Mr. X and Mr. K were the songs from my kindergarten class that I still remembered in my 40s! I have no idea what made me think of it, but I remembered my teacher Ms. Phillips, who became Mrs. Carter after Christmas vacation, when she got married, used to play these records for us, and we would get a "Letter Person" card each week, where the letter was actually a sticker that you could peel off! This was in the early 1980s. I remember we got the "Weekly Reader" magazine the next year in 1st grade with "Buddy Bear" and "Nibbles Mouse!" I have no idea how i have a photographic memory of the 1980s, but I can't remember what happened two weeks ago! 😂

I still remember this Letter Person being presented to the class by Miss Webb, the go-to substitute teacher for my class. She was retired from full-time teaching by 1986, the year I had her. She started her career before the First World War in a one-room schoolhouse. She was 93 years old when she played this song for us. It's a matter of pride when I tell people that I had a school teacher born in the 19th Century.
