I'll have to find out how to get to this one, I'm in st Lawrence not far from the post office.
Easy to find head toward Niton to the little turning area after the closed rd ,you’ll find well worn paths up into the woods follow them and you’ll find it.
@@gurtsmunta1 I think I know what part it is, there's a parking bay area squared off under the trees 👍
@@allenwood9967 that’s it👍
@@gurtsmunta1 I know where I'm checking out next 😁
Great video and details. Given the history of this island it makes you wonder what other treasure's are hidden by the wave's.
I don't suppose you ever knew Maurice Bridgeland?
I’m afraid not
Great video, interesting and relaxing
That was great, very interesting!
Interesting. 👌🏼
What boat make is that. I see a few cats in back ground and am looking for a cat fishing boat for ireland.
Cheetah marine ,they are made in the blue building in the background
@@gurtsmunta1 thanks for that. Gr3at name for a boat Co.
Boring
Yeah was hoping it would break free and end up smashing into something but oh well . I have to say it’s amazing how many people watch it though🤷🏻♂️
No bottle of Champagne 🍾 breaking ceremony
Mother Earth will do what she wants to do. You can't stop her.
Not some sort of gun breach? I found a piece of Ammonite exactly like that at Luccombe beach years ago.
Maybe I was being too optimistic but I had hoped the road would reopen later? Or is it a hopeless cause?
The area is being monitored now many weeks after the main event ,this will have to happen for a while for someone to make a decision ,the town is really feeling it this last few weeks iv been working for shop owners and they have noticed a slump in sales ,the route to wroxall is to be closed for repairs leaving only 1 route in and out this is going to cause some major upset.
Kept expecting to see one of The Stig in there somewhere 😉
Always found it a very odd tradition, anyone know the history behind it?
Why don’t you give some information about this is on the IOW
This was hollowed out in the 1960s for a spring water source for the big house nearby.
Probably what Ventnor looks like underground.
Interesting cave!
Devils Chimney is still there and although this slip was pretty devastating Nature will do its thing soon enough. As for the property's!! Sad yes but how nuts do you have to be to build on a an area called "LandSlip"!!.
Great little vid once again Mr S! BTW... I did come out to Shanklin as arranged, but I couldn't find the place :( I would have called but I don't have your number.... I'll try again next week.
The Landslip - as it was - was a totally magical place. I recognise the location you were searching for. When I first "discovered" it, I had a tingling sense of deja vu, as if it was once on a path I might have known in my childhood - perhaps linking The Chink with the Coastal Path. Perhaps even an official route. In fact, on that first "discovery", There was a loose wooden direction sign amongst those huge amazing rocks pointing to "The Chink". The Chink survived the big slide.. Nearly everything has been re-arranged now by the big slide but who knows what new features will become recognised, like the ones we knew, which were themselves the product of the big slides of 1810-1818.
what's the path like down there now? Haven't ridden down there for ages after the top bit of the loop was blocked by fallen trees [woody]
There is off the main rd a proper drive constructed although at mo it’s blocked off it also has dirty great cracks in it
@@gurtsmunta1 I saw they had made it more of a path , at the top at least, but it was all closed off last time I went past
@@Iowcatalyst yeah it goes right the way down and there is a wooden walkway covering running water at one point
I feel like a drone could do this so much better, why does it need to be on the ground?
Apparently it was a demo to show the feasibility of using LiDAR to scan the area ,to create a picture your scan point is gps located along with the scan which then makes the picture which would then at a later date be replicated to see if there were any changes ,there’s a lot of ground movement in the area ,there probably is a way to do this with a drone.
Gurt Smunta? 😂
From gurt and Smunta my two Jack russels
Such a bloody shame, loved that place.
How many years old is that?looks like a well built boat, heavy timbers! Find out more??
Ooh thats interesting
Is it still there?
Yes🤷🏻♂️
Fab
Misunderstood Scotch on the Rocks!
Bet the Maritime trust would like that..did it get washed away the village? Wonder if anything remains at St Helens further out? Thanks for sharing
Puckaster Cove is near Niton, nowhere near St Helens which is on the other side of the Isle of Wight.
Looks like quite a few caves there. Amazing you found a wall and floor. Was that the Kingswells place?
I believe from old photos it was either a boat house or a building linked to fishing
Outstanding
I swear you used to be able to .....sea .. it atow tide. Has it moved?
Yes you could but it’s been severely eroded by the sea
WOW thats incredible
I wonder if they were stoves?
Iv had numerous people have a look at them ,it is a possibility but they are hollow the mystery continues.
@@gurtsmunta1 hmm very interesting, great video
Did you discover what it was? What sort of depth, any features?
From what info I have obtained it was probably what is called a “dumb barge” basically a large un named sea trailer ,it would be floated around to the bay and beached the tide recedes quite a way here ,at low tide it would be filled with sand and re floated at high tide towed back to Sandown or Shanklin or further afield and the sand used for building. At low tide it was only in about 6ft
@@gurtsmunta1 thanks for the information
What camera are you using underwater? Cheers mate nice content.
Hi I have a cheap Fuji finepix xp140 waterproof camera .
Cheers mate all the best@@gurtsmunta1
Are you camping out in your back yard?
Did the Budgie survive?
Super interesting!
I remember all those cruise ships mored off the South of the Island !
Just as I remember it, lovely
And some people in Canada think we had lockdowns. No comprehension of how it was in other countries.
Gawd what an awful time that was
Quacking at the end! 🦆
Great video
I have made a set up similar to this using a cheap blue tarp. I've used saplings in place of two tent poles. I push one into the ATV front bumper, and the other down through the rear cargo rack and into the trailer hitch. Then I pitch the tarp over the poles like a pup tent on top of my ATV. Roll out the bed roll on top of the seat and between the handlebars. My rolled up coat placed between the handlebars works a decent pillow. The set up isn't perfect, but it's fun for a few hours on a rainy night and makes for a dry area to sleep on if the ground is too wet or snow covered.
Polar plunge here, check it out.
You feel this go down your spine when it howls amazing machine
