters, I will manually change apostrophes and quotation marks to curly ones, remove all non-breaking spaces (;nbsp) whenever they appear, use the same number of line breaks before each heading, etc. No (sane) one is going to tell things like that apart... But it gives me a feeling of satisfaction and pride in my work. Steve Jobs cared about the quality of doing the things unseen as well... I think that's admirable. So I think there could be true perfectionism (or neuroticism lol) in some areas as well as a shame component.

Great advice I am a singer plus I post little work out videos occasionally and always wondered what’s the best time to post for everyone to see. This was extremely useful…..

Great point about quality vs quantity! I can't speak to TikTok, but I found that sending emails consistently on a schedule "trains" your audience to open your material at that time. For me, I see 40-60% open rates. So consistency might be important too.

Ooo yes, great insight for email too. I am a faithful sub to a few newsletters and have always appreciated that they come around the same time. Consistency is definitely helpful on TikTok, although like most social algorithms, only a small percentage of your audience sees it right away. So it's always best to see what tends to work for you specifically!
