Tokelau Fakaofo
Fakaofo atoll is twofold exceptional. First of all a huge solar array constructed in 2015 provides all the island's electricity. Besides they took up the fight with the elements of the nature. They have constucted a four-meter-seawall , thus they can protect themselves from floodings caused by cyclones and sealevel rise.
During our stay we could witness merely the Gabion wall, it was amazing!
I am very much obliged to Afega Gaualofa, who made our stay pleasant and confortable, as well as helped a lot to get familiar with the way of life on Fakaofo atoll.

Gilbert Islands Tarawa
มุมมอง 2.7K6 ปีที่แล้ว
It was my 4th radio expedition in the Pacific. Our host, Mote Terukaio was the chief of telecommunication of Kiribati. I am obliged to him for his valuable information on Kiribati. Kiribati is seriously struggling with overpopulation and the unstoppable sea level rise.
Niue
มุมมอง 7K6 ปีที่แล้ว
It was 1991 when I visited Niue with my buddy, Miki. We carried out so-called radio expedition but in addition to it it was great to learn how the Niuean people lived. In the video I intend to show a few typical moments of their life.
ROTUMA

Visit on the Chatham Islands
มุมมอง 2.8K6 ปีที่แล้ว
With my buddy we spent a month in the Chatham Islands from Dec.1990 to Jan. 1991. The first goal of our trip was so-called DXpedition, besides we tried to be familiar with the history of the island and the lifestyle of the islanders. We had a great time on Chatham. Thanks to our hosts, John&Denise Sutherland at the Chatham Lodge.
Does Tokelau speak Tongan?

This is such a beautiful film. My husband and I lived in Niue in 1988/89 just before this. The Niuean people are so kind and generous. Sweet memories
I love the toga songs, good on you.

Beautiful home Niue 🇳🇺🇳🇺🇳🇺☝️💙🔥🔥 Fakaaue lahi for uploading your video from niue
Uploaded 2 years ago but this must've been 30 years ago. Awesome upload nice sound track too.
Legal
Really want to go here one day
as u can see I was there just 29 years ago...I enjoyed it very much, like so many other islands in the Pacific...why? the answer is very simple: I the native folks are honest, humble...unfortunately the young generation finds the life in NZ, Australia and other, so-called civilized countries more exiting, enjoyable...it's a pity!
Man,how old is this video?,takes me back to the days before we left Niue for New Zealand.

Stop over fishing the water bilo’s
I wish to live there and eat fresh fish everyday :D
thanks for the upload, saw a documentary about it and i got curious, searching for more info. I am in awe how they can be so self reliant, i saw they even use electric golf carts for transportation
5:55 Now that is what I want to see in the world: Happy pigs soaking in shallow warm lagoons. For me that is paradise.
Why did you use a Tongan song for this??
Malo ni Linda, I'm really sorry about it, I collected the songs on the islands and when making the videos, somehow I used the wrong one here.....
@@elemerbielek8816 my partner is from Tokelau and he asked the question. Just seemed to be odd that's all 👍
Who cares if they use it, love it!
Thank you for sharing your experience.
It's a great pleasure for me!
Miss my home island Kiribati (Bonriki) this video filming in 1992 when I was 1 years old now I’m 28 and I’m been away from Kiribati for 10 years
When I made these short videos in the Pacific in the course of 25 years, I did not know that one day these would be available for everyone on the Internet. Now I am very happy that I have made these videos, it is a great pleasure also for me but -I think- much more for those who were born and lived there...
I hope to one day visit Tarawa. An island community that was ravished by war. Now the silent global warming is the enemy. I pray for the Gilbert Island community.
ZL1WJP listening....Just found this.Thanks.
But why the use of a Tongan song?
I got it as a Tokelauen song, sorry....
Its not a tongan song, thats primarily a genuinely a tokelauan song.if tokelauan music is ever closests to other pacific islands,it'll be to tuvalu, tuamotu's & the samoans which they are ethincally & linguisticly closely related to...
@@dannytavale5124 uh Im Tokelauan and I would know a Tokelauan song. There is clearly a Tongan song used in this video.
Thanks for the vid love the fishing pigs lol
Can you give me a number of Tokelau
Greetings from Turkey

They have a very simple life, but they are not poor. They have all their basic needs. They are probably happier than us
Maximiliano Herrera unless you want more out of life. Then it must be painfully isolated, claustrophobic, and hopeless feeling to get out
@Shlutty Mc'Shlutface Exactly
Their simple way of life is subsidized by New Zealand tax payers.
They hard working people they leave of sea n on land .till sugar n rice introduced to them that when peoples started to get sick.other wise they are happy peoples 😊 ☺ 😄. And that the fact.
@@UltraBoner would that be a problem?
